Description

The invention relates to a ventilation device with an integrated oil separator according to the preamble of claim 1.

Diese Ausführung beansprucht nicht nur relativ viel Raum im Bereich des Zylinderkopfs, wo üblicherweise eine Nockenwelle verläuft, sondern beeinträchtigt auch die freie Gestaltung des Deckels.DE-OS 3 509 439 shows a ventilation system for internal combustion engine crankcases, which is provided above a cylinder head and forms a unit with a cover. This design not only takes up a relatively large amount of space in the area of the cylinder head, where a camshaft usually runs, but also impairs the free design of the cover.

From US Pat. No. 3,469,565 a ventilation device with an oil separator is known, which is complex in terms of manufacture and assembly due to a large number of different components.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a ventilation device with an integrated oil separator for an internal combustion engine which, with good function, is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and can be easily inserted into the crankcase without influencing other components.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of patent claim 1. Further features embodying the invention are contained in the subclaims.

The main advantages achieved with the invention are the fact that the ventilation device with integrated oil separator (gravity oil separator) is formed by only two pot-like components, namely an upper part and a lower part, which are easy to manufacture and assemble. As a unit, they can be easily inserted into the crankcase in a wall that extends between V-shaped rows of cylinders of the internal combustion engine.

The weight and the manufacturing costs of the ventilation device can be influenced favorably if the upper part and the lower part are made of plastic and are connected to one another by means of a permanent plug connection. If the baffles are formed by ribs provided on the upper and lower part, a functional guidance of the ventilation medium is ensured with a good oil separation effect.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown, which is described in more detail below. It shows
  • 1 is a top view of a ventilation device according to the invention,
  • 2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1, this section also being a partial cross section of the internal combustion engine,
  • 3 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1,
  • Fig. 4 is a partial view of FIG. 3 with another embodiment.

The ventilation device 1 is fastened to a crankcase 2 - FIG. 2 - of an internal combustion engine (not shown in more detail) and has the task of creating an oil-enriched ventilation medium in a space 3 of the crankcase 2 during operation of the internal combustion engine - it contains blow-by gases - between Dispose of cylinders and pistons in room 3. The oil that is added to the ventilation medium is to be separated, which is done with the oil separator 4, which is integrated in the ventilation device 1.

Between two V-shaped rows of cylinders 5, 6, which form a unit with the crankcase 2, this crankcase has an elevation 7 which is delimited by a horizontal wall 8. The wall 8 receives the ventilation device 1 with the oil separator 4 provided with a plurality of baffles 9.

The ventilation device 1 and the oil separator 4 are part of a housing 10 which is formed by an upper part 11 and a lower part 12. The upper part 11 has an approximately horizontally extending cover 13 and upright boundary walls 14, 15; the lower part 12 has a bottom 18 extending transversely to the upright boundary walls 16, 17, the boundary walls 16, 17 resting in an opening 10ʹ of the wall 10. The open sides of the upper part 11 and the lower part 12 face each other and the upright boundary walls 14, 15 and 16, 17 overlap. In other words, the boundary walls 16, 17 run in sections within the boundary walls 14, 15. The lower part 12 is dimensioned so that there are passage gaps 19, 20 between the boundary walls 14, 15 and 16, 17, respectively, which lead into the interior 21 of the housing 10 lead.

The boundary walls 14, 15 of the upper part 11 are supported by flanges 22, 23 on the wall 8 of the crankcase 2 and are fastened at 24, 25, 26 and 27 by means of screws 28. The respective screw 28 penetrates the flange 22 or 23 and is screwed into a thread 29 of the crankcase 2.

The upper part 11 and the lower part 12 can each be made of a light metal alloy. For their connection screws 30 are used, which are carried out by mutually supporting fastening eyes 31, 32, arranged within the upper part 11 and the lower part 12; Fig. 4.

The lower part 12 has at least one upright receiving part 33, which is led away from the base 18 and has a through-channel 34. A support 36, which is attached to the cover 13 of the upper part 11, is brought up to the receiving part 33 with a shoulder 35. The support 36 has an extension 37, which extends within the through channel 34 and is supported on its free side 38 with a thickening 39 in a local extension 40 of the through channel 34. The thickening 39 is produced by heat treatment of the pin 37. In order to provide functional support for the upper part 11 and the lower part 12, connections of the same principle are also provided at 41 and 42. In addition, the flanges 22, 23 of the plastic upper part 11 in the area of the screws 28 are metallic Support bushings 43 provided. In addition, a sealing body 45 can be provided between a support flange 44 of the upper part 11 and the wall 8 of the crankcase 2.

The baffles 9 of the oil separator 4 are provided on the upper part 11 and lower part 12 and are formed by webs 46, 47 which overlap in sections. 1, the webs 46, 47 form a kind of labyrinth through which the gases of the ventilation medium escape and the oil contained therein is separated.

The lower part 12 has an inlet 48 which is provided adjacent to the boundary wall 16. The inlet 48 is provided with a deflecting element 49 which prevents the entry of oil particles into the housing 10 of oil particles accelerated in the direction of rotation A of the crankshaft, not shown. At 50 there is an outlet of the ventilation medium freed from oil, the outlet 50 being attached to the upper part 11 on the side opposite the inlet 48. The outlet 50 comprises a pipe socket 51 which is connected to the intake pipe system of the internal combustion engine, not shown.

The bottom 18 of the lower part 12 is provided on opposite sides - seen in the longitudinal direction B-B of the internal combustion engine - with outlet openings 52, 53, which likewise comprise deflecting elements 54 which have the function of the deflecting element 49. So that the medium flows to the oil outlet openings 52, 53, the base 18 has a gradient G angle at least in the transverse direction (FIG. 2) with respect to a horizontal H.
