Claims (5)

  1. Ignition distributor cap for an internal combustion engine, incorporating means for fixing and connecting the end of at least one lead (4) for a high tension electrical current consisting of a metal core (4) surrounded by an insulator, these fixing means incorporating at least one clamp enabling the insulator on the lead to be cut, characterised by the fact that it incorporates at least one cylindrical housing (3) provided in the cap to accommodate the end part of the lead (4), at least one blind opening (18), flat in shape, opening out onto the internal face (1c) of the cap, arranged transversely with respect to the housing (3) for the lead (4) and intersecting it, and a clamp (8) made from conducting material, whose shape corresponds to the shape of the opening (18), having a slot (9) over its entire thickness, in its longitudinal direction corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the opening (18), whose width is at most equal to the diameter of the core (14) of the lead, a bevelled end part (11a, 11b) intersected by the end of the slot (9) constituting a means of cutting the insulator on the lead (4) in place in its housing (3) when the clamp (8) is forcibly inserted into the correspondingly shaped opening (18), the conducting core of the lead (4) then coming into contact with the lateral edges of the slot (9) and a part (16, 16', 12, 17) constituting an electrical contact pin projecting with respect to the internal surface (1c) of the cap (1), when the clamp (8) is in place in the opening (18), inside the cap (1).
  2. Distributor cap according to claim 1, characterised by the fact that the clamp (8) is produced by cutting and bending a metal strip.
  3. Distributor cap according to either of claims 1 and 2, characterised by the fact that the flat opening (18) has, in its blind end, inside the cap (1), a part (18a) with a reduced width separated from the normal part of the opening (18) by sloping edges (18b) and that the clamp (8) has, in its end part, a reduced width and sloping edges (21) designed to interact with the sloping edges (18b) of the opening (18) when the clamp (8) is inserted in the opening (18) to bring the lateral edges of the slot (9) closer together.
  4. Distributor cap according to any one of claims 1 to 3, to which are connected a lead (4c), for connecting to the engine ignition coil and several leads (4a, 4b, 4d, 4e) each connected to an engine spark plug, characterised by the fact that the clamps (8a, 8b) corresponding to the leads connected to the spark plugs incorporate pins (16, 16') formed by a simple bending of the clamp (8a, 8b) and that the clamp (8c) corresponding to the lead connected to the ignition coil incorporates a pin (12, 17) formed by a carbon brush held by a spring (14) in a part (12) of the clamp bent into a cylindrical shape.
  5. Distributor cap according to claim 1, characterised by the fact that the slot (9) in the clamp (S) has a width d less than the diameter of the metal core (14) of the lead (4), this metal core being deformed when the clamp (8) is inserted in the opening (18).
