Definitions
- the invention relates to a nozzle for blast furnace nozzle, or other similar melting-reduction furnaces, provided with means for overheating the wind.
- This nozzle has a metal outer wall and an inner coating of hard refractory material. It consists of a cylindrical body, a truncated cone whose side of large diameter is connected to the body, and a substantially cylindrical nose connected to the side of small diameter of the truncated cone, these three elements, body, cone and nose, being arranged one after the other and coaxial.
- Nozzles of this type are known, the function of which is to bring a preheated gas, in particular air, (called “wind”) to the nozzles which equip the periphery of the blast furnace at the end of the crucible.
- These nozzles installed in orifices provided in the wall of the furnace, are supplied with gas by the “descents" of wind, connected to the circular which receives the hot wind from the cowpers.
- the wind is preheated in auxiliary devices of the furnace, the cowpers, and blown into the furnace at high temperatures, of the order of 1200 ° C., in the case of steel blast furnaces.
- These high temperatures therefore require the presence of the refractory lining inside the nozzle.
- the external metal wall of the nozzle simply cooled by natural convection, is then conventionally brought to a temperature in the region of 300 ° C. This temperature causes the metal to expand and thus more or less detachment of the refractory concrete relative to the metal sheet.
- This phenomenon is also favorable, in that it limits the heat losses from the nozzle to the atmosphere, because the thermal conductivity between the refractory and the metal sheet is then reduced.
- the resulting rise in wind temperature (a temperature of 1800 ° C is easily obtained in the case of a steel blast furnace instead of the usual 900-1100 ° C) caused additional stresses in the nozzle and in in particular the almost necessity of cooling the external metal wall of the nozzle, for example by circulation of water around it.
- the torch is located on the nozzle itself, it is also desirable to modify its shape and above all to increase the diameter to keep the internal wall of the nozzle away from the jet of gaseous plasma as much as possible.
- the object of the invention is to improve the operation of ovens with superheated wind, by reducing thermal losses at the level of the nozzle.
- Another object is to provide a nozzle perfectly adapted to operate with superheated winds, and more particularly a nozzle comprising electrical means for superheating the wind, of the plasma torch type.
- the nozzle comprises, between the metal outer wall and its usual interior compact refractory lining, a layer of fibrous insulating material placed at least on a part of the body or of the trunk of the nozzle cone.
- the inventors have found that the heat losses had two essential causes, the first comes from the fact that, the overheated wind nozzle being cooled externally, (by forced circulation of a fluid on the metal wall) the temperature difference between the interior and the outside of the nozzle is greatly increased, the internal temperature T2 being higher and the external temperature T1 being lower.
- the external metal sheet being strongly cooled does not expand or very little compared to the internal refractory lining.
- the thermal resistance of the "refractory - sheet" interface is minimal, unlike the case of conventional non-cooled nozzles mentioned previously. Heat exchanges are all the easier and a large amount of energy is dissipated unnecessarily by the cooling circuit.
- Another advantage is that, these bolts being reduced, the heat energy supplied to the tower by the wind is increased and that the operation of the oven is improved.
- Yet another advantage is that it is not possible to keep the dimensions, and in particular the diameters of the standard nozzle according to the prior art, by replacing the outer periphery of the compact refractory concrete with the layer of insulating fiber. It is thus possible to reduce the overall thickness of the refractory lining, and therefore to keep the same size as the standard nozzles while benefiting from a significant reduction in heat losses.
- the fibrous insulation is placed at the level of the body and at the level of the truncated cone. In this way the effect of decreasing the heat losses is maximum in the zone of supply of the hot wind into the nozzle by the downspout, and in the zone of overheating of said wind by the electrical means of superheating placed on the nozzle.
- the plasma torch for overheating the wind is placed axially on the nozzle, and the diameter thereof is globally reduced, to the point of being equivalent to the diameter of the nozzle of the prior art , not equipped with plasma torch.
- This arrangement is particularly advantageous because, compared to a lateral implantation of the torch, it avoids the deterioration of the internal wall of the nozzle located opposite the torch, which makes it possible to reduce the diameter which, otherwise, must be increased to allow the implantation of a plasma torch with an oblique stitching with respect to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.
- the thermal losses of the nozzle are further reduced. Indeed, for a given amount of heat conveyed by the wind through the nozzle, the wall surface being smaller, the surface flux of the losses through these walls increases, but it has been found that, overall, the losses decrease.
- the nozzle In a blast furnace, the nozzle is placed coaxially with the nozzle which opens into the interior of the furnace and held in abutment against it by the nozzle nose 6.
- the hot wind coming from the cowpers arrives in the busillon laterally by the downspout of wind 7, crosses the busillon, heats up in contact with the flow of very high temperature plasma gas emitted by the plasma torch 8, passes through the nozzle of the nozzle in the blast furnace nozzle from which it is ejected into the enclosure of the blast furnace.
- the nozzle comprises a metal wall 1 cooled by forced circulation of water in the enclosure 10 which surrounds it.
- the interior of the nozzle consists of a lining of refractory concrete 2 covering the entire length of the nozzle. This comprises three zones: the body 4 of cylindrical shape into which the wind descent 7 opens, the plasma torch 8, and which is closed at its rear end by a plate 9; the cone 5 of frustoconical shape connected by its large diameter to the body 1; and the nose 6, of cylindrical shape, which connects to the side of small diameter of the cone 5.
- the plasma torch 8 is fixed to the side wall of the body oriented towards the nose of the nozzle, its axis making an angle of 45 ° with the axis of the nozzle.
- the plasma dart is not totally deflected by the wind, and strikes the internal surface of the refractory in front of the torch which causes faster wear at this location.
- the axial arrangement of the torch provides an additional advantage because it makes it possible to reduce the diameter of the nozzle compared to the configuration described above.
- the diameter of the body instead of 280 mm in the case of the side torch
- the average diameter of the cone instead of 200 mm
- the surface flux of these two zones increases but the overall loss decreases.
- a nozzle according to the invention comprises, for example at the level of the body with an internal diameter of 220 mm, 50 mm of refractory concrete having a conductivity of 4.07 W / m ° K (3.5 Kcal / hm ° C), and 10 mm of fibrous insulation ("Kerlane 60" @ type ) resistant to 1400 ° C; at the level of the 200 mm average diameter cone, 35 mm of concrete and 5 mm of fibrous insulation of the same kind as for the body, and at the level of the 178 mm diameter nose, 12 mm of concrete only.
- This nozzle is capable of withstanding wind at 1800 ° C and makes it possible to reduce thermal losses by 50% compared to a standard nozzle of larger diameter and not comprising fibrous insulation.
- the saving thus achieved by the invention is equivalent to a gain of 3% on the power of the plasma torch.
- An additional advantage of the nozzle according to the invention is that, although the thickness of refractory concrete is reduced (50 mm instead of 60 mm for the standard nozzle of the antenna art). the resistance is not appreciably reduced.
- the temperature difference between the internal face of the refractory and its external face being smaller, owing to the fact that said external face is no longer in direct contact with the cooled sheet, said refractory is subject to less thermal stress and its resistance is further improved
- the invention is not limited to the example described above.
- we can for example place a layer of 20 mm of fibrous insulation.
- the thermal losses of the body can be reduced to the fifth of those obtained by the nozzle of the antenna art.
