Definitions

  • the invention relates to an additive sleeve for large-caliber gun ammunition to protect the weapon barrel, consisting of a coated textile fabric, according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • So-called additive sleeves are installed in the cartridges to protect the pipes. These consist of a fabric as a carrier, which is coated with a mixture of wax and titanium dioxide. When the shot is fired, the additive sleeve burns, the melting and evaporation of the wax creating a cooler layer on the tube wall, which protects it from the hot and aggressive combustion gases. See e.g. CH-A 438 093 and US-A 3 282 215.
  • DE-A 27 09 247 discloses a method for ensuring a predetermined service life of a weapon barrel with a coating on the inner wall.
  • a coherent, abrasion-resistant, high-melting, low heat-conducting layer is applied to the inner wall of the weapon barrel during manufacture.
  • metal oxides preferably titanium dioxide
  • this layer is maintained in a thickness that protects the tube underneath from heat damage.
  • the object of the invention is to develop the mechanical properties of the mixture so that the mixture remains dimensionally stable at + 63 ° C.
  • the solution to this problem can be found in the characterizing part of claim 1.
  • the network formed according to the invention increases the viscosity of the mixture so much that the additive sleeve remains mechanically stable in the critical temperature range. When shot, the network collapses due to the high mechanical load. Since the network is reversible, it follows that the processing can be carried out with the usual equipment without any problems and that the melting and burning behavior of the additive sleeve remains unaffected when fired.
  • This additive After intensive mixing, the mass can be applied in a suitable manner.
  • This additive has the property of making the pipe-protecting mixture flammable and therefore has a more effective effect, while at the same time having a safety factor, namely complete combustibility and therefore no chipping or flying off parts in front of the pipe.
  • the addition also increases the energy balance or mixture.

Description

Siehe z.B. CH-A 438 093 und US-A 3 282 215.
