Description
The invention relates to a shadow mask picture tube with a square glass trough and a glass cone, which are connected to one another via molded-on outer flanges.
The glass body for such a picture tube is known from US-PS 43 483 452. In this known embodiment, both the trough and the cone can consist of laminated glass.
The shadow mask must be fastened very precisely in the glass body of a shadow mask picture tube, so that the holes in the mask are arranged in exact optical correspondence with the phosphor dots on the screen and also remain during operation. To make matters worse, the mask has to be removed from the tub several times during the manufacturing process of a color picture tube and reinserted into it without the optical correspondence being allowed to suffer. To attach the mask, it was previously provided with a frame and hung up using springs, spring holders and pins.
The object of the invention is to simplify and cheapen a shadow mask picture tube and its production.
This object is achieved by the measures specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.
Advantageous developments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.
According to the invention, holding plates for the shadow mask are arranged in the picture tube in the region of the corners between the flanges, which are made of a material that has a thermal expansion coefficient matched to the glass material.
By means of such holding plates, the shadow mask can be hung up in a simple but reliable and reproducible manner without a mask frame, spring and spring holder being required as before.
- Fig. 1 shows a top view of part of the tub from the inside.
- FIG. 2 shows the tub with the cone attached in longitudinal section, specifically along the section line AB from FIG. 1.
- Fig. 3 shows a further embodiment for the attachment of a corner of the mask to a holding plate.
The invention is based on a glass trough and a glass cone, which are provided with outer flanges for connecting the two parts.
In Fig. 1 a part of the tub 1 is shown seen from the inside. The
For this purpose, the
It should also be pointed out that during the production process of the picture tube, in which the
Fig. 2 zeigt einen Längssschnitt durch die Wanne mit aufgesetztem Konus längs der Schnittlinie A-B von Fig. 1.FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the trough with the cone attached along the section line AB from FIG. 1.
The
The attachment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is provided at all four corners of the picture tube.
Doming compensation can be achieved in this holder in a simple manner in that the mask is connected to the holding plate via bimetallic plates. Such an arrangement is shown in FIG. 3.
The invention results in a significant simplification and cost reduction in the production of the shadow mask picture tube. Since this also results in a reduction in weight, it is particularly advantageous to use the invention in picture tubes whose trough and cone consist of laminated glass, since this results in an overall reduction in weight of the picture tube by approximately 40%.
