In a known, flexible cartridge supply device of this type (see Flab MK 20 Rh 202 from Rheinmetall, "Waffentechnisches Taschenbuch" from Rheinmetall, 3rd edition 1977, pages 272, 273 and 286, figure 825 and figure 826), the cartridges are made from ammunition containers fed to an automatic firearm with two weapon tubes, the ammunition container rotating with the firearm about an azimuth axis and each ammunition container having a flexible ammunition transport means, which is twistable for transporting the cartridges to the firearm.

This known device is essentially suitable for supplying a type of ammunition.

The object to be achieved with the present invention is to create a device with which two types of ammunition can be supplied in the simplest possible way.

This object is achieved with a device which, in addition to the features in the preamble of the patent claim, also has the features in the characterizing part of this patent claim.

In a known device (see CH-PS 379 969 corresponds to DE-AS 1 112 427), cartridge sets combined in loading strips are stacked one above the other in an ammunition magazine for automatic firearms, the bottom set of cartridges being supported on a movable wing. In this ammunition magazine a conveyor device is provided which pushes the individual loading strips perpendicular to the individual layers against the wing when firing. This wing is formed from the screw surfaces of two guiding surfaces, which is in drive connection with the conveyor device above.

In another known device (see DE-AS 1 026 201) there is a rotatable drum magazine with a conveyor device which combs the cartridges out of the drum magazine and is arranged on a fixed base plate. This conveying device is designed as an endless, revolving chain provided with drivers, which is in drive connection with the rotatable drum magazine and assumes an inclined position which results from the rotary movement of the magazine on the one hand and the movement of the cartridges in the chamber in the emptying state on the other hand resulting direction of movement matches.

In another known device (see US Pat. No. 3,437,005), a flexible conveyor belt for transporting ammunition is arranged between a rapid-fire weapon (in particular a Gatling gun) and a stationary ammunition container. This conveyor belt is both bendable and rotatable to withstand the relative movement between the weapon and the container. This conveyor belt contains an outer guide and an inner screw-shaped transport element for transporting the cartridges from the container to the weapon.

The device according to the invention differs from these known devices by the following features:
  • a) The ammunition container moves with the weapon around the azimuth axis, but it does not move when the weapon is elevated.
  • b) The cartridge axes are vertical, the cartridge tips can either be directed upwards or downwards.

Preferably, all elements are present twice for feeding two types of ammunition. The cartridges are preferably arranged vertically in the ammunition container, the tips of the cartridges either pointing upwards or downwards.

Fig .4
einen Grundriss durch den in Fig .1 dargestellten Panzerturm;

An embodiment of the device according to the invention for feeding ammunition from an ammunition container to an automatic firearm is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1
2 shows a perspective view through an armored turret according to a first exemplary embodiment,
Fig. 2
a cross section,
Fig. 3
a longitudinal section and
Fig. 4
a floor plan through the tank tower shown in Fig. 1;

According to FIG. 1, an automatic firearm 31 with two weapon tubes 32 is located on the front of a tank turret 30 in the middle. Behind the weapon 31 is a gunner 33 in a dome 34 and behind this dome 34 a radar device 35 is constructed. Two ammunition containers 38 and 39 (see FIG. 4) are installed on both sides of the dome 34 below armored plates 36 and 37.

Es sind jeweils zehn Patronen 19 in einem Ladestreifen 25 angeordnet.2 cartridges 19 are in both ammunition containers 38, 39 on both sides of the Gun 31 arranged vertically and with the cartridge tips pointing upwards. Of course, the cartridges 19 could be inserted with the tips down into the ammunition container 38, 39. Ten cartridges 19 are each arranged in a loading strip 25.

Damit die Zufuhr der Patronen 19 aus den vier Munitionsbehältern 38,39 in jeder Stellung der beiden Waffen 31 gewährleistet ist, müssen vier flexible Munitionskanäle 43-46 von den Munitionsbehältern 38,39 zu den Waffen 31 führen.3, the two firearms 31 can be pivoted about an elevation axis 20 by approximately 90 °, the uppermost position of the two weapons 31 being indicated by a dash-dotted line and the lowest position being shown with solid lines. The four ammunition containers 38, 39 are not installed in the tank tower 30 so as to be pivotable about the elevation axis 20. The armored turret 30 is mounted on a vehicle 40 so as to be pivotable about a vertical azimuth axis 21 (FIG. 2). For the elevation, the weapon 30 according to FIGS. 2 and 3 is stored in roller bearings 41. For the rotation in the azimuth, the armored turret 30 is pivotably mounted in a roller bearing 42 (FIGS. 2 and 3). When the armored turret 30 rotates about the azimuth axis 21, the four ammunition containers 38, 39 with the weapon 31 thus also move about the azimuth axis 21. However, when the weapon 31 is pivoted about the elevation axis 20, these ammunition containers cannot take part in the pivoting. So that the supply of the cartridges 19 from the four ammunition containers 38, 39 is ensured in each position of the two weapons 31, four flexible ammunition channels 43-46 must lead from the ammunition containers 38, 39 to the weapons 31.

44 transportieren. In diesem flexiblen Munitionskanal 43 bzw. According to FIG. 4, the individual loading strips 25, each with ten cartridges 19, are pushed in the direction of arrows A and B by a conveyor device 26 (FIG. 2) known per se against a removal device 27 (FIG. 4). This removal device 27 essentially has an endless conveyor belt which is inclined relative to the loading strip 25 and to which two drivers are fastened, which push the cartridges 19 out of the loading strip in a manner known per se and transport them to the flexible ammunition channel 43 or 44. In this flexible ammunition channel 43 or 44 there is another endless, also flexible conveyor belt which transports the cartridges 19 in the ammunition channel 43 or 44 to the firearm 31.

So that two different types of ammunition can be fed to each of the two firearms 31, there is a different type of ammunition in the front ammunition container 38 than in the rear ammunition container 39.
