Description

The invention relates to a light display device which is embedded in a concrete or the like and consists of a plurality of light elements, each of the light elements comprising at least one light source which is embedded in a translucent resin in such a way that at least the upper surface of the resin has a light area forms.

From DE-OS 33 27 110 a light indicator device known as standing is known, in which the light elements are embedded in a block such that the upper, flat surface of the light elements is flush with the top of the block. This block can be used as a display device for streets, buildings, etc. and is installed so that its surface is flush with the surface of the street or the like.

However, it is very tedious to let the individual lighting elements into the block and then connect them to one another by means of cables. If the material of the block or the like is electrically conductive, the electrically conductive areas of the lighting element to be let in, which are not covered with insulating resin, and the lines for the electrical connection of the lighting element must also be electrically insulated.

The invention has for its object to provide a light display device of the type mentioned, which is extremely flexible. Furthermore, a simple method for producing the light display device according to the invention is to be provided.

According to the invention, it is therefore provided that the light display device as a whole is in the form of a cord, adjacent light elements being mechanically and electrically connected to one another by electrically insulated, flexible lines of a predetermined length, and that the lower side and at least one area adjoining the lower side the side wall of each light element is covered with a jacket made of insulating material.

After a plurality of light elements are mechanically and electrically connected in the case of the light display device according to the invention by means of flexible, cord-like lines, the light display devices according to the invention can be configured in a wide variety of configurations with the desired number of light elements, with the desired distance between the individual light elements which can vary in any direction in the direction of the cord-shaped luminous display device, and which are embedded in the desired component in the desired line shape. Because of the flexibility of the light display device according to the invention, it can be embedded in the component even in the case of a curved or uneven surface in such a way that the light elements are flush with the surface or protrude therefrom by a predetermined or the same distance.

After all the electrically conductive outer areas of the lighting elements, including the connection areas, are covered with a jacket made of electrically insulating material, the light display device according to the invention can also be embedded in water-containing cement concrete or in other electrically conductive composite materials without danger.

According to further advantageous features of the invention, it is provided that a lower side facing away from The upper area of the side wall of the lighting elements is not encased with the jacket made of insulating material, a step being formed between the upper area of the side wall of the lighting elements and the jacket made of electrically insulating material. This level makes it possible to place a form of form from above on a plurality of lighting elements and to let them together into one object.

In der Zeichnung zeigen:Further advantageous features of the invention result from the remaining claims in connection with the following description, in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing. The light display device acc. FIG. 1 comprises a number of lighting elements 1, adjacent lighting elements 1 being electrically and mechanically connected to one another by means of a flexible, electrically insulated cable 2. Each lighting element 1 comprises gem. FIG. 2 shows a luminescent zener diode (hereinafter referred to as "LED") lb, which is enclosed in a translucent resin body la so that the surface of the translucent resin body forms a luminous surface. The required electrical components, such as a resistor 4 and connecting terminals or soldering points 5, are arranged on the lower region of the body made of translucent resin.

The lines 2 are electrically insulated in a suitable manner and the ends of the lines 2 are connected to the terminals 5 for the LEDs arranged at the lower region of each lighting element 1, so that adjacent lighting elements 1 are electrically and mechanically connected to one another by means of a line 2 each -The are, so that overall a string-shaped light display device entstent.

A jacket 3 made of electrically insulating material envelops the lower side of the lighting element 1 and a region of the side wall of the lighting element 1 adjoining the lower side, the jacket 3 below the upper side, as can clearly be seen in FIG of the lighting element 1 ends, so that an upper region of the side wall of the lighting element is not encased by the jacket made of insulating material. Along its upper edge, the jacket 3 made of electrically insulating material forms a radially extending step 3a, which in the exemplary embodiment extends from the cylindrical wall of the jacket 3 to the cylindrical wall of the lighting element 1.

In the following, the method for producing the luminous display device according to the invention is explained with reference to FIGS. 3 to 5.

As can be seen from FIG. 3, a plurality of lighting elements 1, in which the LEDs 1b are embedded in the translucent resin 1 a, are embedded on a collecting plate 7, which is preferably provided with circular perforations 8, so that the upper surface forms a luminous surface, applied. For this purpose, 8 small through holes (not shown) are provided in the collecting plate 7 within the perforations, into which the electrodes (not shown) of the light-emitting diodes 1b are inserted. The electrodes of the light-emitting diodes 1b are then soldered to the resistor 4 or the like and the lines 2 to the terminals 5 on the back of the collecting plate. The lighting elements 1 are then removed from the collecting plate 7 together with a part 7a of the collecting plate 7 at the perforations 8.

Each of the lighting elements 1 is then reversed into the shape 6 shown in Figure 4, i.e. upside down, as shown in Figure 5. An insulating resin is then poured into the space between the mold cavity of the mold 6 and the lighting element 1 in order to form the jacket 3 from an electrically insulating material. Since the cross section of the lower region of the mold cavity of the mold 6 corresponds to the cross section of the upper region of the lighting element 1, no insulating jacket is formed in this upper region of the lighting element 1.
