Definitions
- the present invention relates to a plastic closure for a container for flowable media with a measuring cup serving as a lid.
- Closures of the type mentioned above are known for example from FR-A-1.448.275 and EU-A 0 109 704.
- the known closures have a lower part which can be fastened on the container, with an outwardly directed tubular pouring opening and a wall surrounding it, which forms an annular trough around the tubular pouring opening.
- the annular trough has a drain for returning residual amounts of the medium therein to the container.
- the measuring cup serving as a lid lies in the closed state with its loading cherrand within the annular trough. The remaining quantities flow from the measuring cup into the ring-shaped trough and from there back into the container.
- the measuring cup is connected to the lower part by means of fastening means which are attached to the outside of the measuring cup and to the inside of the wall surrounding the pouring opening.
- the connecting means provided are usually mating threads.
- a plastic closure according to the preamble of claim 1 characterized in that the measuring cup (2) serving as a lid has an annular wall (23) on the fastening means, which fits tightly with the tubular pouring opening (11) and is arranged centrally in the measuring cup base (21) (24) are attached, which cooperate with fastening means (17) on the tubular pouring opening (11).
- the lower part 1 can be seen as a tubular jacket and the conical measuring cup 2, which is put upside down and serves as a cover for the closure.
- the clearly recognizable ribs 20 increase the grip.
- the upper edge of the measuring cup 2 in the position of use lies in the closed state of the closure within the lower part 1.
- the lower part 1 is shown in detail on a larger scale in FIG. Basically, the lower part 1 consists of a tubular pouring opening 11, which is surrounded by an annular wall 12.
- the ring wall 12 and the tubular spout 11 are connected to one another via an intermediate wall 13 inclined to the longitudinal axis.
- the inside of the ring wall 12 is provided with an internal thread 14 which fits on the external thread of a container neck, not shown.
- the lowermost area of the inside of the ring wall is provided with a sawtooth-shaped toothing 15, which coincides with such toothing at the lower edge of the container neck and prevents the lower part 1 from being unscrewed from the container neck.
- the intermediate wall 13 has been raised peripherally to such an extent that sufficient space remains for receiving the neck of the container. At its upper end it forms an annular shoulder 16 which is inclined centrally towards the pouring opening.
- the annular trough 18 which is formed by the annular wall 12 and the intermediate wall 13 around the tubular pouring opening 11.
- the intermediate wall 13 which is inclined to the longitudinal axis, is provided with an outlet 19 at least at its lowest point. If the container which is provided with the closure according to the invention lies, then liquid flows out of the container through the drain 19 into the closure and the measuring cup. If you set it up and unscrew the measuring cup 2, most of this liquid flows back into the container.
- one smaller retention lip 30 extends around a partial circumference of the inclined shoulder and another arranged larger retention lip 31.
- the two retaining lips 30 and 31 together form a kind of cascade similar to a stream covering.
- the detailed design of the measuring cup serving as a lid can be seen in FIG. 3.
- the measuring cup 2 has a flat bottom 21 and a cup side wall 22 that tapers conically to the measuring cup bottom.
- a tubular annular wall 23 is formed centrally in the measuring cup bottom.
- the sealing pin formed by the annular wall 23 has an outer diameter which is adapted to the inner diameter of the tubular pouring opening 11.
- the sealing pin, or the ring wall 23, is provided with an external thread 24, which cooperates with the internal thread in the tubular spout when the closure is closed.
- a sealing lip 25 shown in broken lines in the drawing and shown in section can be provided around the sealing pin.
- the thread on the outside of the spout Attach opening which of course means that the thread cooperating with it is then attached to the ring wall 23 in the cup bottom 21 on the inside of the ring wall.
- a circumferential shoulder 27 can be seen on the outside wall 22 of the cup.
- the shoulder 27 lies flush with the ring wall 12, the lower part 1 in the closed state of the closure and thus forms a press seal between the lower part 1 and the measuring cup 2.
- the cup wall 22 is formed into an annular, tapering edge Lip 28 shaped.
- the sharp-edged lip 28 thus improves the serving property of the measuring cup 2 on the one hand and on the other hand it forms an additional seal between the lid 2 and the lower part 1 by resting on the shoulder 16 which is conically inclined to the trough 18 when the closure is closed.
- annular bead 29 is provided opposite the lip 28 slightly upwards. When the measuring cup 2 is screwed on, this scrapes off residual amounts adhering to the ring wall 12 into the trough 18.
- the space between the shoulder 27 and the annular bead 29 represents an expansion space which prevents small amounts of the liquid remaining there from being pressed out and thus not contaminating the closure.
- the sealing pin which is formed from the ring wall 23 in the measuring cup base 21, can also serve as a second measuring cup for measuring smaller quantities. This is a considerable advantage, considering that in the previous solutions, units of measurement that were only graphically marked on the inside of the measuring cup in the form of barely visible signs.
- the cavity between the ring wall 23 and the cup outer wall 22 and the trough 18 can fill up completely. If you set up the container and open the closure, there can still be a considerable amount of the container in the measuring cup 2. The reason for this can be seen in the fact that the tubular spout 11 is sealed and the relatively small drain 19 is also closed by the remaining amount of the container contents is and thus the air exchange between the cavity in the closure and the container is hindered.
- the embodiments according to FIGS. 4 and 5 show a solution to this problem.
- the tubular spout 11 has an elongated opening 40.
- This opening 40 represents on the one hand an enlarged backflow opening and on the other hand an air exchange opening between the cavity under the closure lid 2 and the container under the closure lower part 1.
- this opening 40 does not also mean that the contents of the container in can flow the closure, the opening 40 is surrounded by a wall 41.
- This wall 41 forms a chimney through which the air exchange can take place. Tests have shown that, even under unfavorable conditions, the container neck can flow back within the usual unscrewing time.
- the elongated opening 40 which runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the closure, should be provided on that side of the tubular spout on which the drain 19 is also located, that is to say in the wall part of the spout remote from the retaining lips 30, 31.
- the obliquely cut tubular spout 11 forms such a pouring lip 11 ⁇ , which defines a clear pouring direction.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a plastic closure for a container for flowable media with a measuring cup serving as a lid.
Closures of the type mentioned above are known for example from FR-A-1.448.275 and EU-A 0 109 704. The known closures have a lower part which can be fastened on the container, with an outwardly directed tubular pouring opening and a wall surrounding it, which forms an annular trough around the tubular pouring opening. The annular trough has a drain for returning residual amounts of the medium therein to the container. The measuring cup serving as a lid lies in the closed state with its loading cherrand within the annular trough. The remaining quantities flow from the measuring cup into the ring-shaped trough and from there back into the container. The measuring cup is connected to the lower part by means of fastening means which are attached to the outside of the measuring cup and to the inside of the wall surrounding the pouring opening. The connecting means provided are usually mating threads.
The basic idea of such closures is to avoid external contamination of the closure. Compared to closures, in which the measuring cup was simply put over the lower part of the container, that generation of closures with return is a significant improvement. Contrary to all expectations, however, the closure becomes dirty after repeated use. This pollution is due to the interaction of two effects. The metered quantity measured in the measuring cup tends to adhere to the edge of the measuring cup when emptying and, depending on the surface tension of the corresponding flowable medium, more or less pulls towards the outer cup wall. Remaining quantities come into the Area of thread. With each closing process, a new, relatively small quantity of the medium is pumped up in the thread and finally ends up outside the thread in the outer area of the closure. The applicant has recognized these effects and has therefore set itself the task of creating a closure in which this undesirable effect is avoided.
This object is achieved by a plastic closure according to the preamble of
The interaction of the above-mentioned effects is avoided by laying the connecting means from the outer edge of the measuring cup, in its inner and from the edge area of the lower part into the area of the spout. Further advantages and embodiments emerge from the dependent claims and are in the following Description explained with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The
The
Any remaining amounts of the flowable medium that run down the outer wall of the tubular pouring opening reach the
If the container which is provided with the closure according to the invention lies, then liquid flows out of the container through the
The detailed design of the measuring cup serving as a lid can be seen in FIG. 3. The measuring
If the diameter of the tubular spout opening is small, it is also possible, as described earlier, for the thread on the outside of the spout Attach opening, which of course means that the thread cooperating with it is then attached to the
Set back somewhat from the
An outwardly directed
The sealing pin, which is formed from the
In cases in which the containers are transported lying down, the cavity between the
