Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an electrical connector, consisting of a housing made of metal and an insulating body detachably fastened therein, in which in turn one or more electrically conductive plug contact parts, plug pins or plug sleeves are detachably arranged by means of spring tongue locking.
Plugs of this type are mostly designed as multiple plugs and are mainly used in conjunction with devices exposed to harsh operating conditions. Corresponding to their diverse application possibilities, such plugs are therefore also used in the most varied of forms of housing design.
The fixing of the insulating body in the connector housing takes place in known embodiments of such plugs, for example US Pat. No. 3,221,292, in such a way that the housing and insulating body are alternately provided with entire or partial annular grooves and ring ribs which engage with one another when the insulating body is inserted into the housing and thereby Insulate inside the housing at least in the axial direction. In another known type of plug of this type, the insulating body has only one circumferential groove, via which it can be fixed in the actual plug housing both in the axial and in the circumferential direction by means of a union nut which can be screwed onto it, US Pat. No. 2,984,811 as well as the other type of connector known that either the manufacture and assembly of the parts of the connector are cumbersome and expensive, or a multi-part connector housing is required, which also has the disadvantage that the two parts of the connector housing can unintentionally and possibly detach from one another when the device is in use, unless complex securing means are also provided. Thus, in the case of the connector known from US Pat. No. 2,984,811, in addition to the coupling nut provided for fixing the insulating body within the connector housing, a locking ring which can be locked on the connector housing is provided, which, with the insulating body fitted and the coupling nut screwed onto the connector housing, being arranged on the outer circumference of the coupling nut , axially directed locking ribs engaged and must be fixed in this engagement position by means of a bayonet lock on the connector housing.
Based on this state of the art, the object of the invention is to further develop an electrical connector of the type outlined at the outset in such a way that, with a completely secure fixing of the insulating body, insulating bodies and connector housings can be formed more easily both in the axial and in the circumferential direction within the connector housing, and in that furthermore, the assembly or assembly of the plug as a whole can advantageously be limited to a single, advantageously by means of a simple hand tool or also manually executable work process.
This object is achieved according to the invention essentially in that the insulating body can be fixed in the connector housing by means of a bayonet lock formed by a radially directed projection arranged on its outer periphery and an angular recess in the housing wall of the connector housing.
The fixing of the insulating body in the connector housing by means of an immediate mutual bayonet locking enables a substantial reduction in the number of individual parts required and, at the same time, brings one hand in hand Significant simplification of the assembly itself, since the insulating body can now be inserted into the plug housing in one operation and locked in this. It can further be provided that the radially directed projection on the outer circumference of the insulating body associated angular recess is penetrated by the housing wall of this and the insulating body can be locked from the outside in the plug housing by means of a simple, in particular pliers-shaped hand tool, so that at the same time any danger Damage to the insulating body itself or the contact parts or the lines is excluded.
In this connection, it can be particularly advantageous that the height of the radial projection on the outer circumference of the insulating body is less than the wall thickness of the plug housing, so that a slight expansion of the inside diameter of the plug housing from its free end to the beginning of the angular wall recess is sufficient. in order to insert the insulating body in a simple manner and to be able to lock it by means of a rotary movement. This results in a very simple, undercuts or axially directed grooves or the like. Avoiding design of the connector housing. To facilitate the attachment of the hand tool to the radial projection, the tool is in turn provided with an axially directed recess.
In an expedient individual configuration, it is further provided that the angular recess in the housing wall of the connector housing comprises an axially directed insertion section and a locking section running in the circumferential direction, and that in the locking section a reduction of the recess width forming an overcoming reversing lock, in particular designed as a nose or the like, is arranged . In connection with a design of the radial projection of the insulating body as a cylindrical pin, the simplest form of a secure fixing of the Insulating body shown in the connector housing.
Hierfür kann vorgesehen sein, daß ein als Zylinderzapfen ausgebildeter radialer Vorsprung eine Abplattung aufweist oder daß ein im wesentlichen als zylindrische Zapfen ausgebildeter radialer Vorsprung des Isolierkörpers zwischen zwei unterschiedliche Durchmesser aufweisenden Teilbereichen seines Außenumfanges einen stufenförmigen Übergangsabschnitt aufweistA further improvement of the anti-rotation lock of the locking of the insulating body within the plug housing is achieved in that the radial projection on the insulating body, which is designed as a pin, has a plan shape that deviates from the pure circular shape.
For this purpose it can be provided that a radial projection designed as a cylindrical pin has a flattening or that a radial projection of the insulating body, essentially designed as a cylindrical pin, has a step-shaped transition section between two parts of its outer circumference with different diameters
In a further individual embodiment it can further be provided that the insertion section of the recess directed axially to the plug housing in the housing wall has a plan shape widening towards its free end in a dovetail shape and that the reduction in the recess width of the locking section of the recess directed in the circumferential direction in the housing wall of the plug housing is arranged on the inner angular range.
Finally, the use of one or two 0-ring seals can also be provided for the watertight sealing of the insulating body with respect to the plug housing.
To further secure the locking between the connector housing and the insulating body, it can also be provided that the bayonet locking of the insulating body in the connector housing is assigned a securing spring which can be mounted on the insulating body. A preferred embodiment of the securing spring is characterized in that the securing spring is held by the O-ring by an essentially T-shaped design and, with its transverse extension, engaging under the 0-ring in the groove of the insulating body and forming a tongue Longitudinal extension in the introductory section Section of the angular recess engages in the connector housing and wherein the longitudinal extension of the leaf spring forming the tongue lies in a guide recess of the insulating body and engaging in the peripheral wall of the connector housing is radially curved or bent outwards to the insulating body.

The plug shown in the drawing comprises a
