Abstract

The safety ski binding comprises a base plate on which a spring housing for a release spring is mounted for displacement transversely on the longitudinal direction of the ski. Mounted in the spring housing are two hinged jaws laterally engaging a ski boot and rotatably supported about vertical axes. For improving the retention of the ski boot and for facilitating the lateral release in the case of a rearward torsion fall, a U-shaped pivot member is mounted on a transverse axial member in the spring housing and supports a further transverse axial member supporting a catch lever subjected to the action of the release spring to be engaged with a nose of a clamp retainer rotatably mounted about another transverse axial member, which suppports a sole clamp.

Description

The invention relates to a safety ski binding according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a ski binding has already been described in the subsequently published AT-B-383 044. This ski binding had the disadvantage that the sole of the shoe was only held on the side by two swivel jaws, which only opened when the skier turned, but not when the skier suffered a backward fall.

Another ski binding is described in DE-A1-34 03 472. This ski binding has a housing that is screwed onto the top of the ski and in which a four-bar linkage is housed. The latter consists of two handlebars and a coupling. Swivel jaws are rotatably mounted on the hinge axes of the coupling. How the pivot jaws are to be locked and how the quadrilateral joint is to be kept in its normal position is not described in the publication, especially since it is the aim of the invention according to DE-A1-34 03 472 to increase the friction in the front jaw when moving forward - or to prevent reverse turning.

In itself, the thought is with a safety ski binding to use a jaw body, which can be used either as a toe or as a heel, is already known, as the AT-B-294.645 shows. In the case of this shoe body, a sole holder is also provided which laterally encompasses the ski boot and which is held in the central position against lateral as well as against vertical release via a release mechanism acted upon by a single spring. To release the shoe, the jaw body can be pivoted on the one hand about a vertical axis fixed to the base plate and on the other hand it can be pivoted upward about a transverse axis. However, a step plate is missing, which would be movably mounted on the base plate transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski.

The present invention has for its object to eliminate the disadvantage mentioned at the outset and to create a ski binding in which the sole of the ski boot is held in place not only by lateral pivoting jaws, but also by a sole hold-down device, the latter being reversed when the skier falls over Lift off the top of the ski a little and make it easier to release the ski boot from the side.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. In this construction of a binding, the release spring has two functions, namely to hold the tread plate and the spring housing in the middle position and at the same time to press the sole retainer against the sole of the ski boot via the locking lever articulated on the rocker arm. If the sole holder is loaded by the skier's back, there is no fall yet there is a certain relief of the release spring in the spring housing. However, if the skier falls backwards, the sole hold-down is raised.

In order to keep the spring housing and the tread plate in the middle position by the piston loaded by the release spring, there are various possibilities, one of which is specified in claim 2. Due to the initiated backward turn of the skier, a force acting in the direction of the ski boot is caused by the locking lever on its transverse axis, whereby the rocker exerts pressure on the cam disk. This leaves a residual force in the control system of the toe piece, which continues to ensure that the ski boot is centered.

The feature of claim 3 results in a particularly space-saving and simple structure.

Finally, the pivot angle of the hold-down device is kept small by the features of claim 4.

In the drawing, an example embodiment of a safety ski binding according to the invention, in particular a toe piece, is shown purely schematically. 1 is a vertical longitudinal central section through the toe piece in the driving position and FIG. 2 is a reduced section along the line II-II in FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a reduced partial section along the line III-III in FIG. 1 reproduced. Fig. 4 is a section along the line IV - IV in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 shows a plan view of a detail of the toe, finally in Fig. 6, which is about that 3 corresponds to the front jaws reproduced after a fall. The spring that connects the two support members to one another was not drawn in for the sake of clarity.

The safety ski binding according to the invention has a base plate 1 to be fastened to the ski, which carries in its front region a bolt 2 which runs perpendicular to the upper side of the ski and on which a roller 2a is mounted. With 2b an intermediate sleeve is designated. Below the intermediate sleeve 2b is a profile iron 3, which serves to guide a tread plate 4 parallel to the top of the ski. The profile iron 3 is fastened with screws 3a together with the base plate 1 to the ski. The tread plate 4 is connected to the base plate 1 by means of links 5 and 6. However, instead of the handlebars 5 and 6, it can also be guided transversely with respect to the ski by a second profile iron.

A shaft 7 is rotatable in the tread plate 4, but is secured and secured against axial displacement. On the front end of the tread plate 4 there is a control plate 8 which is fastened to the shaft 7 and which has a fork at its front end which is supported on the roller 2a. At a distance from the control plate 8, a control disc 9 is placed on the shaft 7, which carries a control lever 9a. The control disc 9 can be rotated about the shaft 7 and runs in the region of the shaft 7 parallel to the control plate 8, the control lever 9a being free End is angled by 90 °. The control lever 9a engages in an arcuate slot 8a in the control plate 8 with play (see Fig. 2). The control disk 9 carries, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 3, in its area adjacent to the shaft 7 two stops 9b, on which support members 10, which are loaded by a spring 10a, are supported by two pivoting jaws 11, the latter being pivotably mounted on axles 12 in a spring housing 13 which is fastened to the footplate 4 in the front region thereof. The two support members 10 are each mounted on an axis 11a of the swivel jaws 11.

In the spring housing 13 there is a bore 13a extending in the longitudinal direction of the ski, in which a release spring 14 is accommodated, the pretensioning of which can be set in a manner known per se and checked by means of a mark (not shown) and a scale fixed to the housing. The end of the release spring 14 remote from the ski tip is supported on a piston 15. Arranged below the bore 13a in the spring housing 13 is an axis 16 which extends in the transverse direction and on which a U-shaped hold-down device 17 is mounted, as seen in the longitudinal direction of the ski. The legs of the hold-down device 17 are guided in slots in the spring housing 13. Above the bore 13a there is a transverse axis 18 on which a U-shaped rocker 19 is also mounted, as seen in the longitudinal direction of the ski. Between the legs of the rocker 19 there is another transverse axis 20 for a locking lever 21. This locking lever 21 is pressed by the piston 15 loaded by the release spring 14 against a nose 17a of the hold-down device 17.

In the hold-down device 17 there is a screw 22 running perpendicular to the upper side of the ski, which screw is rotatably mounted in the hold-down device 17 with play, but is secured against axial displacement. A sole hold-down device 23 is screwed onto this screw 22. The screw 22 passes through a hole in the tread plate 4, which has a downwardly open recess at this point, and carries at its lower end a thickening 22a, through which the displacement of the screw 22 and thus that of the sole retainer 23 is limited.

On the shaft 7, a cam disk 24 is fastened above the control disk 9, on which the web 19a of the U-shaped rocker 19 is supported in the travel position of the front jaw.

In the travel position of the toe piece, all components assume the position shown in the drawing. The ski boot is held on the one hand by the two swivel jaws 11 and on the other hand by the sole hold-down device 23.

If the skier falls, the tread plate 4 and with it the spring housing 13 are moved transversely to the vertical longitudinal center plane of the ski. The control lever 9a comes to rest on one end of the elongated hole 8a in the control plate 8 and is carried by it. At the same time, the piston 15 is pushed back somewhat in the bore 13a of the spring housing 13 by the cam disk 24 via the web 19a of the rocker 19. When the predetermined deflection of the tread plate 4 or the spring housing 13 is reached, the support member 10 of the one pivot jaw 11 is pivoted by a stop 9b of the control disk 9, so that this pivot jaw 11 is released.

If, on the other hand, a reverse turn of the skier is initiated, the sole hold-down device 23 is raised, the displacement path of which is caused by the Depth of the recess in the tread plate 4 is limited. At the same time, a force acting in the direction of the ski boot is applied by the locking lever 21 on its transverse axis 20, whereby the rocker 19 exerts pressure on the cam disk 24 through its web 19a. This leaves a residual force in the control system of the toe piece, which still maintains the centering of the ski boot.

The invention is not tied to the embodiment shown in the drawing and described above. For example, an embodiment in which the path covered by the tread plate in the event of a rotary fall is limited by stops is also to be covered by the protection of the invention. Furthermore, the two support members 10 can each be acted upon by a spring.
