Definitions

  • the invention relates to a combination of belts for physiotherapeutic treatment on the lumbar part of the spine.
  • US-A-4,361,322 describes a device which is intended for the tightening of muscles and ligaments on joints and which has to be clamped between two opposing walls, consisting of two U-shaped parts which are fastened with straps on belts which are around the waist and upper body part of a person lying on his back.
  • DE-A-2 000 045 describes a device for stretching the active pillar, consisting of a pelvic girdle with handles.
  • a device was used to make this treatment less painful and more expedient for the patient.
  • the lumbar traction system according to the present invention is a physiotherapeutic aid to enable manual traction on the lumbar spine in a simple and convenient manner in one, two or three-dimensional direction, taking into account the possibilities for the patient and the objectives of the treating therapist, in any desired mass from lordosis to kyphosis.
  • the device according to the invention can be used on a normal massage table, the height of which is adjustable.
  • the particular advantage is that the accessories of this device are adjustable so that they can be adapted to any physique.
  • the fixation of the patient is optimal.
  • the device according to the invention comprises a supporting part in the form of a wedge, a fixing thoracic belt with a broadened chest part and an extension part which can be fastened around the lying surface, and a lumbar belt consisting of a lumbar part and a belly band, connected with tension belts for guidance along the legs
  • a connecting rod a connecting rod
  • a holding cord being attached in the middle of the connecting rod for optional manual, mechanical or motorized stretching
  • the pull straps are provided with handles at the foot end and pass into a folding strap
  • the straps passing through Velcro straps can be strapped and the supporting wedge can be attached to the required places on the bed or on the straps with Velcro straps.
  • the thoracic fixation belt is placed on the underside of the thorax and the pelvic traction belt, which can be adjusted according to the body size, is placed around the patient's loins.
  • the belly band part of the same can also be adjusted according to the body circumference and secured by means of ends with Velcro, which consists of a loop and hook band.
  • Figure 1 shows schematically the position of the patient with the belts of the inventive device.
  • FIG. 2 shows a view from above of the device according to the invention.
  • (1) is the thoracic fixation belt with a wider part (2) and an extension part (3).
  • Part (4) is the pelvic traction belt, which consists of a lumbar part (5), the belly band (6), the handlebars (7) and the lanyard (8).
  • the system mainly consists of a thoracic fixation belt, a pelvic traction belt, a free-hanging extension part for the thoracic fixation belt and a separate traction accessory for the pelvic traction belt, with hook, bar (9) and cord (10).
  • the material for the straps is twill weave canvas, which is embroidered on both sides and is wider where body contact takes place.
  • the material is hemmed along the entire length.
  • the metal temples are galvanized and upholstered on the body side with soft leather cladding.
  • the wide belly band of the thoracic fixation belt must be put on below the lower costal arch with the buckle on the left side of the patient.
  • the narrow part of the band runs under the plate of the treatment table and is held in place by means of a Velcro fastener that is pulled through a bracket.
  • the broad part of the ligament is anatomically shaped, therefore it supports the thorax with little angulation and does not hinder abdominal and flank breathing.
  • the spine is now fixed to the base at the level of the thoracolumbar transition.
  • Attachment and treatment take place by laying the widened part (2) of the thoracic fixation belt (1) on the patient lying down, pulling the thoracic fixation belt under the treatment bed surface, fastening the end with hook and loop surfaces of the Velcro strap, and the lumbar part (5 ) around the loins and the belly band part (6) over the abdomen, the end, which runs through one of the temples, pulls it in and fastens it, whereby the rod (9) will lie between the legs and the traction band is placed around the therapist's hips , and one exercises traction with the lanyard (8) and with the hand on the cord (10).
  • Figure 3 also shows the wedge (11).
  • a manipulation wedge (11) with a Velcro strap can be attached to the inside of the part of the pelvic traction belt (4) located on the lower thoracic vertebra.
  • the wedge (11) is placed with the lower edge on the spinosis process from the upper height and fixed between the tension belt (4) and the patient's back, creating an air space between the couch, the wedge edge and the patient's back.
  • the patient can automatically adjust the fixation during traction.
  • the pelvic traction belt should be put on like a pair of trousers with the wide, adjustable belly band on the front, the two metal brackets covered with leather on both sides and the lumbar part of the traction belt sliding through it on the back.
  • the whole must be attached to the two cristae.
  • the belt fixes itself on the pelvis, depending on the mass by which the traction is exerted.
  • the therapist stands at the foot of the treatment table, climbs into the band and places the broad loin part on his sacrum.
  • the traction is exerted by the therapist's body weight, whereby control with the hands is made possible by reaching into the designated brackets.
  • the length of the traction belt can be adjusted by means of the Velcro fastener, which releases through a bracket.
  • the band can be shortened to the maximum.
  • the length of the belly belt can be adjusted by means of a Velcro fastener, which runs through a bracket and which makes it possible to set a pelvic tilt from maximum lordosis to maximum kyphosis.
  • the patient can also readjust the belly band during traction.
  • traction can be exercised in the back, stomach or side position.
  • the belt grips the pelvis directly with a perfect, self-adapting fixation, which makes it possible to straighten the pelvis and straighten the lumbar spine.
  • the belt also offers the option of practicing traction from above with the pelvis as a fixed point and the thorax as a movable point.
  • the traction is exercised jointly.
  • the belt can be turned for obese patients.
  • the belt must be turned through 180 °, or the traction belts should be crossed before doing this, possibly in combination with raising the couch.
  • the treatment can include continuous traction, intermittent traction, oscillating and stabilizing effects (in total or possibly in segments).
  • the position in which the lumbar spine is placed is determined by the indication, the resilience of the tissue and the patient's position, and the measure of the pelvic setting can be provided with the belly band (6) of the pelvic traction belt.
  • the straps of the pelvic traction belt can be used to apply the force acting on the pelvis and the lumbar spine both symmetrically and asymmetrically.
  • the system was developed for manual use.
  • traction belt by means of a galvanized steel bracket to, for example, an electrically controlled traction device (intermittent / continuous) or to a pulley system (continuously).
  • the steel bar is then fastened to the two traction belts by hooking into the two loops, which are located near each knee.
  • the traction device with pulley consists of two pulley wheels and a non-stretchable plastic line.
  • One roll is hooked in the middle of the steel bracket and the other has to be fastened with a band to the foot end of the deck frame.
  • the line in the rear pulley can be attached.
  • the therapist To end the traction, the therapist must again stand in the traction belt, take over the traction manually, loosen the line and weaken the traction very gradually.
  • Lying with a bare torso on the table top is preferred.
  • the thoracic fixation belt must be fastened.
  • the fixation must correspond to the intensity of traction.
  • the degree of lordosis / kyphosis, the duration, intensity, rhythm and direction depend on the intended goal.
  • the patient After the end of the traction, the patient should always remain on the couch for some time in the position in which traction was used, after which some exercises should follow (build-up of tone, gravity, etc.). Breathing must be physiological (especially when getting up from the couch).
