Abstract

The fore-girth for riding saddles has a stiffener made of two encased plates (1) of a solid material, which are interconnected in a mirror-image symmetrical angular position by a strap (2) which spans the withers of the animal and are supported on both sides of the withers behind the shoulder on the animal body. The strap has a flat cross-section and, in a side view of the girth in position, is inclined backwards at an angle so that it engages under the saddle on its front side.
