Abstract

The invention relates to a sleeve assembly for blowing gases or solids into a ladle containing molten metal, e.g. in the area of a sliding closure, the sleeve of which essentially has the shape of a truncated cone provided with a flow channel and which is to be inserted into a perforated brick of the pan wall with a conical opening. In order to ensure a faster and safer setting and replacement of the sleeve, the invention provides that the conical outer surface of the sleeve and the conical inner surface of the opening of the perforated brick have a matching slope for a self-locking fit, preferably of 5 °, and that the conical inner surface of the opening of the perforated brick is lined with a sheet metal jacket of low material thickness of the same pitch. The idea of the invention can also be used advantageously in other than injection sleeves.

Description

The invention relates to a sleeve arrangement for blowing gases or solids into a pan containing molten metal, e.g. in the area of a sliding closure, the sleeve of which essentially has the shape of a truncated cone provided with a flow channel and which is to be inserted into a perforated brick of the pan wall with a conical opening.

In the case of sleeve arrangements of this type, the sleeves had previously been placed with mortar. This means additional material and a lot of time. When replacing a worn sleeve with a new one, unpleasant cleaning work must also be carried out on the conical opening of the perforated brick when exposed to high temperatures. The setting of the sleeve by means of mortar also results in inaccuracies in the seating of the sleeve.

The object of the present invention is therefore to propose a sleeve arrangement of the type mentioned at the outset in which a faster setting and replacement of the sleeve can be achieved with great accuracy of the sleeve seat.

This object is achieved in that the conical outer surface of the sleeve and the conical inner surface of the opening of the perforated brick have a corresponding slope for self-locking fit, preferably of 5 and that the conical inner surface of the opening of the perforated brick is lined with a sheet metal jacket of low material thickness of the same pitch is. This ensures a quick and clean, since mortar-free changing in the relatively hot state with a precise fit of each subsequent sleeve with great security and with little cleaning effort.

Obviously, the idea of the invention can also be used with other than blow-in sleeves, for example also with slide sleeves or other sleeves that could previously only be set with mortar.

The choice of the slope of the cone of perforated brick opening and sleeve shape ensures self-adhesion. The lining of the perforated brick opening with a sheet metal jacket guarantees an exact fit, whereby normal tolerance deviations of the perforated brick are compensated for. To change a used sleeve, it only needs to be pulled out of the perforated brick and a new sleeve inserted in its place. Considerable labor savings are achieved by largely eliminating the cleaning work; by shortening the exchange time, the availability of the pan increases at the same time, which increases the economic importance of the sleeve arrangement according to the invention by the mere saving of material and time when inserting and replacing the sleeve. The advantages achieved with the invention are particularly noticeable in the case of basin-fed pans, but also in all other types of pan delivery.

According to a further feature of the invention, a good and firm connection of the sheet metal jacket to the perforated brick can be guaranteed in that the sheet metal jacket is permanently fixed in the opening of the perforated brick with a mortar having a low sintering temperature.

If the sheet metal jacket has a material thickness in the range between 0.6 and 1 mm, preferably around 0.8 mm, an extraordinarily precise fit of the sleeve is ensured while normal tolerance deviations of the perforated brick are compensated for.

The sheet metal jacket should be made with a tolerance of about 0.1 mm.

If the tolerance of the outer dimensions of the sleeve and the opening of the perforated brick is approximately 0.5 mm, an almost 100% accurate fit of each sleeve can be achieved.

In order to make it easier to pull out the sleeve after use, it is further proposed within the scope of a further development of the invention to coat the outer surface of the sleeve with a water glass graphite clip.

An adapter for a pull-out device at the outer end of the sleeve means that the sleeve can be changed quickly and cleanly.

Further objectives, features, advantages and possible uses of the present invention result from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawing. All of the described and / or illustrated features, alone or in any meaningful combination, form the subject matter of the present invention, regardless of how they are summarized in the claims or their relationship.

The single figure illustrates in vertical section an embodiment of a sleeve arrangement having the invention.

The sleeve arrangement 1 consists essentially of a sleeve 2 and a perforated brick 6. The sleeve 2 has a flow channel 7 concentric with the central longitudinal axis for blowing in gases or solids. The sleeve 2 is frustoconical on the outside. An opening 8 of the perforated brick 6, into which the sleeve 2 is to be inserted, is correspondingly conical. According to the invention, the conical lateral surface 9 of the sleeve 2 and the conical inner surface of the opening 8 of the perforated brick 6 have a slope of exactly or essentially 5 °, the tapered part of the sleeve 2 pointing towards the interior of the molten metal pan, the wall of the perforated brick 6 being a component . A sheet metal jacket 4 of low material thickness is inserted into the opening 8. The sheet metal jacket 4 has the same slope or conicity as the inner surface 10 of the opening 8 of the perforated brick 6 and the lateral surface 9 of the sleeve 2. The sheet metal jacket 4 is permanently fixed in the opening of the perforated brick 6 with a mortar 3 of low sintering temperature. To facilitate the replacement of the sleeve 2, the latter has an adapter 5 on the end face of its expanded outer end for the engagement of a pull-out device. The adapter 5 is arranged concentrically to the flow channel 7 in the case shown and delimits part of the same. The insertion and extraction movement of the sleeve 2 is illustrated in the drawing with a double arrow.

Tests have shown that the normal changeover time can be reduced from about 30 minutes to 10 minutes, ie by 200%, using the sleeve arrangement according to the invention. In addition, the practical safety of the sleeve arrangement according to the invention has been confirmed: no steel infiltration was found during testing on a 270t pan.
