Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a new type of official document for personal use, a manufacturing process and a device for implementing the process.
  • official document for personal use means all the documents emanating from a state body, issued to a particular individual, containing at least information relating to the identity of said individual. Usually, the period of validity of such a document is determined by said state body.
  • identity card the passport, the driving license, the vehicle registration certificate, the social security card.
  • the documents which are currently in force include insertions such as prints or watermarks which make it relatively difficult to reproduce them.
  • these safety devices do not guarantee one hundred percent the authenticity of their manufacture and their origin. Thus, regularly, false documents are put into circulation.
  • GB-A-1 548 588 describes a process for manufacturing security documents (identity cards for example), as well as these documents themselves.
  • the method consists of printing on a roll of photographic type paper, so-called security patterns, then coating the latter with a photosensitive emulsion.
  • the roll of paper is then cut so as to obtain cards of the desired size.
  • photographs of information to be transferred to the cards are established on photographic film.
  • the proofs are drawn so as to obtain the positive information on the cards. These are finally coated with a plastic protection.
  • the document comprises a photographic paper support, coated on one side with a hot-melt layer of baryte and security prints. On this same face are affixed chronologically a layer of photographic emulsion, a protective layer of gelatin and a plasticizing protective film. The second side is also coated with a plasticizing film.
  • EP-A-0 145 473 Another solution described in EP-A-0 145 473 consists in manufacturing an identification card which includes an engraved image of its holder and which is formed of several layers of different natures. This is a difficult technique to implement, the etching operation being complex to perform.
  • GB-A-2 129 371 describes an identity card which comprises a security support paper, the two sides of which are coated with a protective film.
  • the protective film consists of a polyester resin film which is attached to the backing paper by a hot-melt polyethylene coating.
  • a security paper likely to receive annotations (such as official stamps). The latter being directly accessible, it is possible to falsify the annotations found there.
  • the present invention aims to provide a new type of official document for personal use which overcomes the drawbacks of the techniques already known.
  • said support paper is coated on one of its faces with a plasticizer film. It is preferably a polyester / polyethylene complex.
  • the document of the present invention has at least on one of its faces, a holographic film interposed between the support paper and the hot-melt film.
  • fiduciary paper means a paper of the "bank note” type, the support paper advantageously comprising at least one means which makes it possible to control its authenticity. These means are, for example, chosen from the following group: watermark, security thread, fluorescent fibers, iris printing, microline text, intaglio printing, printing produced with visible or invisible fluorescent ink.
  • said backing paper is coated with a gelatin-based thermal reagent which alienates the backing paper by coloring at a temperature in the region of 120 ° C, in order to make it unusable if manipulation is attempted thermally.
  • the present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such a document as well as a device for its implementation.
  • the two sides front and back
  • this will be photographed simultaneously on a single self-positive film which will then be cut in half; the two parts obtained will then be applied after turning one of them over the two sides of the document and assembled with it.
  • identity cards 1 and 1 ′ consist of a backing paper 2 which preferably consists of a fiduciary paper.
  • This backing paper comprises, in its very structure, at least one means enabling its authenticity to be checked.
  • These means consist, for example, of a watermark, a fluorescent fiber security thread, an iris print, a microline text, an intaglio print, a print produced with a visible or invisible fluorescent ink.
  • the backing paper is coated, on each of its faces, with a thermal reagent 3 based on gelatin, which colors at a temperature in the region of 120 ° C., thus rendering it unusable .
  • This thermal reagent is particularly useful when the backing paper consists of fiduciary paper because it allows the authenticity to be checked. In addition, it seems that such paper has a tendency to defoliate when subjected to a high temperature. For unauthorized persons, the possibilities of reproducing such paper are then considerably reduced.
  • the thermal reagent which covers the paper makes the latter unusable even before its sheets are detached from each other. Thus, no information relating to the structure of the paper can be obtained by a possible counterfeiter.
  • holographic film means a film of known type, for example based on aluminum, comprising a holographic print. According to the invention, such a film may have an area less than or equal to the area of the backing paper. The insertion of such a film, for example in an identity card, makes it possible to secure the document by preventing its reproduction.
  • This film hot melt consists, for example, of a copolymer of ethylene, acrylic ester and maleic anhydride.
  • the hot-melt film is coated with a film which consists of a self-positive photographic film 6.
  • a self-positive film is defined as being a film capable of providing directly by development and fixing, an image of the same polarity as that of the original. It is arranged in such a way that the photo-sensitive emulsion 7 is on the side of the backing paper.
  • the backing paper coated with a thermal reagent present on one of its faces, the same coatings as those already described with reference to Figure 1, that is to say, a holographic film, a hot-melt film as well as a self-positive photographic film.
  • the other side of the backing paper is, for its part, covered with a plasticizing film 8 which preferably consists of a polyester / polyethylene complex of known type.
  • a plasticizing film 8 which preferably consists of a polyester / polyethylene complex of known type. The function of such a film is to protect the backing paper in order to limit wear.
  • the document object of the present invention consists of an identity card
  • the latter must present impressions relating to the identity of its owner; it must also include a photo of the individual, as well as his signature and, where applicable, a fingerprint.
  • the impressions relating to the identity of the owner will be supported for example by the support paper while the photographic image, the signature and the fingerprint of the individual will be transferred to the self-positive photographic film. .
  • impressions relating to the identity of the individual may also be transferred to the same photographic film.
  • the document illustrated in Figure 1 will present, for example on one side of the backing paper, a copy of the owner's signature and on the other, his fingerprint.
  • the present invention also relates to a process for the continuous production of documents such as those described above.
  • the first step of this process consists in reading by optical means and in processing by computer means, information contained in a number n, greater than or equal to 1, of pre-established forms: this information will appear on the documents when they these will be manufactured.
  • the number n is, for example equal to 10.
  • This information is preferably alphanumeric information. For example, this may be information relating to the civil status of the person for whom the official document is intended.
  • the IT resources mentioned above make it possible to verify the content of the information read.
  • software can detect an abnormally large number of successive consonants and then blocks the continuation of the process.
  • the next step is to develop, by means of known type, the self-positive film from the previous step.
  • the self-positive photographic film is then supplied simultaneously, as well as the necessary quantity of hot-melt film and, optionally of plasticizing film to allow the assembly of said documents. This is done by heating said films.
  • stamping means the fact of creating, on the thickness of said document, an effigy in relief.
  • the documents are then cut out individually.
  • the information printed on said documents is then checked by optical reading means and compared with the information read and processed by computer means during the first step of the process.
  • the present invention also relates to a device for implementing the method described above.
  • Figure 3 illustrates, very schematically an exemplary embodiment.
  • This device comprises optical reading means 10 which are used for reading information contained in forms 11. These means consist, for example, of a camera of the linear CCD type with 1024 point resolution. These means 10 are associated with computer processing means 12 for the information previously read. This information is of alpha numeric type.
  • the forms are brought, by drive means 13, to a photographic bench 14.
  • This bench 14 includes a support made of transparent material 15, on which the forms are brought by the drive means 13.
  • the bench 14 also includes a support 16 fitted with 16 ′ photographic lenses.
  • the number of objectives is equal to the number of forms present on the support 15.
  • the photographic bench is also provided with a third support 17 intended to receive a self-positive photographic film 18. This self-positive film is held against the support 17 by suction means 19.
  • the information photographed using this bench is, for example, the photographic image of the person for whom the document is intended, his fingerprint, his signature.
  • the forms are transported by the drive means 13 to a receptacle 20.
  • the self-positive film while it has been exposed, is conveyed by drive means 21 to photographic development baths 22.
  • the device also includes means 23 for supplying support paper. It will be recalled that the backing paper already has, if desired on at least one of its faces, a holographic film.
  • the backing paper is driven by means 24 to printing means 25, 25 ′ of information read by means of the means 10 previously described. These printing means consist for example of impact or thermal transfer printers.
  • a plasticizer film is supplied by means of a device 26, as well as a hot-melt film 27 by means 28, to assembly means 29.
  • the previously developed photographic film is routed to the assembly means 29 by drive means 21 ′.
  • These assembly means 29 consist, for example, of heating means which allow the different films to bond together.
  • the documents then made up are cut out individually by means 30 and sent to optical reading means 31.
  • the content of the document is then checked by comparison with the information read with the device 10. After processing, the documents are received in receptacle 32.
  • the previously described device allows the production of documents which comprise, on one side, a plasticizer film. It is understood that this can be modified to allow the production of documents comprising, on each side, a self-positive photographic film. The same self-positive film is then exposed simultaneously for the front and back sides of the document. It is then cut and a part is turned over by turning bars for the assembly of the document.
  • the content of the two sides of the document will then be verified by turning it over in front of the optical reading means 31.
  • the document according to the invention can have the following thicknesses:
