Abstract

A known extension cable for an antenna cable carries a plug at one end and a socket at the other end, so that its plug can be connected, for example, to the socket of the antenna cable. To reduce the production cost, the extension cable (15) according to the invention carries a coaxial mother plug (14) at least at the end to be connected to the antenna cable (10), in the same way as the antenna cable. A coaxial adapter (13) is used for connecting the mother plug (14) of the extension cable to the mother plug (12) of the antenna cable. (Figs. 1 to 3). <IMAGE>

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on an extension cable according to the preamble of the main claim.

Extension cables are known (BOSCH car antenna catalog 1986, page 26), but they presuppose that the cable ends of the extension cable have different plug elements, namely an antenna plug and a socket. The known plugs are usually mechanically connected to the cable ends by extrusion coating.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

An extension cable with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that at least one cable end of the antenna cable and extension cable have the same plug parts, so that the production of antenna cables and extension cables is greatly simplified. As a rule, you can even equip all four cable ends of antenna and extension cables with the same connectors.

An extension cable according to the invention in which the contact spring has an approximately triangular cross section is particularly advantageous. This ensures good contact between the elongated contact spring and the connector pins of the mother connector of the antenna cable and extension cable to be connected.

Beschreibung der ErfindungDescription of the invention

In Fig. 1, 10 denotes an antenna cable, one end of which is not shown is detachably or permanently connected to a car antenna and the other end 11 has a coaxial mother plug 12 which is designed as an angle plug and which can normally be plugged onto a corresponding father plug of a car radio input.

In order to extend the antenna cable 10, if necessary, a coaxial adapter piece 13 is inserted into the mother connector 12, which dips a little less than half its length into the mother connector 12. A mother plug 14 of an extension cable 15 is then plugged onto the end of the adapter piece 13 protruding from the mother plug 12. The other end of the extension cable 15 can either be provided with a mother plug 16, as shown in FIG. 3, or, as in the case of an extension cable 17 according to FIG. 4, with a straight coaxial antenna plug 18. Like the antenna connector 18, the coaxial mother connector 16 fits into a corresponding connector element of a car radio.

In a cap-shaped insulating material part 20, the mother plug 12 has a resilient outer conductor contact 21 in the form of an axially multiply slotted cap and an insulated central plug pin 22. The insulation between the outer conductor contact 21 and the plug pin 22 is achieved at the same time as the cap-shaped insulating material part is produced by spraying or pressing. Simultaneously with the aforementioned manufacture of the cap-shaped insulating material part, a radially projecting insulating material tube 23 is also formed, which encloses the insulation of the antenna cable and connects to it; see. also Fig. 4. The plug pin 22 is provided at its free end with a conical taper 24, and the free end of the outer conductor contact 21 has an inwardly directed projection 25, the meaning of which is explained below.

Fig. 6. The adapter piece 13 (FIGS. 2, 5 and 6) has an electrically conductive sleeve 30, in which a cylindrical insulating material bushing 31 is fastened. An opening 32 of the insulating material bushing 31 is somewhat enlarged in diameter over most of its length, so that a receiving opening 34 is created for an elongated contact spring 35. The elongated contact spring, as shown in Fig. 6, has an approximately triangular cross section and is provided with a longitudinal slot 36 so that it can be compressed somewhat to be inserted into the receiving opening 34. The elongated contact spring 35 decreases when plugged together Mother connector 12 and adapter piece 13 on the connector pin 22 of the mother connector. The contact is then made in a line at the points identified by a, b, c; see. Fig. 6. The electrically conductive sleeve 30 is provided on its circumference with a constriction 37 (Fig. 5), so that the projection 25 of the outer conductor contact 21 bears against the undercut 38 formed by the constriction 37. This prevents the adapter piece 13 from accidentally falling out of the mother plug 12. The conical taper 24 on the plug pin 22 facilitates the insertion of the same into the elongated contact spring 35.
