Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a chipboard or the like., In particular kitchen worktop, with a laminate cover on the top and on at least one end face and preferably a protective film on the underside, the underside having a moisture and steam-resistant edge strip in the edge region of the laminated end face.
To the risk of moisture-related swelling of chipboard or the like. To become master, it has so far been necessary to coat the entire board surface with correspondingly thick and moisture-repellent cover layers, such as laminates with a thickness of more than 0.5 mm, or to use special glues, such as phenolic resins, in the production of the raw chipboard, which measures, however have not proven particularly for cost reasons. Usual chipboards further processed into kitchen worktops are urea resin-glued chipboards with a laminated top, the laminate being pulled over the front, correspondingly profiled front side of the plate. A protective film is usually glued to the underside, which must be butted with the end face laminate on the lower front edge, so that the resulting joint remains a dangerous weak point with regard to moisture attack.
The moisture leading to the swelling of the chipboard results on the one hand from draining liquids that reach the underside from the top of the board via the front face, and on the other hand through the effects of steam, such as those caused by opening hot dishwashers or the like. comes about. In order to prevent moisture from penetrating into the connection joint, it is known to provide water lugs or drainage grooves in the lower edge region of the front end face in order to force the draining liquids to drip off. As can be seen from DE-C1-35 27 006, the drain grooves are incorporated into the chipboard and on the one hand the laminate cover from the front and on the other hand the protective film on the underside is drawn into the groove, the bottom of which is covered by an additional sealing strip, which, however, is considerable This entails additional work for the production, requires grooving of the boards before laminating and also greatly increases the laminate waste. According to DE-A1-34 41 378 there are already separate edge strips in the edge area of the underside for protection against moisture. These edge strips are single or multi-layer strips made of moisture-insensitive material, such as metal, hardwood, plastic or the like, and are inserted in a step-like recess in the chipboard, with the end face laminate cover and optionally the underside protective film being glued to these edge strips, which Edge strips can also form drip edges by means of a step heel, a groove or a strip inserted into the groove. Again, because of the milling of the recesses, the cutting and preparation of the edge strips, the fitting and gluing of these edge strips and the like. a quite labor-intensive and cost-intensive manufacturing process can be accepted, but what is more important is that despite the effort, the critical glue points of the connection joints are unimpeded Stay exposed to moisture and the known edge strips only provide inadequate protection against the dangerous effects of steam, which not only lead to swelling of the chipboard, but also to detachment of the laminates and protective films.
The invention is therefore based on the object to eliminate these deficiencies and the like or a chipboard. To create the type described above, which is characterized by its special moisture resistance in low-cost production and is fully usable even under strong wet and steam influences without the risk of swelling.
The invention solves this problem in that the edge strip or the like from a paint coat. exists, which forms a bead extending along the edge to the end face up to the bevel of the end face laminate. Through this paint line or the like. There is a rational sealing of the end of the underside area, the bead ensuring that the liquids draining off at the front end face drips off safely and, together with the rest of the lacquer layer, the area of the underside of the panel that is exposed to moisture and, in the presence of a protective film, the connection joint to prevent any penetration seals from moisture in the interior of the plate. Both a complete vapor barrier and a drip protection are created so that swelling of the chipboard is no longer to be feared. All correspondingly moisture-resistant, fast-curing lacquers, for example UV lacquers, fast-drying adhesives and the like, are suitable for producing the lacquer coat. Plastic spreads, which after the actual chipboard production by means of rollers, spraying, brushes and the like. be applied. The width of the paint line depends on the size of the Overhang of the worktop, so that no unprotected plate parts remain, which is particularly important for achieving a safe vapor barrier.
In the drawing, a chipboard according to the invention is illustrated, for example, using a schematic cross section.
