Claims (11)

1. Method of producing a finished pour opening in a container cover formed from aluminium as a light and gas barrier and from plastics material as protective and sealing layers, having a cutting edge, which is protected from corrosion, along the punched rough opening, characterized in that

b) a rolled flange (11) is produced along the rough opening (9) in such a manner that the cutting edge (19) abuts, or almost abuts, the root (17) of the rolled flange (11);
c) the rolled flange (11) is flattened in a calibration station (13), and an accurately defined, calibrated, finished opening (99) is produced; and
d) the rolled flange (11) is thereby flattened until the protective layer (15), which is applied to the cover (1), is displaced from the interior of the rolled flange (11) between the cutting edge (19) and the root (17) in such a manner that the edge (19) is covered with the displaced protective layer (15) and is sealed against corrosion.
2. Method according to claim 1, characterized in that the rough opening (9) is punched-out and the rolled flange (11) is produced by means of a first tool in the first work station (7), and the cutting edge (19) is calibrated, flattened and sealed by a second tool in the second work station (13).
3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that a pull tab (21) is sealed onto the flattened rolled flange (11) in a third work station (18), which tab (21) is guided towards the finished opening (99) either on a supporting belt (27) or individually.
4. Method according to claim 3, characterized in that the central portion of the pull tab (21), situated above the finished opening (99), is forced downwardly when the pull tab (21) is being sealed onto the rolled flange (11), and it is deformed to form its insertable closure member.

7. Container cover according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the pull tab (21) is detachably connected to the rolled flange (11) along the sealing area (A).
8. Container cover according to claim 7, characterized in that the pull tab (21) is easily detachably connected to the plastics layer (15) which forms the surface of the cover (1).
9. Container cover according to one of claims 5 to 8, characterized in that the central portion (20) of the pull tab (21), in the region of the finished opening (99), engages in said opening in a cup-shaped manner.
10. Container cover according to claim 9, characterized in that at least the layer (39), forming the lower surface of the cover (1), is heat-sealable, and the other layer (15) is formed from a thermoplastic plastics material.
11. Container cover according to one of claims 9 to 11, characterized in that a plastics component part is inserted into the cup-shaped portion (20) of the pull tab (21).
