Claims (10)

  1. Apparatus for loading and unloading a bulk material onto or from a reel (1) by winding and unwinding a cloth (8) for supporting a layer of said material comprising:
    - a motorized support for a main reel (1) ;
    - a secondary reel (2) also motorized and provided with fixing means (16) for an end (8a) of a cloth (8) whose other end is fixed to the reel (1) to be loaded and unloaded ; and
    - a return roll (3) having an axis parallel to the axis of said reels (1, 2) characterized in that the secondary reel (2) is situated vertically beneath the reel (1) and comprises means (16) allowing fastening and releasing of the end (8a) of the cloth and in that the return reel (3) is displaceable parallel to itself on a fixed guide disposed between the two reels (1, 2) and extending perpendicularly to the plane of the cloth extending between the reels, between a first retracted position where it is out of contact with the cloth (8) and a second or active position where it is in contact with the cloth (8) in order to force it to form a substantially horizontal bight (9) between the two reels (1, 2).
  2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that it includes displacement means (4) for displacing the return roll (3) along the guide (4), and constituted by two mutually parallel endless flexible drive members having the ends of the roll (3) fixed thereto, a table (10) for supporting the upper run (9a) of the cloth being disposed between said members and behind the roll (3) relative to its direction of displacement on going from its first position towards its second position.

Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the motorized support of the main reel is moveable along its own axis between two positions, one position being for loading and unloading, and the other position being a position for treating the substance inside an enclosure (15).
  5. Apparatus according to any one of claim 1 to 4, characterized in that it constitutes the loading and unloading apparatus for each of the stations of a machine for treating full reels (1 1a, 1b).
  6. Apparatus according to claim 5, characterized in that the stroke of the displacement means (4) for displacing the return roll (3) is such that its retracted position is at least as far from the active position as the reel (1a) of the furthest away treatment station is from said active position.
  7. Apparatus according to claim 6, characterized in that the secondary reel (2) and the secondary guide roll (7) are carried by a frame (11) which is displaceable and fixable level with each treatment station.
  8. Apparatus according to claim 7, characterized in that each treatment station includes a fixed secondary reel (2, 2a, 2b) and a fixed guide roll (7, 7a, 7b).
  9. Apparatus according to claim 5 characterized in that the motorized support of the main reel (1), the secondary reel (2), the return rolls (3, 7), and the means for displacing one or other of them (4) are carried by a moving frame (12) which is displaceable between each of the above-mentioned stations.
  10. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that the secondary reel (2) has a split hub (16) in order to releasably fix the weighted free end (8a) of the cloth (8).
