Abstract

Process for manufacturing a continuous smooth polyester yarn of low shrinkage, based on a rapidly spun partial oriented yarn (POY). The polyester POY (5a) is cold-drawn (5b) and then, together with a 10 to 20 % lead, is subjected to hot relaxation (5c) at a temperature of between 140 and 250°C in a dry medium or between 70 and 140°C in a wet medium, after which it is subjected to swirling as necessary. A yarn is obtained having an initial modulus of between 200 and 800 cN/tex and a scouring shrinkage of less than 3 %. The yarn is suitable for use as a substitute for cellulose acetate.

Description

The present invention relates to a method for producing a smooth, cold-drawn, multifilament filament thread made of polyester POY and a thread produced by this method.

A smooth multifilament filament thread is to be understood as a non-textured filament thread, which retains its uncurled flat shape even after boiling in water.

Polyester is to be understood as a thermoplastic which was produced from at least 85% by weight of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol.

The polyester POY (Partially Oriented Yarn) stands for a polyester thread with a titer of about 50 to 1200 dtex, which was melt spun at a speed of about 2800 to 4000 m / min.

With cold stretching we mean stretching at thread temperatures that are significantly below the glass transition temperature of the polyester, i.e. significantly below 85 ° C. For example, the delivery roll can be unheated for stretching or have a temperature of up to 70 ° C. The drawing can be carried out with or without the use of a drawing pin.

Homogeneous cold drawing should be understood to mean that the draw ratio must be chosen so high that there are no undrawn or less than the set draw ratio in the drawn thread, which e.g. can be recognized by the Uster%, which should generally be <1.5. For POY from the specified speed range, this means that the draw ratio must be at least 1.6, depending on the spinning speed.

Figure imgb0001

  • VL = Geschwindigkeit des Lieferwerks
  • VA = Geschwindigkeit des Abzugwerks
By hot relaxation we mean a decrease in the length of the thread caused by temperature treatment at temperatures above the glass transition temperature. The amount of the decrease in length is determined by the so-called lead VE:

  • V L = speed of the delivery plant
  • V A = speed of the fume cupboard

The production of cold-stretched polyester thread from POY spun at more than 4000 m / min is known (JP-A-53-14 37 28).

Darin wird ein Abkochschrumpf kleiner als 2% als extrem niedrig und schwer direkt erzielbar bezeichnet.DE-A-28 39 672 discloses a polyester exchange thread for cellulose acetate of the type with a boil-off shrinkage of 2 to 6% by direct rapid spinning at about 4000 m / min, without using a drafting system and without heat treatment. A boil-off shrinkage of less than 2% is described as extremely low and difficult to achieve directly.

The known thread has the disadvantage that it still has too high a shrinkage. In addition, such a thread must be shrunk before the bobbin dyeing and rewound onto perforated dye tubes.

The object of the invention is to provide a method with which a thread can be produced which has an extremely low shrinkage and comes close to a cellulose acetate or viscose thread in its other properties.

The object is achieved according to the invention by the feature of claim 1 and is characterized in that the polyester POY is homogeneously cold-drawn in a first process step with a draw ratio of at least 1.6 and in a second process step is hot-relaxed with an advance of 10 to 20% .

In the range from 10 to 20% lead, preferably 12 to 18% lead with simultaneous heat treatment, a practically shrink-free thread is surprisingly obtained, which provides a plump, soft, silky glossy sheet material with good non-matting polymer with good falling properties.

The resulting thread is excellently suitable as a replacement material for cellulose acetate in smooth fabrics and shows a good suitability for roughening.

If the lead is less than 10%, the thread will shrink too much; with a lead of more than about 20%, a crimp occurs, which is undesirable for the area of application of a smooth thread.

It is expedient to carry out the dry heat treatment at 140 to 250 ° C., preferably at 200 to 230 ° C., in particular at 225 ° C. with a heating length of at least 200 mm.

However, it is also possible to carry out the heat treatment in a liquid, advantageously in water / water vapor, at 70 to 140 ° C.

It is advisable to prefer relaxation at a withdrawal rate of 100 to 1000 mlmin to run at 300 to 700 m / min.

Darüber hinaus werden die Kennzahlen Anfangsmodul,The thread produced by the method according to the invention is characterized by its strength-elongation diagram. The reproduction of the complete strength-elongation diagram has good information about the mechanical behavior of the examined thread. In addition, the key figures of the initial module,

The reversibility limit, tensile strength and elongation at break are determined from these in a known manner, for example the initial module from the linear slope at the beginning of the diagram, the reversibility limit corresponding to the strength from which the diagram deviates from the linear course.

Darunter versteht man die bei definierten Temperautren und Vorspannkräften in Wasser oder Heissluft resultierenden Schrumpfungen (= Längenänderungen) oder Schrumpfkräfte (siehe Erläuterungen zu der Tabelle).Usually, such threads are also described by a series of thermomechanical key figures which refer to the later processing conditions or usage properties. This means the shrinkage (= changes in length) or shrinkage forces resulting from defined tempera tures and prestressing forces in water or hot air (see explanations to the table).

In detail, the thread according to the invention must simultaneously meet the following conditions: it must have an initial modulus of 200 to 800 cN / tex, in particular 350 to 500 cN / tex; a reversibility limit of 4 to 12 cN / tex, in particular 6 to 12 cN / tex; a boil-off shrinkage of 0 to 2.8%, in particular 0 to 2%; an intrinsic viscosity of 0.60 to 0.75 di / g, in particular 0.62 to 0.66 dl / g, measured at 25 ° C in a mixture of phenol tetrachloroethane 1: 1; thermal shrinkage at 160 ° C and 0.1 cN / tex pretensioning force of <2%; have a shrinkage force of 0.1 cN / tex measured under the same temperature and preload conditions.

The largely shrunk thread has the advantage that it can be twisted directly onto a perforated dye tube in the event of bobbin dyeing without steaming and rewinding.

The invention will be explained in more detail by means of examples.

A polyester POY according to the preamble of claim 1 with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.62 di / g serves as the starting material for both examples.

Beispiel 1 (kontinuierliches Verfahren)Example 1 (continuous process)

A polyester POY dtex 100 f 36, produced at a spinning speed of 3100 m / min, is cold drawn in a ratio of 1: 1.8 on a two-stage draw twister in the 1st stage at room temperature without a drawing pin and then in the 2nd stage with 10 % Lead over a plate heater of 48 cm in length and a heater temperature of 225 ° C. The processing thread tension in the 2nd stage results from the process-related relaxation tension. Immediately afterwards, the swirling takes place at approx. 25 knots / meter and the winding at 420 m / min.

Beispiel 2 (diskontinuiediches Verfahren)Example 2 (discontinuous process)

A polyester POY dtex 100 f 36 spun at 3100 m / min is drawn at a take-off speed of 530 mlmin and a ratio of 1: 1.8 without a drawing pin at room temperature and swirled at about 15 knots / meter immediately after the drawing zone. In a second operation, the thread is fed through a closed radiation heater of 70 cm length at a heater temperature of 225 ° C with 20% advance. Here too, the processing thread tension corresponds to the process-related relaxation tension. The withdrawal speed is 110 mlmin.

The polyester threads according to the invention are represented by their characteristic curves in FIGS. 2-4. The curves obtained from the continuous and discontinuous production process are practically identical.

In Fig. 1, the reference numeral 1 denotes a first delivery plant 1. The delivery unit 1 is followed by a second delivery unit 2 with a separating roller 2 '. A heater 3 is arranged between the delivery unit 2 and a take-off unit 4 with a separating roller 4 ', which is followed by a winding unit. An undrawn polyester POY 5a is taken up by the delivery unit 1 and is cold-drawn by the delivery unit 2 in a stretching zone 5b. The take-off unit 4 runs at a lower speed than the delivery unit 2, as a result of which the drawn thread passes through the heater 3 with an adjustable advance in a relaxation zone 5c. The result is a heat-relaxed thread with the properties according to the invention.

The pronounced relaxation shoulders of the threads according to the invention in FIG. 2 and the shrinkage values which are low in relation to a normal thread over the entire temperature range (FIG. 3) are clearly recognizable. In addition, the striking preload-force influence on the shrinkage can be seen in FIG. 4.
