Abstract

An L-shaped extruded edge-protector section for the strapping of articles, stacks or the like, has along the inner or outer surfaces of the respective flanges, respective adhesive strips while the opposite surfaces having longitudinal recesses so that when the edge-protectors are stacked, the adhesive strips are received with clearance in the recesses of adjacent edge-protectors. The edge-protectors when stacked thus do not adhere to one another even though masking strips are not provided for the adhesive strips.

Description

The invention relates to an edge protection profile section for use in connection with strapping measures of stacks of goods, packages, and. Like. - With a substantially L-shaped profile cross section and longitudinal adhesive strips provided on the inner surfaces.

Known edge protection profile sections of the type mentioned (EP-A1-0 089 533) regularly consist of a cardboard layer laminate bent about its central longitudinal axis. This is not entirely satisfactory in that the Edge protection profile section is, as it were, rounded on its central inner longitudinal edge, so that when a strapping is put on the outside, hard-edged hard packages, such as furniture, can still be damaged despite the edge protection function. This can be avoided by a groove-shaped longitudinal recess on the central inner longitudinal edge (DE-A1-28 05 698). It is also unsatisfactory that the strapping, seen in cross-section of the profile section, rests against the entire outer surface of the edge protection profile section, as a result of which a correct tensioning of the strapping is often not achieved in the course of the strapping. The self-adhesive longitudinal strips on the inner surfaces serve to temporarily fix the edge protection profile section in the course of the strapping measures. Since the edge protection profile sections are regularly delivered in stacks, there is of course the risk of the cardboard layer laminate sticking to one another in the stacking unit and the problem-free removal of the individual edge protection profile sections is made difficult, which is why the individual edge protection profile sections in the stack are covered with silicone paper at least on the contact side. It is expensive. In addition, this unintended bonding consumes the adhesive property on the surface of the adhesive during stacking.

Besonderheiten bestehen. The invention has for its object to design the edge protection profile section of the type mentioned that in the course the strapping measures with the strapping have no problems or special features in terms of manipulation.

The solution to this problem according to the invention is that the edge protection profile section is extruded from an at least partially made of thermoplastic material and is provided between longitudinal edges with a continuous longitudinal indentation in which the associated self-adhesive longitudinal strip of an upstream profile section lies without touching the indentation surface. In the edge protection profile section according to the invention, the longitudinal indentations can be arranged on the outside of the profile flanges and the self-adhesive longitudinal strips on the inside thereof. However, the arrangement can also be such that the longitudinal indentations are arranged on the inside of the profile flanges and the self-adhesive longitudinal strips are arranged on the outside thereof.

The invention is based on the consideration that the use of silicone paper sheathing or intermediate layers in the stack can be omitted if the profile is produced with corresponding outer longitudinal indentations. This is not possible when the edge protection profile section is made from cardboard layer laminate. Rather, the edge protection profile section must be produced by extrusion for this purpose, the self-adhesive longitudinal strips are preferably produced by coextrusion. This can easily be done from thermoplastic material alone, for example a waste product in the form of polyethylene, but there is also the possibility of using one Paper / plastic waste mix to work. The outer longitudinal indentations also have the advantage that the contact surface for the strapping is reduced considerably, so that slackness in the strapping applied can no longer occur. - According to a preferred embodiment, the edge protection profile section according to the invention is provided on its central inner longitudinal edge with a channel-shaped longitudinal recess. This enables deformation of the profile flanges and ensures that they assume exactly the predetermined position in the stack in which the self-adhesive longitudinal strips are located above the indentations. It is also ensured that sharp, sensitive edges, in the area of which the edge protection profile section is placed, cannot be damaged, since they come to lie within the longitudinal recesses. This also requires the edge protection profile section to be produced by extrusion.

In the following the invention will be explained with reference to a drawing illustrating an embodiment; show it
  • Fig. 1 shows a stack of edge protection profile sections for use in connection with strapping measures of stacks of goods, packages and. Like. And
  • 2 shows an edge protection profile section attached to a stack of goods, package or the like with a strapping applied.

As is readily apparent from the figures, the edge protection profile section 1 is in connection with strapping measures of stacks of goods, packages and. Like. Used. It has a substantially L-shaped profile cross section and is provided on the inner surfaces with self-adhesive longitudinal strips 2, with the aid of which the edge protection profile section 1 adheres to a package, such as a piece of furniture, due to its stickiness.

Fig. 1). The edge protection profile is extruded from a mass which at least partially consists of thermoplastic, in particular polyethylene. Waste made of paper and thermoplastic in the form of plastic-coated paper is particularly suitable. A continuous longitudinal indentation 3 is provided between each of the outer longitudinal edges, in which the associated coextruded self-adhesive longitudinal strip 2 of a profile section 1 located in the stack lies without touching the indentation surface (cf. FIG. 1). 2 that the edge protection profile section 1 is provided on its central inner longitudinal edge with a trough-shaped longitudinal recess 4, which excludes damage to sensitive edges of packages with certainty.
