Description

The invention relates to a dedusting device for flat knitting machines, with suction nozzles which are arranged on the carriage of the flat knitting machine and are aligned with the needle beds and which are connected to a suction motor arranged on the carriage and driven by an electric motor.

A dedusting device of the type mentioned above has been proposed in DE-OS 33 05 795.

Dedusting devices arranged on the carriage of flat knitting machines inevitably mean an increase in the carriage weight. In order to keep this increase in weight within limits, efforts must be made to design the dedusting device as compact and low-mass as possible. On the other hand, a sufficient dedusting effect must also be guaranteed. Based on this problem Position, the invention has for its object to provide a dedusting device of the type mentioned so that it gives a high efficiency with a low power to weight ratio and can be operated as maintenance-free and energy-saving as possible.

The stated object is achieved according to the invention in the dedusting device of the type mentioned at the outset in that separate and individually switchable and controllable suction fans are provided for the front and rear needle beds and suction nozzles connected to them are lowered down into the stitch formation region of the needle heads.

The use of two separately controllable and switchable suction fans results in the advantage that, instead of a large-volume and therefore bulky dedusting device, two smaller suction fans, which can be accommodated more easily on the slide, can be used. When working on a two-bed flat knitting machine only or predominantly on a needle bed, with the dedusting device designed according to the invention, the dedusting can be limited to the front needle bed without blocking devices for a part of the suction channels, and the energy expenditure for the dedusting of the front and the rear needle bed can be rationally adapted to the different degree of use through different actuation intervals.

The amount of energy required for fluff suction is very greatly reduced in the dedusting device designed according to the invention by lowering the suction nozzles down to the stitch formation area of the needle heads, the suction nozzles advantageously can have lateral opening edge recesses on both sides of their slide direction, which give the needle heads that have been run over and exposed to the suction effect free space for immersing and for executing the needle tongue impact. Due to the reduced energy expenditure, smaller and less powerful and therefore also lighter suction fans can be used, the energy saving being able to be reduced even further by the formation of the suction fans and the suction channels leading from the suction nozzles to the suction fans. For this purpose, the suction channels can expediently consist of hoses with a circular cross-section, which have a highly smooth and advantageously also an electrically antistatic inner surface, which ensures low-resistance fluff and dust transport into the dust collection container of the suction fan.

Advantageously, the suction fans can be designed such that the suction channels leading from the suction nozzles to the associated suction fan tangentially open into the upper end face region of a vertically oriented, circular-cylindrical dust collecting container, the upper end face of which has a central sieve opening, above which the suction fan is arranged. With this arrangement in connection with a suction fan wheel for an axial air intake and a tangential air discharge, there is good dust discharge into the dust collection container and there is no danger of the sieve opening leading to the fan wheel of the suction fan becoming blocked, which ensures the maintenance of a high vacuum value at the suction nozzles is important and keeps the maintenance work for the dedusting device small. The suctioned dust is agglomerated by cyclonic swirling and falls faster to the ground due to this compaction. The expediently circular-cylindrical dust collecting container can be designed with a relatively small volume without shortening the emptying intervals. A dedusting device designed in accordance with the invention can thus be arranged in a relatively small and compact design with short suction channels on the side and above the slide driving device on the slide, the two suction fans advantageously being arranged one behind the other and with opposite rotors in the running direction of the slide. Due to the counter-rotating rotors, the torque loads of the carriage are largely canceled out by one another when both suction fans are operated simultaneously, as a result of which the fastening construction for the dedusting device can be designed more easily.

An exemplary embodiment of a dedusting device designed according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing.
