Definitions

  • the invention relates to a screw terminal for an electrical installation device, in particular circuit breaker, for connecting one or / and several connecting wires or connecting rails, with a one-piece, rectangular terminal frame, the upper transverse side of which has a recess for receiving a clamping screw which is loop-shaped with a terminal frame penetrating box frame, which has a threaded hole in its upper, the upper transverse side of the terminal frame crossbar, the terminal frame is designed as an open ring and between its upper transverse side and the free end of a longitudinal leg forming a support leg, which is shorter than the opposite long side of the terminal frame, a defined gap "X" is provided.
  • screw terminals are used both individually and in electrical installation devices for fixing or for the electrical connection of electrical conductors. Particularly when used in electrical installation devices, there is often a need for clamping devices which enable simple handling. It is often required that both individual connecting wires and connecting rails must be able to be connected equally without additional devices or precautions being required.
  • Such a screw terminal designed as a box terminal for use in a housing for an electrical installation device has become known from DE-OS 31 37 117, in which a band-like conductor strip is bent into a square terminal frame which is penetrated by a loop-shaped box frame.
  • a clamping screw works together with the terminal frame and the box frame and serves for the non-positive fixing of the connecting conductors, which can be provided both as a wire and as a flat conductor in the form of connecting rails.
  • the connecting rails are clamped between the upper transverse side of the terminal frame and the screw head of the clamping screw, it is provided for fixing individual connecting wires that they are inserted into the loop formed by the box frame, which is then tightened by means of the clamping screw against the lower transverse side of the terminal frame. It is easily possible that due to the clamping force exerted by the clamping screw, the normally parallel longitudinal sides of the terminal frame will suffer permanent deformation by arching like a bow and thereby impairing the durability of the non-positive fastening, so that the screw connection can be loosened.
  • a screw terminal has become known in which a box-shaped element is provided which is provided with a U-shaped clamping element which is articulated on a connecting element.
  • the box-shaped element has a slot between the upper cross bar, which has a recess for the passage of a clamping screw, and the adjacent longitudinal bar, so that a better assembly of the box-shaped element and the U-shaped clamping element can be achieved.
  • a box-shaped element is also provided instead of the U-shaped terminal element; the said slot then serves to insert the box-shaped clamp element into the box-shaped element.
  • the side walls of the box frame which are offset at right angles with respect to the long sides of the terminal frame, are provided with elongated holes, into which guide tabs formed on the lower transverse side of the terminal frame engage and are guided by these guide tabs in such a way that the upper transverse side is aligned at the Tightening the clamping screw resiliently approximates to the free end of the support leg that the long side of the terminal frame forming the supporting leg has at most half the width of the longitudinal side of the terminal frame arranged opposite it, connected to the upper and lower transverse side, and provided with an inward bulge to save material is that resiliently rests against the upper crossbar of the box frame and secures it in at least two positions against displacement in the terminal frame.
  • the cam-like bulge provided according to the invention serves to temporarily hold the box frame reaching through the terminal frame in its respective position by the support leg with the cam-like bulge resting against the upper transverse web of the box frame.
  • the cam-like bulge acts as a resilient buffer against which the upper crosspiece of the box frame strikes and which can only be overcome with a defined amount of force.
  • the great advantage of the screw terminal provided with this improvement is that, depending on whether connecting rails or connecting wires are to be fastened, the advantageous, ie assembly-friendly position of the box frame with respect to the terminal frame can be set beforehand without this setting being changed during the Assembly changes automatically. It is provided that, in the event that connecting rails are to be fastened, the upper transverse web of the box frame is immediately adjacent to the upper transverse side of the terminal frame and the bulge acting as retaining cams on the supporting web of the box frame bears against the latter.
  • the box frame when individual connecting wires are to be fastened, the box frame is pressed down, so that its upper crossbar with the lower transverse side of the terminal frame is adjacent, wherein the cam-like bulge on the support web of the terminal frame acts on the upper crossbar of the box frame from above and prevents a change in position by moving upwards.
  • the cam-like bulge which is preferably conical, is arranged near the free end of the long side of the clamp frame forming the support leg, the distance between the cam-like bulge and the upper transverse side of the clamp frame being approximately the thickness of the upper crossbar of the box frame corresponds to or is slightly larger than this, so that in its upper position it adjoins the upper transverse side of the terminal frame.
  • a further advantageous embodiment of the invention consists in the length of the threaded shaft of the clamping screw, i.e. H. the distance between the screw head and screw end to the length of the box frame or the same length of the terminal frame. This ensures that when screwed in, when the screw head of the clamping screw rests on the upper transverse side of the terminal frame and the threaded shaft is screwed into the threaded hole in the upper transverse web of the box frame so that it rests on the upper transverse side of the terminal frame, the screw end on the lower transverse side of the terminal frame.
  • the one long side of the clamp frame, which forms a support leg is shorter than the opposite long side, so that between the free end of the long side forming the support leg and the upper transverse side of the clamp frame arranged above it a distance is formed, which gives it resilient compliance, it is ensured that when inserting a single lead or also several connecting wires, for which a displacement of the box frame downwards is required, the clamping force is transmitted from the lower crossbar of the box frame over its side walls to its upper crossbar and via the clamping screw screwed into it on the lower transverse side of the terminal frame, so that the long sides of the terminal frame are not involved in the power transmission of the clamping force for the connecting wires. Because of the selected geometric conditions, it is provided that the screw head rests on the upper transverse side of the terminal frame, the resilient reaction force of which causes the screw connection described above to be pretensioned.
  • this configuration combines the advantage that the support leg of the terminal frame, which is provided with the cam-like bulge and serves as a holding member for the box frame, remains free of deformation and thus its holding function for the box frame is not impaired.
  • the terminal frame essentially for holding and guiding the box frame and of course for power transmission.
  • the longitudinal side of the terminal frame opposite the support leg is provided with a molding which is matched to the respective application and location, for example with an arc running rail. It is also possible to use parts of a contact point, e.g. B. a fixed contact piece to be molded onto the terminal frame or to be electrically connected to it.
  • connection terminal it is expedient to provide the terminal frame or its longitudinal side opposite the support leg with corresponding projections or recesses for fixing and centering.
  • the opposite long side of the terminal frame is designed so that it projects at least in regions over the box frame reaching through the terminal frame on its two side walls , and thus reliably prevents twisting or tilting of the box frame in the terminal frame.
  • a screw terminal 10 according to the invention is shown in side view, which is formed from a terminal frame 12 and a box frame 14, which are connected to one another by means of a clamping screw 16.
  • a flat conductor 18 is inserted into the screw terminal and is fastened with the aid of the clamping screw 16.
  • the clamp frame 12 is formed from a band-like flat material to form a rectangular open ring with an upper transverse side 20, a lower transverse side 24, a longitudinal side 22 connecting both transverse sides 20, 24 and a longitudinal side which adjoins the lower transverse side 24 and serves as a support leg 26.
  • a defined gap is formed between the free end 27 of the longitudinal side of the frame clamp 12, referred to as the support leg 26, and the upper transverse side 20 adjacent thereto, which allows the upper transverse side 20 to be resiliently movable when the clamping screw 16 is tightened.
  • the free space between the longitudinal sides 22 and 26 and the transverse sides 20 and 24 of the terminal frame 12 is penetrated by the loop-shaped box frame 14, which also has two mutually parallel side walls 30, each of which is provided with an elongated hole 32, in which one of the the lower transverse side 24 of the clamp frame 12 engages in a form-fitting guide tab 25.
  • a lower crosspiece 34 is used at the lower end, which is arched outward in the manner of an arch, and an upper crosspiece 36, which is formed from flush overlapping right-angled bends of the two side walls 30 and in its flat web surface 38 has threaded bore 37.
  • This threaded bore 37 serves to receive the already mentioned clamping screw 16, which is used to apply and transmit the predetermined clamping force for fastening the electrical conductors.
  • FIG. 2 shows the top view of the arrangement according to FIG. 1, essentially showing the clamping screw 16 and the flat conductor piece 18, which for the most part covers the screw terminal 10 located underneath. Only the region of the upper transverse side 20 of the box frame 14 adjoining the longitudinal side 22 and one of two retaining flanks 23 formed on both sides of the longitudinal side 22, along which the box frame 14 can slide, can be seen.
  • FIG. 3 shows a central longitudinal section through the arrangement of the screw terminal 10 shown in FIG. 1 with a flat conductor 18 fastened therein.
  • the corresponding parts are provided with the same reference numbers as in FIG. 1.
  • the upper transverse web 36 is formed from two flat sheet metal pieces which are arranged one above the other and lie closely against one another and which are each bent at right angles by the side walls 30 of the box frame 14.
  • FIG. 4 shows a longitudinal section offset by 90 ° to the longitudinal section shown in FIG. 3 of the arrangement according to FIG. 1, from which further details of the inventive design of the screw terminal 10 can be seen.
  • this arrangement shows the arrangement of the retaining flanks 23 formed on the longitudinal side 22 of the terminal frame 12, which is on both sides are integrally formed on the longitudinal side 22 and protrude beyond the box frame 14.
  • the lower crosspiece 34 of the box frame 14 has a slightly curved shape, which serves to fix a wire conductor inserted between the lower crosspiece 34 of the box frame and the lower transverse side 24 of the terminal frame as centrally as possible, ie below the clamping screw 16, which, as can be seen in FIG. 5, tries to put on the lower transverse side 24 of the terminal frame 12 with its screw end.
  • a tolerance distance due to tolerance between the screw end of the clamping screw 16 and the lower transverse side 24 of the clamping frame which is designated by the dimension "y" in FIG. 5, is in the distance between the free end 27 of the support leg 26 and the upper transverse side of the upper part Terminal frame 12 provided distance "x" already taken into account.
  • a cam-like bulge 28 on the support leg 26 should be pointed out, which is stamped into the support leg 26 just below the free end 27 thereof.
  • the bulge 28 is conical and directed inward and rests elastically on the box clamp 14 due to the resilient flexibility of the support leg 26, the distance between the bulge 28 and the upper transverse side 20 of the clamp frame located above it, as can be seen particularly in FIG. 3 is the thickness of the upper crossbar 36 of the box frame 14 corresponds.
  • FIG. 6 shows the top view of the arrangement shown in FIG. 5, which essentially corresponds to the view known from FIG. 2. Different from this, however, the entire screw terminal 10 can be seen from above in FIG. H. Both the terminal frame 12 with its upper transverse side 20 and the transition of the upper transverse web 36 into the side walls 30 of the box frame 14. Furthermore, the retaining flanks 23 formed on both sides of the longitudinal side 22 connected to the upper transverse side 20 are shown, as well as a connected lead wire 19.
