To all 'whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN JOSEPH BnEAUx, a citizen `of the United States, re-
siding at Lafourche Crossing, in the county of Lafourche and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Faucet; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an improved faucet and one of the objects of the invention is to provide a device of this kind including an auger' at its inserting end for tapping or making a bunghole substantially7 at the same time the faucet is attached to a barrel, thereby facilitating the access to the contents of the barrel.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for facilitating the opening of the valve of the faucet, said opening means having means for holding the valve in different open positions.
In practical fields, the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed. y
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings Figure l is a view of a portion of a barrel or similar container shown in section, illustrating the improved faucet as applied.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view longitudinally through the faucet, showing the same applied to a barrel, which is in section.
Fig. 3 is a detail view of the means for camming the valve of the faucet to different open positions.
Referring more especially to the draw ings, v1 designates the casing of the faucet, which is elongated and hollow, and has a tapered end portion 2, and at the tapered end of this portion, there are diametrically opposite elongated openings 8, through which the contents of the container or barrel 4 may pass into the chamber 5 of the faucet casing. Beyond the tapered end of said tapered portion, the casing terminates in an auger 6, which constitutes means for boring or cutting the bung hole 7 for the reception of said faucet casing, thereby facilitating the attachment of the faucet, at the same time tapping a barrel of any suitable beverage. The cylindrical part S of the faucet casing has on its interior wall an integral disk wall 9 provided with an opening 10, the wall of which is tapered or conical to form a valve seat 11, with which the valve 12 coperates to control the flow through the opening. The valve 12 has a stem 13 mounted in a bearing of the projection 14 of the inner Surface of the faucet casing. Carried by the stem 13 is a collar 15, between which and the projection 14, a coiled spring 16 is interposed, said spring being mounted upon the stem and acting against the collar 15 to hold the valve open. The faucet casing has a fluid outlet extension 17. Threaded upon the end portion 1S of the casing is a cap 19, through which the stem 13 extends. The extremity of the stem is bent to form a pivot 20 for the cani 21, which is provided with a lever 22. The edge (which 'is eccentric to the pivot 20) of the cam 21, is provided with a series of teeth 23, between any two of which the V-shaped rib 241 of the cap 19 is designed to engage, so as to hold the cam in di'erent adjusted positions, so as to hold the valve 12 in different open positions. A s shown in Fig. 2, the valve is open, and when the lever 22 is moved in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 2, the valve may be moved to its closed position, as shown in Fig. 1.
The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In a self attaching faucet for bungholes, a casing having an inlet at one end and an outlet extension near the opposite end and provided with a valve seat on its interior, a valve having a stem to coperate with said seat, guiding means for the stem, spring means on the stem to normally hold the valve open, a cap on the outer end of the casing through which the stem passes, said cap having a rib, and a cam provided with a lever pivoted to the outer extremity of the stem and provided with a series of teeth on its edge, between any two of which said rib engages to hold the cam in different adjusted positionsand consequently holding the valve in dilferent open positions.

In a self attaching faucet for bungholes, a casing having inlet and outlet openings at its respective opposite end portions, said cas? ing having a valve seat on its interior, the outlet opening being intermediate the outer extremity of the casing and said valve seat, a valve coperating with said seat, a guide on the interior of the casing, said valve having a stem mounted in said guide and guided in the outer end of the casing, said outer end of the casing having a transverse rib, a cam 5 having its edge toothed to coperate With` the rib, the outer extremity of the stem being bent t0 form a pivot for the cam, Whereby the rib may engage different teeth of said cam, a collar on said stem, and a spring on .0 the stem interposed between the collar and the guide, against the action of Which, the cam may be set to hold the valve in different adjusted open positions.-
