Abstract

The invention relates to a middle beam for a window frame having an inner metal profile insert and a facing spar which covers the latter on at least three outer sides, the profile insert being connected by means of screw connections in the region of its two front ends to frame elements of the window frame. According to the invention, such a middle beam is to be designed in such a way that it can be manufactured in a more cost-effective manner and be simpler to assemble and offer the possibility of subjecting the middle beam to substantially greater loading without altering the cross-section of said beam. This is achieved according to the invention in that the profile insert (1) consists of two identical profile halves (2, 3) but which are arranged in mirror image fashion to one another, these halves having the basic form of a "U" and being arranged relative to each other by the base limb, each base limb 2 having beads (4, 5) running parallel at a distance to one another in the longitudinal direction, which beads together form two screw channels (6, 7). <IMAGE>

Description

DE-A-3 306 426).The invention relates to a center girder for window frames with an inner metal profile insert and a blind beam cladding it on at least three outer sides, the profile insert being connectable to frame elements of the window frame via screw connections in the region of its two end faces. Such center beams are known and customary on multi-leaf window frames for dividing the total window area. They are often made of plastic as hollow profiles and have an inner, metal, box-shaped profile insert, which is intended to provide the necessary rigidity for this center beam. This box-shaped profile insert has a central screw channel which is connected to the profile walls via webs (cf., for example, DE-A-3 306 426).

The production of such box-shaped profile inserts is extremely expensive. So that production is even possible with reasonable effort, aluminum must be selected as the material, which is expensive as such and compared to, for example. Steel has a significantly lower modulus of elasticity. In addition, however, the assembly of such profile inserts of the prior art is complex because they have to be screwed to the side walls of the blind bars surrounding them so as not to rattle when the movement is caused by an alternating load. Frequently, a shoe attached to the frame element of the window frame is also used on the end faces for fastening, into which the respective end face of the box-shaped profile insert is inserted and screwed from the front face. This requires an additional manufacturing effort and an additional assembly effort.

Because of the use of aluminum for the box-shaped profile insert, the load-bearing capacity of such center beams, for example against wind forces in large windows, is quite limited, if one does not want to accept disproportionately large cross-sectional dimensions.

The invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a center girder of the type described at the outset, which is very inexpensive to produce and very easy to assemble and which, by its construction, offers the possibility of making the center girder considerably more resilient without changing the cross section of the center girder.

This object is achieved in that the profile insert consists of two identical but mirror-inverted profile halves, each having the basic shape of a "U" and arranged with the base leg against each other, each base leg two parallel to each other and extending in the longitudinal direction Has beads, which together form two screw channels.

Further advantageous configurations of a center support according to the invention can be found in subclaims 2 to 7.

In the case of a central girder of the type according to the invention, the blending bar previously used can be retained completely and unchanged in its usual dimensions. If the two profile halves of the invention placed against one another are cut to length and inserted into the blind beam, then they can be screwed through the frame elements of the window frame through the two parallel screw channels from the end faces and tightened against these frame elements at the end. The screws to be inserted into the screw channels automatically cut the necessary thread into the screw channels and at the same time spread the screw channels and thus move the two profile halves away from each other, so that the end faces of the parallel legs firmly rest against the inner sides of the walls of the surround beam press. It is no longer necessary to screw the profile insert to the walls of the blind spar.

The inventive design of the profile insert as an element consisting of two profile halves makes it possible to bend and roll the profile insert from sheet metal, preferably even sheet steel. The use of highly complicated and very expensive special tools for the production of the profile insert is no longer necessary. Simple and conventional sheet metal processing machines are sufficient. The use of sheet steel instead of the usual aluminum profile insert makes the center beam significantly more resistant and rigid with the same dimensions of the blind beam. It is also no longer necessary to produce complicated screw channels. Rather, simple rectangular beads suffice for this, which, when placed against one another, leave a square opening into which a self-tapping screw can be screwed.

The easily possible bends or folds on the parallel U-legs in such profile inserts according to the invention ensures an improvement in the strength kit and the torsional rigidity of the profile insert according to the invention.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show an embodiment. Show it:

Figure 2
Section along the line II-II of Figure 1

7 bildet.FIG. 1 shows a cross section through a customary plastic spar 8 which is placed vertically on a frame element 13 of a window frame (not shown). FIG. 2 shows such a frame element 13 in cross-section and here the central support in a side view. In the cavity 14 of the blind beam 8 there is a profile insert 1, which is bent from sheet steel and consists of the profile halves 2 and 3, which each have the same shape, but are arranged in mirror image relative to one another. Each Half of the profile has the basic shape of a "U". Here, however, the base leg of this "U" is longer than the parallel side legs. In the base legs of each profile half 2, 2 beads 4 and 5 are incorporated at a distance from one another and running parallel to one another, so that the base legs placed against one another in the area of the beads 4 and 5 enclose an approximately square cavity, each having a screw channel 6 and 7 respectively forms.

The free ends of the parallel legs of the respective profile halves 2 and 3 can have tabs 11 bent approximately at right angles to improve the torsional rigidity, but preferably have tabs 12 that are completely folded over, which are applied to the associated parallel legs and also applied to the associated base legs, and in this case cover the beads 4 and 5 on the outside, as can be seen in FIG. 1.

The dimensions of the profile inserts are such that they have the play 10 when the screws 9 are screwed into the screw channels 6 and 7 from the end faces and thus the two profile halves 2 and 3 have spread. This makes it possible to use the two profile halves very easily and with play, but on the other hand to ensure that the profile halves are pressed into the blind beam 8 after proper fastening.

The profile insert according to the invention designed, used and fastened in this way results in an extremely resistant and rigid central support for window frames. The production of the necessary parts themselves is extremely cheap and it is also very easy to assemble and therefore also cheap.
