Description

The invention relates to an electromagnetic trip device with magnetic latching, in particular for a differential switch or circuit breaker comprising a U-shaped armature, the ends of the two legs of which constitute two coplanar pole surfaces, a pivoting pallet coming in the armed position of the trigger to stick. on said two pole surfaces for closing the magnetic circuit constituted by the armature and the pallet, a permanent magnet for polarizing said magnetic circuit and a trip coil surrounding the magnetic circuit, said pallet being pivotally mounted along the outer edge of the one of said pole surfaces, and cooperating with a bearing face integral with the frame, to position the pallet longitudinally.

It is important to have electromagnetic trip devices of the kind mentioned, with very high sensitivity which have a low dispersion and whose operation is reliable. The manufacture of these highly sensitive electromagnetic trip devices must be particularly careful, especially at the pole surfaces and the articulation of the pivoting pallet. A known trigger (FR-A-2261614) comprises a pivoting pallet having cutouts for positioning the pallet. In order to avoid any relative movement and any friction of the polar surfaces on each other during the pivoting movement of the pallet, it is essential to make the edge of the knife coincide with the outer edge of the polar surface of the reinforcement on the side of the joint. The cutting of the pallet is in the immediate vicinity of the polar surface thereof and when removing the burrs due to the stamping of the cutting, it is practically inevitable to damage the polar surface. The choice of the material of the pallet is moreover determined by the magnetic properties, and this material generally does not have sufficient hardness to constitute a knife of a joint. The treatments of the polar surfaces, in particular the electrolytic polishing, affect the properties of the knife and do not allow the achievement of an almost perfect joint, essential for the proper functioning of the trigger.

The present invention aims to allow the production of a high sensitivity electromagnetic trigger, in which the treatment of the pallet and more particularly of its pole surfaces, is independent of the articulation of the pivoting pallet.

The electromagnetic trip device according to the invention is characterized in that the pivot line of the pallet is defined by a knife joint whose knife belongs to an independent retaining piece, rigidly secured to the pallet, which said retaining piece carries stops which in combination with said knife cooperate with a bearing face integral with the frame, to position the pallet longitudinally and limit the longitudinal displacements of the pallet relative to the frame and avoid wear and dispersion due to the displacements and that the retaining part has overhanging edges folded in a square which laterally frame the pallet and the edge of which is cut in a bevel to form a knife for the articulation of the pallet.

By transferring the knife from the articulation to an independent part of the pallet, the materials of the pallet and of this articulation part can be different and are of course chosen according to the properties required. The retaining part is for example of steel, while the pallet can be of an iron-nickel alloy, of suitable magnetic property. The retaining part may be a plate, which is fixed to the pallet by welding at the end of manufacture, in particular after treatment of the polar surfaces of the pallet. The pallet is biased in the detachment position by a spring arranged so as to hold the knife against its bearing surface. The longitudinal movement of the pallet, corresponding to detachment of the knife from its bearing face, is limited by stops arranged opposite the knife on the retaining part secured to the pallet. The bearing face (s) of the knife of the joint are formed on a plate rigidly fixed to the frame and having two legs which project from the pole surface of the frame to fit between the knife and the stops carried by the retaining part. The material of this plate is of course chosen to constitute with the knife an articulation with low friction and high operating reliability.

  • la figure 1 est une vue schématique en coupe d'un déclencheur électromagnétique selon l'invention;
  • la figure 2 est une vue de détail de la figure 1, montrant la palette en position attirée;
Other advantages and characteristics will emerge more clearly from the description which follows, of an embodiment of the invention given by way of nonlimiting example, and represented in the appended drawing in which:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic sectional view of an electromagnetic trip device according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 is a detail view of Figure 1 showing the pallet in the attracted position;
  • FIG. 3 is a plan view of the pallet, shown in FIG. 2.

In the figures, the magnetic circuit of a high-sensitivity electromagnetic trip device consists of a U-shaped frame 10 and a pivoting pallet 12. The ends of the two arms 14, 16 of the frame 10 are arranged in polar surfaces 18 , 20 arranged in the same plane, against which surfaces, the pallet 12 is applied in the armed position of the trigger. The arm 14 of the armature 10 carries a coil 22, and between the arms 14,16 is interposed a permanent magnet 24 for polarizing the armature 10. The pallet 12 can pivot on an axis coinciding with the outer edge 26 of the pole surface 20 and it is biased in the detached position by a spring 28. The assembly is housed inside a housing 30 crossed by control pins 32. Such electromagnetic triggers are well known, and it suffices to recall that the pallet 12 is held in the adjoining position on the armature 10 by the permanent magnet 24 against the return force of the spring 28. The excitation of the coil 22 controls the release of the pallet 12 which pivots under the action of the spring 28 in the release position.

According to the invention, the pallet 12 is constituted by a rectangular plate of length greater than the spacing of the branches 14,16, so as to project beyond the side of the articulation 26 for the anchoring of the return spring 28. This plate 12 is chosen from an appropriate magnetic material and undergoes treatments, in particular polishing, necessary for the production of optimal polar surfaces. On the pallet 12 is fixed in the area of the articulation, a retaining part 34 which projects laterally from the pallet 12 and the branch 16 of the frame 10. The retaining part 34 in the form of a plate, for example in steel is pressed against the upper face of the pallet 12 opposite the pole surfaces and is rigidly fixed to this pallet 12 by welding, for example by two welding points 36. The two projecting edges of the retaining piece 34 are folded in at square 38 , 40 for laterally framing the pallet 12 and the edges of these brackets 38.40 are cut at a bevel to form knives 42 of the articulation of the pallet 12. At the outer edge of the branch 16 of the frame 10, is fixed a plate 44 ending in two legs 46,48 projecting from the pole surface 20 of the frame 10. The two legs 46,48 are arranged opposite the folded brackets 38,40 and the knives 42 come to bear on these legs 46.48 which constitutes ent the bearing face of the joint. The return spring 28 is slightly inclined so as to exert a component for supporting the knives 42 on the legs 46, 48. The legs 46, 48 are inserted between the knives 42, and retaining stops 50, 52, limiting the longitudinal movement of the pallet 12.

It is easy to see that in the attracted position of the pallet 12, shown in FIG. 2, the knife joint 42 unidirectionally positions the pallet 12 in the longitudinal direction, leaving the pallet complete freedom to press down on the surfaces polar 18.20. The knives 42 are aligned with the outer edge 26 of the pole surface 20 which constitutes the pivot axis of the pallet 12. When triggered, the pallet 12 pivots while being guided by the knives 42 and the edge 26, which avoids any relative movement of friction between the pole surfaces of the frame 10 and of the pallet 12. The guiding functions are entirely ensured by the retaining part 34 which is arranged accordingly while the pallet 12 only performs the magnetic functions of closing and opening the magnetic circuit of the trip device.

It is clear that the retaining part 34 can be arranged differently, and in particular be constituted by a machined part, fixed in any way to the pallet 12.
