Definitions
- the invention relates to a connector for printed or otherwise manufactured printed circuit boards, in particular according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the solution according to the invention specified in claim 1 offers the particular advantage of direct contacting of the busbar by a slight modification of existing indirect card plugs, the invention being characterized in that an additional contact spring is used on at least one narrow side of the contact spring strip of the connector for contacting several plug connectors Busbar via a recess in the corresponding narrow side of the protective collar of the contact spring strip.
- the additional contact (s) be inserted into a chamber-like projection which is open on the side and off the narrow side of the contact spring strip provided for the contact with the busbar projects by a piece which corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the protective collar of the contact strip. A corresponding recess is then provided on the protective collar, via which the contacting access of the additional contact spring (s) is ensured.
- the conductor rail itself can be clipped into plastic hooks molded onto the housing part of the knife or pin contact rail or held by additional spring elements connected to this housing part in such a way that the height of the conductor rail can be varied in a simple manner in order to achieve a desired advance of the contacting of the high-current contacts over the Ensure signal contacts of the connector.
- the advance of the current contact can also be achieved by a different, in particular somewhat larger, length of the additional contact spring (s).
- the rear wall 1 for example of an electronic computing device, is equipped with a plurality of (knife or pin) contact strips 11, which are inserted in parallel in parallel alignment next to one another from the top into the rear wall and whose contact pins, which pass through the rear wall, are not shown on the underside here Are wired for example in so-called winding technology.
- the contact pins 16 of a contact track 11 are surrounded by a protective collar 2, the internal dimensions of which are adapted to the outline dimensions of a spring strip 6 (removed in the illustration) which, in a known manner, is equipped with a number of spring contacts (not shown) corresponding to the number of contact pins 16 and at the same time one of a plurality of daughter cards 5 is used for mechanical mounting.
- One or both walls of the protective collar 2 of the contact strip 11 are removed except for a residual section - the cam 7, which serves as protection against rotation in a manner to be described later - on the narrow side 10 of the contact strip 11, so that a recess 9 is formed.
- two conductor rails 3, 4 run along the narrow sides 10, which are freely accessible from the inside of the protective collar 2 via the cutout 9, that is to say can be electrically contacted in the area of the cutout. If only one power rail is required for the power supply of the daughter cards 5, then only one cutout 9 or only one cam 7 can be provided on each contact strip 11.
- the busbars 3, 4 thus form in the region of the cutouts 9 the front end of the collar 2 of the contact strips 11.
- the female connector 6 shown in FIG. 2 in an enlarged perspective partial view shows two projecting side walls 14, 15 in the region of the narrow side 10 'shown in the section engaging in the protective collar 2, which form a chamber open to the narrow side 10' into which Example shown two additional contact springs 8 are used, which contact the associated contact rail 3 or 4 via the recess 9.
- two contact springs 8 which are connected directly and in one piece to one or more connecting contact pin (s) 13, should generally be expedient for reliable contacting of the assigned busbar 3 or 4.
- the distance between the two side walls 14, 15 of the chamber 12 corresponds to the width of the recess 9, while a remaining end wall section 18 corresponds approximately to the width of the cam 7.
- the outer dimensions of the chamber walls 14, 15 in cooperation with the recess 9 and the remaining end wall section 18 in cooperation with the cam 7 form a "mix-up protection" or an anti-twist protection, so that it is always ensured that the respective daughter card 5 with the associated female connector 6th is inserted correctly into the associated contact strip 11 in each case.
- the busbars 3, 4 can be attached by means of contact springs attached to the protective collar 2 or to the rear wall 1 or else to the housing of the device (not shown) in such a way that a slight height adjustment of the contact rails 3, 4, that is to say perpendicular to the plane of the rear wall 1 , and thus an adjustment of the contact lead advance of the power supply is possible.
- the busbars 3, 4 can also be used in receiving slots 20 in the insulating body of the contact strips 11 and be fixed by one or two snap-in hooks 22 or 24, 26 molded directly onto the contact strips 11 by clipping (see FIGS. 3 and 4).
- FIG. 5 ° Another solution for the slightly height-adjustable fixing of the busbar 3 or 4 is shown in FIG. 5 °.
- the busbar 3 or 4 is likewise inserted into the front receiving slots 20 of the insulating body of the contact strip 11.
- a metal bracket 28 is used to fix the busbar 3 or 4, which pulls the busbar 3 or 4 against a cam 30 molded onto the insulating body.
Description
The invention relates to a connector for printed or otherwise manufactured printed circuit boards, in particular according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
For the power supply of a large number of printed circuit boards in electronic devices, in particular for wired back panels in the computer industry - regardless of the respective technical design of the back panels, for example in winding technology, metal plate technology, as a printed circuit in soldering or press-fit technology, various solutions for the power supply and various busbar concepts are known However, in principle they have one thing in common: The usual contacts of the card connector are used to transmit the current to the individual daughter cards within the connector. The direct contacting of a busbar by means of an additional plug is also known.
In devices with a low-voltage supply, as is increasingly the case today in computing systems, the currents flowing through the power supply contacts reach considerable values, especially when very fast switching semiconductor components with a metal barrier layer (Schottky barrier layer) are used. It is also often desirable when connecting a circuit card via the connector to ensure that the power supply is guaranteed for all parts of the circuit before any component on the circuit card to be connected can perform an intended switching function. One speaks here from a so-called desired "current advance". However, if the power supply is established via the usual contacts of the card connector, then at relatively high supply currents, several contacts must be occupied, for which the simultaneous and uniform contact must be guaranteed. Obviously, in this case, the requirement for a power lead is also a certain problem.
However, the other known solution for direct contacting of the busbar by means of an additional plug is obviously more complex and in some cases can also lead to spatial problems in the device.
The solution according to the invention specified in claim 1 offers the particular advantage of direct contacting of the busbar by a slight modification of existing indirect card plugs, the invention being characterized in that an additional contact spring is used on at least one narrow side of the contact spring strip of the connector for contacting several plug connectors Busbar via a recess in the corresponding narrow side of the protective collar of the contact spring strip.
Advantageous developments of the inventive concept are specified in the subclaims and explained in the description below.
To increase the contact reliability on the busbar, it is advantageous to provide two or more additional electrically-galvanically connected contact springs in the aforementioned narrow side of the contact spring strip.
In order to be able to guarantee twist protection for the plug connector against inadvertently incorrect plugging together of the contact strip and the contact spring strip, in an advantageous embodiment it is provided that the additional contact (s) be inserted into a chamber-like projection which is open on the side and off the narrow side of the contact spring strip provided for the contact with the busbar projects by a piece which corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the protective collar of the contact strip. A corresponding recess is then provided on the protective collar, via which the contacting access of the additional contact spring (s) is ensured.
The conductor rail itself can be clipped into plastic hooks molded onto the housing part of the knife or pin contact rail or held by additional spring elements connected to this housing part in such a way that the height of the conductor rail can be varied in a simple manner in order to achieve a desired advance of the contacting of the high-current contacts over the Ensure signal contacts of the connector. The advance of the current contact can also be achieved by a different, in particular somewhat larger, length of the additional contact spring (s).

- Example of the mounting of a busbar in card connectors with features according to the invention.
Die Stromschienen 3, 4 bilden also im Bereich der Aussparungen 9 den stirnseitigen Abschluß des Schitzkragens 2 der Kontaktleisten 11.The rear wall 1, for example of an electronic computing device, is equipped with a plurality of (knife or pin)
The female connector 6 shown in FIG. 2 in an enlarged perspective partial view shows two projecting
Fig. 3 und 4).The
Another solution for the slightly height-adjustable fixing of the
