Abstract

The web-winding mandrel comprises a core (10) which can be connected at one end to a drive device (36). Mounted on the core (10) is a sleeve (44), the length of which corresponds to the length of the core (10) and which has at least one longitudinal slot (46 to 56), this sleeve being axially displaceable but secure against a rotation relative to the core (10). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a mandrel according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

From DE-PS 29 06 856 a hand-held device for dispensing and attaching labels adhering to a carrier tape is known, in which the carrier tape is wound onto a mandrel after attaching the labels to an object, said mandrel having a core and a sleeve which can be displaced thereon having. Clamping fingers are attached to the outer surface of the sleeve, which can hold the end of the carrier tape so that at the beginning of the winding-up process the tape does not slip, but a tight wrap is created. The winding formed must be removed from the sleeve from time to time, since there is only a limited space in the device. For this purpose, the sleeve can be moved on the core so that it comes out of the side wall of the housing protrudes, whereupon the winding formed can then be removed. However, in this device, the winding sits very tightly on the sleeve, so that it cannot be removed as a whole, but is deformed in a very funnel-like manner, with the outer winding layers and finally the inner layers sliding off the sleeve. The resulting destruction of the winding does not play a role in the known device, since the carrier tape forming the winding is no longer required but is discarded.

However, there are also label printing devices in which self-adhesive labels can be printed with optionally definable information. The self-adhesive labels are located on a carrier tape that is attached to a supply roll. The carrier tape with the self-adhesive labels adhering to it is fed from the supply roll out of a printing table, where the labels are then provided with the desired print. After printing, the carrier tape is then fed to a mandrel which is driven by a motor and onto which the carrier tape with the printed self-adhesive labels is wound. A coil is thus formed on the mandrel, which must be removed from the mandrel after reaching a certain diameter.

The known mandrel described above cannot be used in such a label printing device, since when the roll is removed from this mandrel the problem already described arises that the roll deforms like a funnel because the innermost layer is too tight on the mandrel. However, since the wrap with the printed self-adhesive labels has to be used in a label dispenser, the wrap should remain as stable as possible so that it can be carried out immediately without any manual work Rewinding can be used in the label dispenser.

From DE-A-3 008 882 a mandrel for winding up band-shaped material is known, which is composed of a core and an axially displaceable sleeve located thereon. The sleeve consists of two half-shell-like halves, which are held on the core by two rubber rings placed around these halves. In the winding position, the inner surfaces of the sleeve halves are supported on projections on the outer core surface, in which state there are two diametrically opposite, axially extending spaces between the two sleeve halves. Recesses are made in the sleeve inner surfaces, into which the projections on the core outer surface enter when the sleeve halves are displaced in the axial direction on the core. The sleeve diameter is reduced while closing the spaces between the sleeve halves, so that the coil formed on the sleeve can be removed from the band-shaped material. In this known mandrel, the sleeve consists of two parts, which are held on the core by two further parts, namely rubber rings. The assembly of the mandrel is therefore cumbersome, and there is a risk that the two halves of the sleeve detach completely from the core when the rubber rings tear. In addition, this mandrel also does not provide anything that could securely hold the sleeve in the winding position on the core against displacement in the axial direction.

The invention has for its object to provide a mandrel of the type described for winding tape-like material that allows a very easy stripping of the roll formed on it with a simple structure.

This object is achieved according to the invention with the Merhalen contained in the characterizing part of claim 1.

In the mandrel according to the invention, the winding formed can be very easily removed from the sleeve after the sleeve has been moved into the removal position, since the slot formed in it, which enables the sleeve to radially yield, relaxes the innermost winding layers, so that there is no tight fit the innermost layers on the sleeve is more. The lateral wiping of the roll formed can be carried out without the risk that the innermost winding layers move out of the roll like a funnel.

Advantageous developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims. With the development characterized in claim 3, a relative displacement between the winding and the sleeve is prevented during the displacement of the sleeve on the core.

The development of claim 6 allows threading the end of the band-shaped material to be wound into the mandrel, the means specified in claim 6 securely holding the end until the windings of the winding formed prevent the end from sliding out of the mandrel.

In Fig. 1, the core 10 of the mandrel to be described for winding tape-shaped material is shown in a side view. This core 10 consists of an essentially cylindrical base body which has a flattened portion 12, as can be clearly seen in FIGS. 2 and 3. As can be seen from the sectional views of FIGS. 4 and 5, the core 10 is hollowed out from both sides primarily for reasons of weight saving, so that inner cavities 14 and 16 are created. At the end lying on the right in FIG. 1, the core 10 is provided on its outer peripheral surface with two diametrically opposite lugs 18 and 20, the purpose of which will be explained in more detail. In addition, the core 10 has three longitudinal ribs 22, 24 and 26 on its outer peripheral surface. At the end lying on the right in FIG. 1, a projection 28 is attached to the area lying between the longitudinal ribs 24 and 26, the purpose of which will also be explained.

The solid region 30 of the core 10 lying between the two inner cavities 14 and 16 is provided with a bore 34 running centrally to the core axis 32, the diameter of which is larger from the side of the inner cavity 14 than from the side of the inner cavity 16. 4 shows in broken lines how the core 10 can be attached to a drive shaft 36 which protrudes from the wall 38 of a device, not shown. A screw 40, which is screwed into the front end of the drive shaft 36 from the side of the inner cavity 16, is used to fasten the core 10 on the drive shaft 36. A relative rotation between the drive shaft 36 and the core 10 is prevented by the bore 34 has a flattened area 42 which interacts with a correspondingly flattened area at the end of the drive axle 36.

The sleeve 44 shown in section in FIG. 6 has a plurality of longitudinal slots 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58. At the end lying on the right in FIG. 6, these longitudinal slots are open, so that the regions of the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve lying between the longitudinal slots 44 form fingers, each of which can yield in the radial direction.

At the end on the left in FIG. 6, the sleeve 44 is provided with an annular flange 60 which holds the individual sections of the sleeve 44 lying between the longitudinal slots. The ring flange 60 has at its end shown in FIG. 7 in the end view an opening 62 which surrounds the core 10 including the longitudinal ribs 22, 24 and 26 attached to it in the manner of a template. To accommodate the longitudinal ribs 22, 24 and 26, the opening 62 has corresponding cutouts 64, 66 and 68. The recesses 64, 66 and 68 and the straight-line region corresponding to the flattened portion 12 at the core 70 of the outline of the opening 62 ensure that the core 10 can not be rotated relative to the sleeve 44 when it is inside the sleeve 44. In FIGS. 4 and 5, broken lines indicate how the core 10 can sit inside the sleeve 44.

At the end of the area of the outer circumferential surface, which lies between the longitudinal slots 48 and 50, a locking lug 72 is attached, which cooperates with the projection 28 on the core. Due to the interaction of the locking lug 72 with the projection 28, the sleeve 44 can only be displaced to the right relative to the core 10 after overcoming a predetermined locking force when viewing FIG. 5.

If the sleeve is seated on the core as shown in dashed lines in FIGS. 4 and 5, the sleeve can be displaced to the right in the axial direction while overcoming the locking force exerted by the locking lug 72. The lugs 18 and 20 slide in the longitudinal slots 52 and 54 in the sleeve 44. However, it is not possible to pull the sleeve 44 off the core 10, since the longitudinal slots 52 and 54 at their end located at the ring flange 60 with the aid of stop webs 74 and 76 are closed. This can also be seen from the front view of FIG. 7, in which it can be seen that the opening 62 in the regions in which the longitudinal slots 52 and 54 are located has no cutouts such as the cutouts 64, 66 and 68.

To carry out a winding operation, the sleeve 44 is brought relative to the core 10 into the winding position shown in dashed lines in FIGS. 4 and 5. The free end of the band-shaped material to be wound is then through one of the two slots 56, 58 in the Inside of the sleeve 44 inserted. The drive shaft 36 is then set in rotation by a motor (not shown), with the result that the sleeve 44 connected to the drive shaft 36, which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner, also rotates. Due to the insertion of the free end of the band-shaped material into one of the slots 56 or 58, this free end is taken along when rotating, so that the winding process begins. During this winding process, the band-shaped material lies relatively tightly around the outer circumferential surface of the sleeve 44, and a winding with increasing diameter is created. As soon as the desired size of the winding on the sleeve 44 has been reached, the rotation is stopped and the winding formed together with the sleeve is shifted to the right on the core 10 in the illustration of FIGS. 4 and 5 until the lugs 18 and 20 in Come to rest on the stop webs 74, 76 on the sleeve 44. Since the sleeve 44 is no longer supported in its interior by the core 10 in this removal position, the regions of the sleeve 44 lying between the longitudinal slots 46 to 56 can yield radially inwards, so that the winding formed on the sleeve can be easily and almost without resistance Axial direction can be removed from the sleeve. The winding body is not deformed, so that it can be used for further application without further measures such as straightening.

In preparation for a new winding operation, the sleeve 44 is pushed back into the winding position on the core 10 until the locking lug 72 has slid over the projection 28 on the core 10, so that the sleeve 44 is held securely in the winding position for the next winding operation.
