Description
The invention relates to a device for connecting and emptying a packaging containing a liquid and nestable on a joint integral with said packaging, in particular for enteral or parenteral feeding.
Ce système de liaison remplace avantageusement un robinet de distribution et ne concerne en rien l'alimentation entérale ou parentérale.US Patent 3,685,795 relates to a collecting bag, in particular for blood, comprising a connection system making it possible to open and close said bag at will so as to partially distribute the blood from the collecting bag to a second bag. This connection system advantageously replaces a dispensing tap and does not in any way relate to enteral or parenteral feeding.
There are already many connecting devices for feeding patients enterally or parenterally. If the connection is made on the bottom of the supply bag, it is necessary to plan to insert the seals or the pipes in the bag itself, which leads to sealing defects, absolutely unacceptable. In addition, the manufacture of this type of pockets, ending in flared shape, and on which are welded joints with pipes or tubes through which a needle must be introduced, is very complicated and expensive. If the connection is made on the side of the feed bag, most often a needle remains engaged in the bag during use and which risks during the drain to pierce the opposite side. In addition, as the needle remains inside the pocket, it cannot be completely emptied. The present invention makes it possible to provide the user with an absolutely safe device, which is also economical, quick to use and of relatively simple design, allowing complete emptying of the product and the use of a simple confection bag .
The device according to the invention comprises an adaptable part on the joint integral with the packaging, a needle having an axis of symmetry substantially coinciding with that of the adaptable part, means allowing the needle to return to its initial position. an automatic or manual way and a system for the liquid flow.
The adaptable part is made integral with the seal of the packaging either by a screw system, or with bayonets, or with ratchet, or by interlocking, preferably according to a system with annular groove on the seal and annular boss on the adaptable part or Conversely. In any case, it is necessary to arrive at a perfectly watertight connection system.
The material used is a plastic material compatible in the food sector and having good elasticity properties, such as polyolefins, for example polyethylene, natural elastomers, such as rubber or synthetic elastomers such as silicones.
According to a first embodiment, the means allowing the return of the needle is a bellows system arranged in the extension of the adaptable part on the joint. This bellows system has between 1 and 5 plies, preferably between 1 and 3 plies. The use of the device according to the invention will be explained with reference to the figures.
According to a second embodiment, the means allowing the return of the needle is a spring engaged in the adaptable part on the seal. This spring is preferably a coil spring coaxial with the needle.
According to a third embodiment, the means allowing the return of the needle is a system with an annular double groove on the outside of the seal cooperating with a boss system in the interior part of the part adaptable to the seal. It is also possible to provide two annular bosses on the outside of the seal and an annular groove on the adaptable part.
As regards the flow of the feed product, it is done either by a channeling system outside the needle, or by a channel in the extension of the needle, said needle then comprising at least one opening.
The needle is either an integral part of the device, or it is screwed to it, welded or mounted by a system of boss and annular groove, or force-fitted.
One can also provide on the device according to the invention an additional feeding tube allowing the addition of vitamins or others in the basic food.
- Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the device according to the invention according to the first embodiment
- Fig. 2 is a variant of the first embodiment
- Fig. 3 is a representation of the device according to the invention in the second embodiment and
- Fig. 4 is a representation of the device according to the invention according to the third embodiment.
The device (1) according to the invention is intended to be mounted on a pocket (2) containing a liquid product, for example for enteral feeding. This pocket is preferably a flexible plastic pocket comprising a seal (3) with an annular groove. The adaptable part (4) of the device according to the invention comprises an annular boss allowing the device (1) to be joined to the pocket (2). The adaptable part (4) comprises in its extension a flexible bellows system (5) with 5 plies. The needle (6) is coaxial with the part (4) and the system (5) and screwed onto the end piece (7). The pipe (8) can be connected to a flexible pipe connected itself to the patient to be supplied. The operation according to the invention is carried out as follows: the device (1) is mounted on the seal (3). To avoid perforation of the pocket during assembly of said device, there is provided a holding part (21). We then push with the finger in the direction of arrow A until the needle (6) punctures the wall of the pocket (2), we remove the finger, due to the particular design of the flexible system (5 ), the needle (6) returns to its initial position, the liquid is thus sucked out of the pocket (2) and arrives in the device around the needle and flows in the pipe (8) towards the patient to feed. The length of the needle is such that it pierces one side of the pocket and not the other. It can therefore be seen that, according to the invention, there is a system which can be manipulated without risk of error by the user and the assembly of which on the supply pocket takes only a few seconds.
In Fig. 2, the same elements have been noted by the same references. The device (10) differs from FIG. 1 in that the needle (9) has an opening (11) through which the feed liquid will flow towards the pipe (12). The principle of use, however, remains the same as before.
In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the pocket (2) has a seal (22) with an annular stop (23). The device according to the invention (24) is engaged on the seal (22). The adaptable part (25) comprises a spring (26) and a stop (27). The needle (29) includes an opening (28). In this version, the seal is produced by the needle (29) in the interior of the seal (22).
When the adaptable part (25) is on the seal (22), the needle is pushed so that it pierces the pocket (2). The spring (26) is compressed by pressing on the stops (23) and (27). When the pocket is pierced, it is released and the device returns to its initial position by the reaction force of the spring (26). The liquid flows through the opening (28) in the needle towards the patient to be supplied.
In the embodiment of FIG. 4, the pocket (2) has a seal (14) with two annular grooves (15), (16). The device (13) according to the invention comprises an adaptable part (17) with a circular boss (18), the needle (19) and the pipe (20). The procedure is as follows: the device (13) is pushed in the direction of arrow A until the boss (18) cooperates with the annular groove (15). The needle (19) then pierces the wall of the pocket (2) and the feed liquid flows into the device. It then remains to remove the device (13) into the initial position.
The device according to the invention is of simple design, practical to use, economical, rapid, allowing the complete draining of the product on any type of packaging, in particular on a square or rectangular pocket. Packaged in a sterile manner, it minimizes the risk of contamination during use.
The device according to the invention also finds an application for emptying containers of liquids for the drink, in which case a tap is optionally provided afterwards.
