Die Ofenwagen sind an ihren Längs­seiten mit Sandschürzen ausgerüstet, die in mit Sand gefüllte Rinnen im Ofenfundament eintauchen, um eine Dichtung zum Unterwagenkanal zu schaffen. Dabei ist ein größerer Abstand zwischen den Ofenwagenzügen erfoderlich, um eine Sandzufüh­rung zur dort befindlichen Sandrinne zu ermöglichen. Wie sich herausgestellt hat, ist dies in bezug auf die Strömungsverhält­nisse im Brennkanal ungünstig. Zudem vermehrt die Vielzhal von Sandrinnen bei mehrsträngigem Betrieb die ohnehin schon vorhandenen Undichtigkeiten zwischen Brennkanal und Unter­wagenkanal und führt zu Problemen in der Aufheizzone des Ofens. Claims (1)

Tunnelofen mit einem durch die eng an den Tunnel­seitenwänden laufende Ofenwagen oberhalb der Ofen­wagen gebildeten Brennkanal und mit einem unterhalb der Ofenwagen angeordneten Unterwagenkanal sowie mit an den Ofenwagen angeordneten Schürzen, die nur an der Stirnseite mindestens eines der benachbarten Ofen­wagen gegen die Ofenwände schleifend und mit allenfalls geringem Abstand zum Fundament des Ofens herabrei­chend angebracht sind und Abschnitte des Unterwagen­kanals in Ofenwagenlänge bilden,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß bei Anordnung von zwei oder mehr Zügen von Ofen­wagen (2) längs des Tunnelofens (1) zwischen zwei Wagenzügen (2) ein etwa der Höhe des Unterwagenkanals (8) entsprechender, vom Boden des Fundaments (7) hochragender Sockel (6) angeordnet ist, gegen den die Schürzen (4) schleifen.
