Abstract

The baler (1) for paper and similar fibre-containing and moisture-absorbing material comprises a press box (3) which can be filled from above and a press ram (6) which can be moved forward in said box from a withdrawn rest position by means of a drive and which possesses, behind a pressing plate (8) which essentially covers the cross-section of the press box (3), laterally concealed rollers (15, 17) for supporting the press ram (6) on roller conveyors (base 19) of the press box (3). To protect the rollers (15, 17) from the risk of blocking as a result of dusty material, which is compressed and hardens in the moist state, the baler (1) is designed in such a way that, of the rollers (15, 17), at least the rollers (15) which lie closest to the press plate are substantially enclosed on their circumferential side by a cover (25) of a smooth, water-rejecting plastic and/or metal, the cover (25) leaving only a narrow gap for movement with respect to the rollers (15, 17). Such a cover preferably has the basic form of a continuous ingot strip which possesses recesses for the rollers, but, moreover, projects laterally with respect to the rollers, in order to form a sliding block between the press ram (6) and the press box (3). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a baling press according to the preamble of claim 1. Baling presses of this type, in particular high-performance presses designed as channel baling presses, are to be designed robustly not only because of the required pressing pressures and spreading pressures, but also because of the amount of crushed material, dust and dirt that is difficult to control. The penetration of moist paper dust must be taken into account, in particular in the case of balers for paper, the material to be pressed may be exposed to damp weather.

A critical area for this is the intermediate area between the press ram and the press box, which is essentially covered on the front by a press plate, but cannot be completely shielded against the ingress of paper dust.

In unfavorable cases, especially in damp weather, the spaces between the press ram and the press box can absorb paper dust, which can compress and harden to a mass due to moisture and mechanical action of the moving parts, which can only be removed with heavy tools during maintenance.

On the other hand, this mass can, if it is not removed in time, enclose the rollers or block them on the underside in the manner of a brake wedge, which makes the press ram heavy becomes common and can be damaged as a result of grinding loads on the rollers and roller conveyors.

The object of the invention is to provide a baler which is press-compatible, i.e. Robust means in particular provide reliable protection against blocking and damage to the rollers by ingress of dust.

According to the invention for this task from a baler according to the preamble of claim 1 starting with the characterizing features of claim 1 solved. Decisive for the solution according to the invention is the knowledge that the penetration of dust into the intermediate area between the press ram and the press box cannot be prevented even with complex means. Accordingly, the effect of the cover is initially aimed at blocking the action of (moist) dust on the rollers and, on the other hand, also avoiding rubbing on dust nests or dust plugs in order to prevent dangerous compression and hardening of these plugs. By tightly enclosing the respective roll, it prevents massaging of dust material and creates a dragging effect between the cover and the roll, which achieves a self-cleaning effect. For this purpose, it is advantageous if the material of the cover is smooth and water-repellent, so that dirt does not adhere to the material.

It is particularly advantageous for the cover to be guided around the rollers to such an extent that a contact area of the rollers remains free only on the underside. Primarily, the underneath support rollers near the press plate, which are particularly at risk, will have to be protected, but the cover can also enclose rollers located further back.

A preferred embodiment provides the form of a continuous block strip for the cover, which closes at the front with the press plate and which projects laterally opposite the rollers, so that it also has a slide shoe for lateral guidance of the in a version made of a lubricious material such as polyamide plastic Press ram in the press box forms.

  • Fig. 1 Seitenansicht von Preßkasten und Preßstempel einer Ballenpresse (im Schnitt nach Linie I-I in Fig.2) und
  • Fig. 2 schnittbildliche Draufsicht nach Linie II-II in Fig. 1.
Further features and advantages of the invention result from the claims and the following description, in which an embodiment of the object of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing. The drawings show a schematic sectional illustration in each case
  • Fig. 1 side view of the press box and ram of a baler (in section along line II in Fig.2) and
  • FIG. 2 shows a sectional top view along line II-II in FIG. 1.

For the sake of simplicity, the baler designated 1 in the drawing is shown only in a partial section, in which the side view according to FIG passes with pressed paper material 5. A press ram 6 can be advanced through the press box 3 into the press channel 4, the drive being effected via a piston rod 7 of a pressure medium-actuated actuator (not shown). The press die 6 closes on the front side with a press plate 8 which is largely adapted to the cross section of the press box 3 and the press channel 4.

A cutting bar 9 is provided on the cutting line between the feed chute 2 and the press channel 4, which allows material protruding beyond the press plate 8 and the press channel 4 to be sheared off and thus to prevent blocking or jamming.

The press ram 6 is usually closed at the top by a cover plate (not shown), which largely prevents the entry of paper and dirt into cavities of the press ram 6. These cavities include, in addition to vertical slits 10 on the front, which are used when strapping the finished bales with wire for the passage of wire and strapping tools are to be provided, lateral gaps between vertical side walls 11, 12 of the press ram and vertical side walls 13, 14 of the press box. On both sides there are clearances between the walls and thus spaces in which lower rollers 15, 16 (at a short distance behind the press plate 8 and 17, 18 at a greater distance from the press plate) are mounted on the plunger. With these four rollers, the plunger 6 is supported on the underside on two roller tracks, which are formed in the region of the plunger 3 by a full-surface bottom 19 and further back (not shown) by separate rails, in order to allow loose dust material to fall down there if possible can.

On the upper side of the plunger 6, further rollers 20, 21 are provided, which support the plunger in a downward manner against the upper roller tracks of the press box.

It goes without saying that the press plate 8 must keep a movement gap to the walls of the press box 3 and the press channel 4 in order to avoid a grinding system and also a risk of jamming when material enters. In addition, special recesses are necessary in certain cases if the pressure plate 8, for example, should pass into the press channel 4 retaining fingers 22, 23, 24, which prevent the pressed material from elastically returning to the press box.

Gefährdet sind dabei die untenliegenden Rollen 15,16,17 und 18.The resulting gaps and openings between the press plate 8 and the walls of the press box 3 and press channel 4 inevitably allow the passage of dust or moist paper mass into the space to be kept free for the rolls. When exposed to moisture, paper pulp or other fibrous and moisture-absorbing material can condense and solidify during the work of the baler and assume a rock-hard consistency that blocks the rollers. The rollers 15, 16, 17 and 18 below are at risk.

The danger is effectively countered according to the invention in that the rollers 15, 17 and 16, 18 each in pairs by one Block bar 25 and 26 are covered. This block strip-shaped cover 25 and 26, in particular, encloses the rollers 15, 16 adjacent to the pressing plate 8 except for a narrow movement gap 27. The rollers are therefore not only covered against dust, it in particular prevents the formation of plugs of dust and densify in interaction with the role. In this regard, the block strips 25, 26 are pulled through to the pressure plate 8, on the rear side of which.

The movement gap 27 prevents large material masses from sticking because of its narrowness, but at the same time it creates a self-cleaning effect in which any small dust masses are ejected with the rotation of the roller.

For this purpose, it is advantageous that the block strips consist of a water-repellent and smooth plastic, which counteracts a build-up of dust on the plastic.

The block strips are also continued to the rear rollers 17, 18 and cover them at least in the area of the space between the rollers and on the upper side, again with a corresponding narrow movement gap between the block strip and roller. The top of the block strips 25, 26 forms a continuous straight surface on which dirt material is relatively difficult to attach and from which it is easy to remove.

The width of the block strips 25, 26 is not only so wide that they completely cover the rollers 15, 16, 17 and 18. They are also provided with a side overhang on the rollers. They are also able to take over the function of sliding shoes or rubbing strips to improve the lateral guidance of the press ram and to reduce material wear, frictional forces and noise with a sliding system. For this purpose, the block strips 25, 26 can also be designed with a lateral protrusion over the edge of the press plate 8, since the block strips to the side walls of the press box 3 and press channel 4 only have one need extremely small movement or sliding gap. For this function, a wear-resistant, lubricious material such as polyamide is preferably provided as the plastic. To increase the stability of this material, it can also be made fiber-reinforced, for example with a reinforcement by glass fiber, carbon fiber or metal fibers.

In principle, however, the block bar is not fixed to plastic in terms of material. Metal versions are also water-repellent and wear-resistant. Good glowing properties can be achieved with non-ferrous metals, especially bronze alloys, or gray cast iron. Long service lives can be achieved with steel alloys, which moreover allow the cover to be welded on instead of screw mounting or the like. Furthermore, the cover can be formed in several parts or in multiple layers from different materials, for example in order to design an outer cover plate for the function of a sliding or wearing surface.
