Definitions
- the present invention relates to a window regulator device for a motor vehicle, comprising rotary drive means, a transmission belt which follows a closed path passing over a drum associated with the drive means and over upper and lower return pads having convex curved tracks on which the belt slides while sliding, a carriage fixed to the window and to the flexible transmission member between the upper and lower return pads, and guide means associated with this carriage, said belt being provided with engagement means which cooperate with corresponding engagement means provided on the drum.
- window regulators of this kind have the advantage of low weight, good water resistance and above all excellent durability even in the absence of maintenance work, while being competitively priced thanks to the use of a majority of molded plastic parts.
- EP-A-0 023 7h describes such a device, in which the motor mechanism comprises a planetary gear intended in particular to allow alternately a motorized drive and a manual drive by crank.
- any failure preventing the operation of the motor has the effect of preventing any movement of the window, even by " manual drive of the main shaft of the mechanism, since the latter is blocked by the reduction gear associated with the motor.
- the solution adopted in the known device consists in connecting the reduction gear to the main axis by means of a planetary gear, the planet carrier of which is connected to a manual emergency drive.
- this solution is disadvantageous because that such a mechanism is relatively expensive, bulky and heavy.
- the rotation of the planet carrier must be blocked to allow motorized drive and also to prevent the mechanism from rotating under the effect of an applied downward thrust on the glass by a thief trying to break into the door.
- the present invention therefore aims to improve the aforementioned known device, so as to achieve a simpler construction, light and inexpensive, and to provide better protection against forced opening attempts.
- the device is characterized in that the drive means comprise a drive pinion which is integral with a main axis and which is housed in an axial bore with internal toothing of the drum, the toothing of the pinion being meshed over its entire circumference with the internal toothing of the drum, and in that the main axis is associated with a manual actuation means and with a motorized actuation means comprising a wheel provided with an axial bore in which the main axis is arranged coaxially, in that the bore has at least one internal crown projecting from the interior and the main axis has at least one corresponding external projecting crown arranged to engage in said crown of the wheel, the axial length of these crowns being less than the length of said drive pinion, and in that the main axis is sliding, to pass from a drive position motorized in which the respective toothed rings are meshed one inside the other, in a manual drive position in which said crowns are released from each other without the drive pinion being entirely released from the toothing of
- the axial bore of said wheel may comprise two toothed rings separated by a distance greater than their respective widths, and the main axis then comprises two corresponding toothed rings separated by the same distance as the rings of the wheel.
- each of said return pads has a central hole disposed on the inside of the curvature of the track and the pad is carried by a fixed finger engaged in this orifice so that the pad can pivot around this finger. at a limited angle, while at least a longitudinal part of the track is eccentric with respect to the central orifice, the end of the track directed towards the side of the drum being more distant from this orifice than the end directed from the side of the carriage.
- Said orifice of the shoe and the corresponding part of the fixed finger can be partially spherical, so that the shoe can undergo a limited transverse inclination relative to this finger if the belt is not straight between the two return shoes.
- the carriage comprises a plastic part having at least one transverse protuberance intended to be engaged in a recess provided in the glass, at least one longitudinal protuberance intended to slide along a guide, and perforated tabs for the fixing the carriage to the ends of the belt, said transverse protuberance comprising a head arranged to cooperate with a locking clip which retains this protuberance in the recess of the glass.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic side elevation view of one form of belt-operated window-lifting device according to the present invention
- FIG. 2 is a schematic front view of this device
- FIG. 3 is a partial view of the belt
- the figure is a partial cross-sectional view of a form of the drive mechanism
- FIG. 5 is a side view of a belt return shoe
- FIGS. 6 and 7 are cross-sectional views of this shoe, respectively along lines VI-VI and VII-VII of FIG. 5, _ ⁇ _
- FIG. 8 is a sectional view of part of the skate, in a particular embodiment
- FIGS. 9, 10 and 1 1 represent a carriage forming part of the device, respectively in side view, in cross section along the line X - X and in front view,
- FIGS. 12 and 13 represent, on an enlarged scale and respectively in lateral view and in cross section, a clip used to fix the glass on the carriage illustrated by FIGS. 9 to 11,
- FIG. 1 * is a partial cross-sectional view of a preferred embodiment of the drive mechanism of the device according to the invention, in a motorized drive position, and
- Figure 15 is a view similar to Figure 14 showing the same mechanism in a manual drive position.
- the window-lift device for a motor vehicle comprises a guide-support assembly comprising a guide 1, constituted by a metal or plastic profile arranged in the direction of movement of the window, of the tabs 2 and 3 for fixing this guide in the vehicle; for example in a door, and two supports and 5 for supporting respectively an upper shoe 6 and a lower shoe 7 serving as elements for returning the transmission member constituted by a flat belt 8, intended to slide on these two shoes.
- the belt 8 passes over a driving drum 9, housed in a housing 10 and connected to a drive mechanism 11.
- the drum 9 and the mechanism 1 1 are visible in more detail in Figure ⁇ .
- the drum 9 is a plastic part, having a cylindrical peripheral surface 13 along which the belt 8 is applied for about a quarter of a turn.
- This surface 13 is provided with a series of regularly spaced teeth 1 ⁇ , which engage in perforations 15 distributed along the central portion of the belt 8, to mesh between the belt and the drum.
- the housing 10 is close to the top of the teeth 14 and it has two slots (not shown) allowing the entry and exit of the belt. Thus, a sliding of the belt 8 on the drum 9 is impossible.
- FIG. 3 shows that the belt 8 is only perforated in its central part 8a, with the exception of two orifices 16 formed respectively at its ends, with a view to connecting them as will be described later.
- the drum 9 has an axial bore 18 into which a recess 19 of the housing 10 penetrates, to maintain the position of the drum.
- the peripheral surface of the bore 18 has an internal toothing which is meshed over its entire circumference with the external toothing of a pinion 20 integral with a main axis 21 of the drive mechanism 1 1. An embodiment of this mechanism will be described later. It should be noted that the assembly described above of the drum 9 on the pinion 20 is advantageous in that it allows moderate stresses between the pinion and the drum, at the same time as an axial clearance which is. advantageous for mounting and which allows an advantageous switching between a motorized drive and a manual drive.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 also show a carriage 22 which is fixed at the two ends of the belt 8 and which is arranged to slide along the guide 1.
- the carriage 22 supports a window 23 by means of a curved tab 24 and it is attached to the glass in a manner which will be described later.
- the profile constituting the guide 1 is bent longitudinally. In fact, its curvature corresponds to the curvature of the window 23, which is assumed to be curved in this particular case.
- the device described above can be applied to both flat glass and include a straight guide.
- Figures 5 a. 7 show a particular embodiment of the upper shoe 6 consisting of a single piece of molded synthetic material, for example polyamide.
- This shoe has on its peripheral surface a convex curved track 26, on which the belt slides
- the pad Inside the curve drawn by the track 26, the pad is' provided with a central orifice 28 whose axis is substantially parallel to the surface of the track 26.
- the central part of the pad comprises a projection 29, while its intermediate part is lightened by recesses 30.
- the orifice 28 of the shoe is fitted onto a finger 31 (FIG.
- Figure 8 shows an advantageous variant for mounting the pads 6 or 7 on their respective supports.
- the shoe 6 has a central orifice 28 'which has the shape of a spherical segment, the support finger then also having a corresponding spherical shape (not shown) to constitute a kind of ball allowing a transverse inclination of the shoe. 6, and lateral shoulders limiting this inclination by abutment against lateral surfaces 33 of the skate.
- This ball joint mounting is advantageous in combination with a guide 1 which is curved, because it allows the pad to take at all times, the optimal orientation controlled by the belt 8, and in particular by the section of this belt lying between the pa 'tin and the carriage 22, which avoids transverse bending of the belt when the carriage occupies a position offset laterally relative to a straight line connecting the two pads.
- FIG. 5 shows that the sliding track 26 of the skate comprises a longitudinal portion 26a having a profile in an arc of a circle centered on the orifice 28, while the other part 26b of the track is eccentric, being more distant from the center of the orifice 28 as the part 26a.
- This eccentric longitudinal profile has the effect of keeping the belt 8 taut when the window goes down, that is to say when the friction
- a preferred form of the carriage 22 is shown in detail in FIGS. 9 to 1 1. It is a one-piece element molded from rigid synthetic material, having on one side a longitudinal protuberance
- the stud 34 is designed to be fitted into an opening or notch in the window 23, while the lower edge of this window rests on the curved tab 24 of the lower end of the carriage 22, as shown in Figures 1 to 2.
- the carriage is then locked against the window by means of an elastic clip fixed in the groove 35 of the stud 34.
- Figures 12 and 13 show an example of such a clip 37 made of rigid synthetic material.
- the latter has an opening 38 intended to receive the stud 34 and surrounded by a curved edge 39 ensuring an elastic tightening of the window.
- the other end of the clip 37 is a curved tab 40 which can be locked against the tab 24 of the carriage.
- Figures 14 and 15 show a particular embodiment of the drive mechanism of the window lifter device according to the present invention, in the case where a drive by electric motor is provided.
- a drive by electric motor is provided.
- the reduction gear is connected to the main axis by means of a planetary gear, the planet carrier of which is connected a. emergency manual training.
- this solution is "disadvantageous because such a mechanism is relatively expensive, bulky and heavy.
- the present invention makes it possible to solve this problem without adding additional parts to the mechanism, simply by virtue of a particular and inexpensive conformation of the elements usually used.
- the end pinion 120 of the main axis 105 carries a toothed drum 109, the production of which is somewhat different from that of the drum 9 but the operation of which is similar.
- the drum 109 has an internal toothing which meshes at 150, over its entire circumference, in the straight toothing of the pinion 120 and can slide axially thereon.
- the main axis 105 of the mechanism coaxially crosses a pinion of output 151 of a reduction gear associated with an electric motor.
- the central bore 152 of the pinion 151 has two protruding toothed rings 153 and 154 arranged in parallel and spaced apart by a distance which is greater than the width of each ring.
- the main axis 105 has on its outer surface two corresponding toothed rings 155 and 156 arranged to be engaged simultaneously in the crowns 153 and 154 in the position illustrated in Figure 14.
- the crowns 155 and 156 have the same spacing axial than the crowns 153 and 154.
- the pinion 151 is integral in rotation with the axis 105 and allows a motorized drive of the window lifter device.
- a retractable crank (not shown) is fixed to the end 157 of the axis 105.
- this axis can slide in the drum 109 and in the bore 152 of the pinion 151 to take the manual drive position illustrated in FIG. 15.
- the teeth of the crowns 155 and 156 of the axis ' are then released from the crowns 153 and 154 of the pinion and their heads can slide against the surfaces.
- es cylindrical of the bore 152 thanks to the fact that the axial distance between the crowns is greater than the width of the crowns.
- the pinion 120 has a sufficient length so that its toothing remains engaged in the toothing of the drum 109.
- a front recess 158 is provided in the pinion 15 T to allow the pinion 120 to pass and serve as a stop. In this position, the axis 105 and the drum 109 can be manually rotated to actuate the window regulator, even if the pinion 151 is blocked.
- the two crowns 153 and 155 would be sufficient for the drive, but the presence of two pairs of crowns is advantageous for ensuring the maintenance of the axis 105 and of the pinion 151 in respective coaxial positions, which makes it possible to arrange the bearings
- the crown 154 could be eliminated and the crown 156 could be smooth.
- the pinion 151 can advantageously be made of synthetic material.
- the perforations 15 of the belt can be replaced by other engagement means, for example lateral notches or lateral teeth, cooperating with corresponding teeth provided on the drum 9.
- the belt 8 one can also use a toothed belt on one side, with a drum also notched.
- the belt can also be continuous and the carriage can have a member such as a toothing or a notched housing to be fixed to the belt without risk of slipping.
- the device described above by way of example can also be the subject of numerous other modifications or variants obvious to those skilled in the art, without departing from the scope of the invention.
- different materials can be used to make the belt 8, in particular a flexible synthetic material reinforced with glass fibers or metallic fibers.
- the fact that the belt is perforated only in its part which cooperates with the drum is advantageous from the point of view of the strength, rigidity and longevity of the belt.
- the device according to the invention can be used both in a door and in a fixed part of a vehicle.

Abstract
A motorized and manual window lift device which features a simple construction and ensures strong retention of the window against forced opening attempts. A carriage (22) fixed to the window (23) and sliding in a guide (1) is fixed at both ends of a flat belt (8) which slides on two return shoes (6 and 7) made of synthetic material. This belt is perforated or notched in its part passing over a toothed drum (9). This is slidably mounted on a toothed pinion of a main sliding axle which passes through a motorized drive mechanism (11). Sliding the main axis releases it from the motorized drive, but does not release its pinion from the drum (9), in order to allow manual drive. The device can be used in a door or in a fixed part of a vehicle.
