Abstract

The fore-girth for riding saddles has a stiffener made of two encased plates (1) of a solid material, which are interconnected in a mirror-image symmetrical angular position by a strap (2) which spans the withers of the animal and are supported on both sides of the withers behind the shoulder on the animal body. The strap has a flat cross-section and, in a side view of the girth in position, is inclined backwards at an angle so that it engages under the saddle on its front side. It is moreover proposed that the strap interconnects two plates (1) for stiffening the girth, which are shaped in a shell- like manner with a ball-shaped support surface, a mainly hollow shell- shaped upper side lying opposite the curved support surfaces of these plates. <IMAGE>
