Description

The present invention relates to a fire extinguishing agent and impregnation of organic materials against fire and comprises a water solution and a method for producing this agent.

For fire extinguishing, water and water solutions as well as water-containing solutions have been used for a long time, which form foam when sprayed or heated. For impregnation, water-containing solutions have also been used which, for. B. contain inorganic salts such as ammonium salts and phosphate or water glass.

It has now surprisingly been found that citric acid salts of a specific composition for these two purposes have an extremely fire-extinguishing and fire-retardant effect.

The present invention thus relates to an agent for extinguishing fire and for impregnating organic material against fire, which comprises an aqueous solution, the agent being characterized in that the aqueous solution has a pH of 7.0-8.0 and from a solution of 300-350 g / l of citric acid, which contains an essentially equimolar amount of sodium and potassium in a mutual gram atom ratio of 0.6: 100 to 1.0: 100.

Die Erfindung betrifft auch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von diesem Mittel, das dadurch gekennzeichnet wird, dass 300 - 350 gThe invention also relates to a method for producing this agent, which is characterized in that 300-350 g

Citric acid and an equimolar amount of carbonate, hydrogen carbonate and / or hydroxide of sodium and potassium in a mutual gram-atom ratio of 0.6: 100 to 1.0: 100 can be dissolved in an amount of water up to 1 liter.

B. 5 - 10 %, in getrocknetem Zustande erhöht. B. 2 - 3 %, in getrocknetem Zustande. This agent is suitable for extinguishing fire and also for impregnating organic materials such as wood, fabric, foams etc. The impregnation can also be carried out by immersing it in a bath of the agent, e.g. B. by pressure impregnation, or by spraying. When the fabric is impregnated, the weight of the fabric is best 2 - 15%. e.g. B. 5 - 10%, increased in the dried state. When impregnating wood, the increase in weight is preferably 1-5%, e.g. B. 2 - 3%, in the dried state. In the case of impregnation in this area (400 g of impregnation liquid per m 2 of flakes), fire protection was achieved with a chipboard of 10 mm and with pine planks that met the requirements for class 11 surface layers according to SIS 02 48 23 (NT FIRE 004). When testing for 5 minutes in a standardized combustion chamber, the flue gas temperature curve did not exceed the limit curve for class II and the light absorption did not exceed 20% (time average maximum 30% permitted).

When extinguished, the agent is sprayed directly against the fire source or in such a way that it is distributed over the fire source, e.g. B. in liquid fires.

Das Grammatom-Verhältnis Natrium zu Kalium ist am besten, 0,8 : 100 bis 0,9 : 100 und vorzugsweise etwa 0,84 100.It has been found that the agent preferably has a pH of 7.4-7.0 and that its pH is preferably about 7.6. The sodium to potassium gram atom ratio is best, 0.8: 100 to 0.9: 100, and preferably about 0.84 100.

The present composition is conveniently prepared at approximately the intended pH by preliminary tests showing the amounts of carbonate, bicarbonate and hydroxide that are to be used to achieve this calculated pH. Fine adjustment is then carried out by adding citric acid or hydroxide, preferably potassium hydroxide.

The agent as such is harmless and harmless and does not release any harmful substances even when heated or thermally broken up.

The preparation and use of the present agent are shown in the following examples.

Beispiel 1example 1

Die erhaltene Lösung wurde zur Imprägnierung und Löschung verwendet.3.30 kg of citric acid, 2.05 kg of potassium hydrogen carbonate and 25 g of crystal soda were added to 5 l of water. Everything was stirred and the volume adjusted to 10 liters, after which pH was adjusted to 7.6 with solid citric acid. The solution obtained was used for impregnation and quenching.

Beispiel 2Example 2

An unplaned wooden strip (50 x 50 x 500 mm) was impregnated by brushing with 25 ml of the liquid obtained according to Example 1. This bar was then painted with panel paint, exposed to rain for 20 hours, and showered three times with water. A particle board was impregnated with 200 ml of the liquid obtained according to Example 1 per m 2 . She was exposed to rain for 20 hours and showered with water five times.

The effect of the impregnation was checked with a gas oil burner, the gas flame being held against the material for 10 minutes 10 cm away from the material. Fire did not arise in any of the materials, but extinguished when the gas flame was removed.

Beispiel 3Example 3

A bar (100 x 100 x 500 mm) was filled with 100 ml of the liquid obtained in Example 1 impregnated. It was then exposed to moisture for 40 days.

A planed board (120 x 13 x 500 mm) was impregnated with 250 ml / m 2 of the liquid obtained in Example 1. It was also exposed to moisture for 30 days.

After the bar and board were dried for 5 days, they were tested in the same manner as in Example 2. There was no fire here either. The same test was carried out after 40 days with the same result.

Beispiel 4Example 4

Various upholstery fabrics have been tested. One fabric consisted of 75% rayon and 25% cotton, another made of 100% acrylic and a third made of 100% dralon. Fabrics of different colors have also been tested. The amount of impregnation was 300 ml / m 2 and the liquid prepared according to Example 1 was used. The fabric only changed slightly in some cases and in some cases the fabric became a little stiffer.

The substances were tested with a gas flame after 24 hours and after 48 hours. The gas flame was then held 10 cm from the fabric until holes in the fabric were burned. When the gas flame was removed, the fabric stopped burning.

Beispiel 5Example 5

The same experiment as in Example 4 was repeated with a paper wallpaper which was brushed once with the liquid according to Example 1. When tested in the manner described in Example 4, the free-hanging wallpaper stopped burning when the gas flame was removed.

Beispiel 6Example 6

An ordinary corrugated cardboard box was immersed in the liquid according to Example 1 for 10 seconds. He took up an amount of 400 ml / m 2 . After drying for 36 hours, the box was tested for flame safety. If the flame was removed after 10 minutes, the fire extinguished was extinguished.

Beispiel 7Example 7

Das vorliegende Löschmittel erfüllte dabei die Forderungeh der Klasse A1.The liquid according to example 1 was tested as an extinguishing agent according to the proposal on Swedish standard SS1192, edition 6. The extinguishing agent at hand fulfilled the requirements of class A1.

Tests on impregnated boards have also been carried out, which are located in gasoline fires for 8 minutes. The boards were not lit, so that they continued to burn after an exception. They were also not set on fire again.

Beispiel 8 (Vergleichsbeispiel)Example 8

Als Vergleich wurde ein Gemisch von

Figure imgb0001
zubereitet. pH wurde auf 7,5 eingestellt.A mixture of
Figure imgb0001
prepared. pH was adjusted to 7.5.

The density of the mixture was found to be 1.3. Textiles impregnated with it received a white coating and became quite stiff. This mixture is thus for impregnation z. B. of textiles and paper nothing particularly suitable.

After standing overnight in a container, a fairly large sediment had settled (about 25% of the total dry matter content). The mixture is therefore not suitable for use in a fire extinguisher.

Beispiel 9 (Vergleichsbeispiel)Example 9 (comparative example)

Zu Vergleichzwecken wurde ein Gemisch von

Figure imgb0002
zubereitet. pH wurde auf 7,5 eingestellt. For comparison purposes, a mixture of
Figure imgb0002
prepared. pH was adjusted to 7.5.

Das erhaltehe Gemisch hatte eine Dichte von 1,35 kg/l.The mixture obtained had a density of 1.35 kg / l.

Textiles and paper were impregnated with this mixture and dried for 12 hours with the aid of a heating element. The impregnated samples were lighted with a gas lamp, the edges of the burned area glowing a shorter time after the flame was removed. This mixture was therefore not particularly suitable as an impregnating agent.

A sediment was also formed in this mixture while standing, even if the amount was slightly less than in the previous example. The mixture is not suitable for fire extinguishers.

Beispiel 10 (Vergleichsbeispiel)Example 10 (comparative example)

Im diesem Beispiel wurde ein Gemisch von

Figure imgb0003
zubereitet. pH wurde auf 7,5 mit Zitronensäure eingestellt. In this example, a mixture of
Figure imgb0003
prepared. pH was adjusted to 7.5 with citric acid.

The density of the mixture became 1.36 kg / l and was adjusted to 1.3 with water. The mixture was not suitable for impregnating textiles or paper. If this mixture and the agent according to Example 1 were mixed in the amounts of 40% and 60%, a good effect in extinguishing a fire of z. B. 5 l of diesel oil and 3 kg of dry wood after a combustion time of 5 minutes.

It can thus be seen that an agent with a composition according to the invention gives a better effect or does not have the disadvantages that the mixtures of citrate have in other proportions. It is also found that an acetate mixture as such is unsuitable for impregnation and has not had the same quenching effect as the present agent.
