Description

Verschluss mit Garantiering für Behälter Closure with a guarantee ring for containers
The invention relates to a closure for containers, with a guarantee ring on its underside, which carries barbs projecting inwards on its inner wall, extending upwards, wedging on the container when the closure is lifted and thereby causing the guarantee ring to be separated from the closure body.
These barbs are located below the container mouth when the closure is attached, which usually has a larger diameter than the adjacent container neck. Its free end, ie its tip, is at a distance from the longitudinal central axis of the container and thus also of the closure, which is smaller than the radius of the container mouth mentioned. When the closure is lifted off, these barbs lie against the underside of the container mouth, as a result of which the guarantee ring, which is connected to the actual closure body via thin webs, is separated from the latter. The first opening of the closure is therefore indicated.
No. 4,488,655. The barbs are designed as individual projections distributed over the circumference of the guarantee ring; but it is also a ring-shaped one
Both the top of the barbs and the bottom have a certain inclination to the inner wall of the guarantee ring, from which they protrude. The angle is relative large, usually between 50 - 60. However, the top can also have an even larger angle, up to 90-.
In addition to barbs of this shape, those have also been proposed which do not protrude obliquely upward from the inner wall, but horizontally, that is to say to a certain extent have a smaller radius of curvature than that of the inner wall. Their resistance to the closure being lifted is, however, less than that of the barbs which extend obliquely upwards, which is why they have not become established. Above all, however, they encounter problems when placing the closures on the containers. This is because the barbs have to slide over the container mouth with a larger diameter, whereby they lie closely against the inner wall of the guarantee ring. Only afterwards, when the thinner neck of the container has been reached, can they again assume their position protruding from the inner wall. It is obvious that wedges directed obliquely upwards are better than the other embodiments mentioned above.
But even with the oblique barbs mentioned, difficulties arise when putting them on in practice. The filling machines, especially in the beverage industry, are designed for such extremely high hourly outputs that only a very short time is left to put on the individual closure. In this period, uss the closure on the CONT 'slide ltermündung, and because of its slightly smaller diameter, the anti-tamper ring that is incident on the first Behälter¬ muzzle when placed must elastically expand. The thin webs that connect the guarantee ring to the locking body must therefore, as it were, push the former in front of them without being damaged.
It has now been shown that the previous barbs block the attachment. They were obviously inclined too much to the direction of the touchdown movement and therefore acted as above, rigid obstacles. In the short time mentioned, elastic expansion was not possible, or at best only poorly. The guarantee rings therefore jammed at the container mouths, which led to the compression of the connecting webs. This meant that the closure bodies could no longer be put on because the guarantee rings were still in place and had not slid over the mouth of the container. There were faults in the bottling plant. Other causes disturbance ¬ could be detected, like a bursting of Garan¬ animal total.
The present invention seeks to avoid these difficulties which are extremely disruptive to the bottling plant. The closure according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 1.
The new design of the barbs according to the invention thus achieves both an improvement in the properties of the closure with regard to the mechanical placement thereof and an increase in the barb effect when unscrewing. It should also be noted that the new shape of the closure does not involve any complications and thus increases the cost of the production process by means of injection molding; a combination of properties that was not immediately apparent to the person skilled in the art.
Die Erfindung wird anhand der beiliegenden Zeichnungen beispiels¬ weise näher erläutert; es zeigenThe invention is explained in more detail, for example, with reference to the accompanying drawings; show it

Fig. 3 is a schematic areal exterior view of a preferred form of the closure. 1 with the closure body, 2 with the guarantee ring connected to it via webs 3. On its inner wall 4, several, mostly three barbs evenly distributed over it extend over part of the circumference, of which only one barb 5 is shown in the figures. This has a bottom 6 inclined upwards from the inner wall 4 and a horizontal top 7. As can be seen from the hatching in FIG. 1, the closure body 1, the guarantee ring 2, the webs 3 and the barb 5 form a piece which is produced in one injection step.
As can now be seen in particular from FIG. 2, an inlet or sliding wedge 8 is arranged in the middle of the barb 5. This extends obliquely upwards from the lower edge 9 of the guarantee ring 2 and runs tangentially into the rounding or tip 10 of the barb 5. The angle 0, at which its sliding surface 11 is inclined to the vertical inner wall 4 of the guarantee ring 2, is preferably 31 °; this value resulted from tests and represents an optimum. This optimum even determines the distance a of the tip 10 of the barb 5 from the inner wall 4; How far this barb may protrude from the inner wall 4 depends on the one hand on the angle mentioned and then also on the height of the barb 5 above the lower edge 9 of the guarantee ring 2. However, of course the tip 10 must protrude so far inwards, that hook 5 still fulfills its function. It must therefore be located within the profile of the container mouth or, in other words, closer to the longitudinal central axis A shown in FIG. 1 than the wall of the container mouth, because it must lie on its underside when the closure is lifted off.
Conveniently, there is only one slide 8 per barb 5, which is consequently arranged symmetrically, ie in the middle of the latter, as can be seen in FIG. A sliding wedge is usually sufficient, and secondly, attention must always be paid to it are that as little material as possible is used to produce the closure, which is of crucial importance in the case of the enormous number of pieces, even if the individual piece is only a very small quantity. Thirdly, the sliding wedge 8 must not lead to a substantial stiffening of the guarantee ring 2, since otherwise the risk of the disturbances already mentioned occurs again; despite the sliding wedges, the guarantee ring must also be able to expand elastically when it is put on. For this reason, it makes little sense to incline the underside 6 by the angle mentioned instead of the sliding wedge 8, that is to say to design the barb 5 itself as a sliding wedge over its entire width. As mentioned, this would take up too much material and reduce the elasticity. It has proven expedient to set the width b of the sliding wedge 8 to a quarter of the length L of the barb 5. An exception to this can be admitted if numerous but very narrow barbs 5 are provided. Then the width b of the sliding wedge 8 can correspond exceptionally to the then small length L of the barb.
Wichtig ist auch, dass der Gleitkeil genau am unteren Rand 9 desIt is also important that the slide wedge is exactly at the bottom 9 of the
Guarantee ring 2 begins and no further out of the inner wall 4. Then, below these sliding wedges, the guarantee 2 would again have a purely cylindrical shape over its entire circumference, which would again lead to the disturbances already mentioned. The sliding wedges must therefore extend to the edge 9 so that they take effect immediately when the closure is put on.
FIG. 3 shows an areal representation of a preferred embodiment of the plastic closure according to the invention with a guarantee ring. In it, 21 denotes a cross-connection for the guarantee ring 2, which is interrupted at this point, which ring is also attached to the interruption mentioned by means of the stronger web 22 on the closure 1. The interruption mentioned thus clearly acts as a "crack" or predetermined breaking point. In this embodiment of the guarantee ring 2, which is already known per se this not only separates it from the closure body 1, but also slits it up itself, so that it then hangs down in an inclined position and clearly indicates the first opening. In order to ensure that the cross-connection 21 is torn off at one end or the other of the guarantee ring, it is advisable not to make it too stiff at the location mentioned, which means that the barbs are arranged at a distance from it as shown. This also facilitates the production of the injection mold required for the closure manufacture; this is very complex for the closure shown, but on the other hand it enables a large number of closures per unit of time. The above-described combination of, on the one hand, guarantee ring with barb and sliding wedge with, on the other hand, the above-mentioned interruption in the ring brings about a considerable increase in the application-related safety of the closure according to the invention.
