Er besteht aus einem über Stirn, Schläfen und Hinterkopf verlaufenden Kopfring und aus zwei über den Kopf verlaufenden, sich kreuzenden Sicher­heitsbändern. Diese Sicherheitsbänder sind dabei in der Weise angeordnet, daß sie jeweils schräg über den Kopf verlaufen, also etwa vom Augenbereich über die Kopfmitte zu dem Bereich zwischen Hinterkopf und Ohr. Diese Ausgestaltung bringt den Nachteil mit sich, daß gerade ein besonders empfindliches Teil des kindlichen Schädels, nämlich die Fontanelle, nicht geschützt ist. Die Fon­tanelle befindet sich oberhalb der Stirn etwas hinter dem Haar­ansatz im Bereich der Symmetrieebene des Kopfes.
