Abstract

1. Wishbone boom for a sailing boat, particularly for a sail or windsurfer, consisting of wishbones being connected with each other at one end-side, of a wisbone head (10) which encompasses a mast (30), can be squeezed against it and consists of two clip halves one of which is each attached to the other end-side of the wishbone, and of a locking device (40), characterized in that both clip halves (13, 14) are continuously and completely separated from each other along the middle axis of the wishbone boom and that the locking together of the two clip halves (13, 14) with the help of the locking device (40) causes the squeezing of the wishbone boom head (10) to the mast (30).

Description

The invention relates to a boom for a sailing vehicle of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.

The fork boom with its outwardly bent forks is usually attached to the mast of the sail or windsurfer with the help of a so-called mast mast, which is tied around the mast and the boom head. The free end of the mast tamping is fixed in a so-called slip clamp on one of the forks after securing the boom and secured by a knot.

A reliable and permanent connection of the boom to the mast with the help of a tamp requires a high degree of skill, material knowledge and strength. Especially inexperienced windsurfers rarely succeed in creating a permanent, firm connection with the help of a tampon. Either the connection is too loose from the start, or a connection that is initially quite firm loosens during the course of surfing because the rope gives in under the load and the fork boom loosens, even if the rope has been watered beforehand. Because the boom connection loosens during the course of surfing, the belly in the sail is enlarged and the sail needs to be trimmed. As a result of the loosening of the connection, the vertical play of the forks also increases and the boom gains play about its longitudinal axis, which makes exact sailing difficult. In addition, the mast is heavily stressed by the tilting play of the boom and is permanently damaged. Finally, the inadequate connection of the boom to the mast will be loosened to such an extent that the boom will slide along the mast when catching up on the sail and a new connection of the tamping and a new trimming of the sail will be necessary.

Since the entire pressure of the sail stretched by the wind also lies on the mast, there is always the risk that the rope breaks. Since a sailor or windsurfer is not able to sail without a mast-boom connection, there is a risk. that the surfer gets into distress with his board, since even if a spare rope is carried, the establishment of a mast-boom connection in strong winds and seas is extremely difficult and often unsuccessful. Another disadvantage of the rope connection is that it can be extremely difficult to solve under certain circumstances. Especially when the connection has loosened in the course of surfing, there has been so much pull on the terminating node that it can no longer be released. This problem also arises in the case of a poorly holding document clamp.

In another type of attachment of the boom to the mast, a plastic sleeve is slid onto the mast and secured at the level of the boom to be connected with the aid of a tool. A hook is attached to this sleeve, in which the boom is hung with its head.

The main problem with this hook connection is that the boom has so much play around its longitudinal axis. that exact sailing is at least very difficult. This tilting of the boom also stresses the mast. Finally, it should also be taken into account that the entire load due to the pressure of the sail and the tilting of the boom is on the hook. The risk of the hook breaking is correspondingly high. A tool is always required to adjust the height of the boom on the mast.

From the German patent application DE-A-28 55 556 a boom is known, which consists of forks connected to each other at both end sides, which have a boom head, which is essentially designed as an axially divided, clamp-like component that encompasses the mast in this is essentially frictionally clamped. The two halves of the front boom fitting are in their, in the direction of travel of the windsurfers, located in front of the mast articulated with each other by a hinge pin, so that by opening the lock located on the rear boom fitting the front boom fitting spread and thus led around the mast and on this can be moved. By closing the lock, the two halves of the front boom fitting are pressed against the mast.

A disadvantage of this known boom is, however, that, as shown above, even with a slight adjustment of the boom height, as is necessary to adapt to other sailing or wind conditions, the rear lock must be opened. However, this is in a rigged state, i.e. H. when the sail is tensioned, not possible because the trim sheet for tensioning the sail is attached to the rear boom fitting, which is formed here by the locking mechanism. Therefore, the trim sheet for moving the boom must at least be loosened. Tensioning the sail again is very tedious and time-consuming, especially on the water in strong winds and waves.

The strength of the mast-boom connection is also dependent on the diameter of the mast used, i.e. that is, lower holding forces occur with a thinner mast than with a thicker mast. This should also be taken into account when adjusting the height of the boom on the mast, since conical masts are generally used.

Another disadvantage of the known boom is that a pure shear on the hinge pin stress acts so that there is a high susceptibility to breakage of the front boom fitting. In the event of damage, this inevitably leads to the sailing surfer's inability to maneuver.

Another device for holding the boom is finally known from international patent application WO 82/04425, in which the front boom fitting has pressing surfaces which, when the boom is attached to the mast, lie on the side of the mast facing the luff of the sail. Due to the tensile forces generated in the sail by the trim sheet, the pressure surfaces are pressed firmly against the side of the mast facing the luff of the sail. The boom is therefore held directly by the sail pressure on the mast without any further connection. If the pressing surfaces are provided on intermeshing, finger-shaped tines, which grip the mast on the rear from both sides, the front boom fitting can be divided.

A disadvantage of the mast-boom connection described above is that the positive connection is only effective when the sail tension is very strong. However, if the boom is expanded by the weight of the surfer, i.e. H. the distance boom head - rear boom fitting is shortened or a lower sail tension is used in light wind, the pulling force of the sail on the mast-boom connection is reduced, so that a safe coupling is no longer guaranteed.

With this boom fitting it is also necessary to at least loosen the trim sheet when adjusting the boom height on the mast.

Based on this prior art, it is an object of the present invention to provide a boom that can be quickly, easily and securely attached and detached by anyone on the mast, is infinitely adjustable in height, and which in particular enables adjustment of the boom in a rigged state without loosening the trim sheet attached to the rear boom fitting.

This object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing part of claim 1.

The clamp connection of the boom to the sailing vehicle according to the invention ensures a permanent and absolutely secure fit of the boom on the mast, which does not loosen even during prolonged surfing. Since this connection does not require a great deal of effort or special skill, it can also be handled safely by everyone.

Because of the reliable connection, the maneuverability of the sail or wind surfer is significantly improved, which significantly increases the safety when operating this sail vehicle, especially in strong winds and seas. There is also no need to re-trim the sail due to the loosened mast-boom connection. In addition, the clamp connection has the advantage that the mast is protected because the boom is absolutely tilt-proof on the mast. This significantly reduces the risk of the mast breaking.

Last but not least, the entire construction, modification and dismantling of the surfing device is decisively facilitated and shortened by the use of the boom according to the invention. Another advantage of the clamp connection is that the height of the boom can be easily, quickly and precisely moved and fixed again.

The firm and at the same time gentle contact of the boom head to the mast can be further increased by lining the inner surface of the clamp with an adhesive coating, especially with adhesive rubber.

A particularly advantageous embodiment of the boom according to the invention provides for the use of a quick-action lock for the boom head designed as a clamp. This quick release fastener is designed so that with its help the two clamp halves can be connected to the mast without using a tool. On the other hand, the two clamp halves can be completely separated from one another when the quick-action lock is released, so that the boom can be removed from or attached to the mast in a simple manner.

While in the exemplary embodiment just mentioned, the boom is to be opened completely on the mast side, in a further advantageous embodiment it is provided that the boom is opened and closed at the rear connecting piece. For this purpose, the two clamp halves of the boom head via a swivel connection, for. B. a hinge, articulated and the eighth, separable fork connection fitting is equipped with a quick release. When the aft quick-release fastener is connected, the boom head is clamped to the mast at the same time. The great advantage of the aft quick-release fastener is the leverage effect of the two relatively long forks on the two clamp halves to be closed on the mast.

The inner clamp surface can, for example, have a square cross-section, as a result of which these clamp surfaces are coupled tangentially to the mast. Advantageously, however, the inner surface of the clamp is circular-cylindrical in such a way that the diameter of the inner surface of the clamp essentially corresponds to the outer diameter of the mast. The circular cylindrical design of the inner surface of the clamp results in the best and most gentle coupling of the boom to the mast by means of the clamp-shaped boom head.

For better guidance of the clamp, it is provided, above all when the closing process is carried out aft, that the two clamp halves are grooved in the area of the clamp separating surface to provide fold-like rear grips.

The boom head according to the invention is also ideal for converting conventional booms with rope or hook connection to the mast. For this purpose, only the original boom head has to be removed and the two forks have to be inserted and fastened in mounting holes of the clamp boom head or in corresponding adapter tubes that are attached to the head.

  • Fig. 1 einen erfindungsgemäßen Gabelbaum in Aufsicht ;
  • Fig. 3 eine Seitenansicht des Gabelbaumkopfes von Fig. 2.
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to a drawing; in the drawing shows:
  • Figure 1 shows a boom according to the invention in supervision.
  • Fig. 2 the boom head of the boom of Fig. 1 in supervision and
  • 3 shows a side view of the boom head from FIG. 2.

Achtern sind die Gabelenden 24 und 25 durch einen Verbindungsbeschlag 50 miteinander verbunden, während die vorderen Gabelenden 22 und 23 jeweils in einer Schellenhälfte 13 und 14 des als Schelle ausgebildeten Gabelbaumkopfes befestigt sind.1 shows a complete boom for a sailing or windsurfer, which consists of two forks 20 and 21 which are characteristic of this type of sailing vehicle. Aft, the fork ends 24 and 25 are connected to one another by a connecting fitting 50, while the front fork ends 22 and 23 are each fastened in a clamp half 13 and 14 of the boom head designed as a clamp.

This designed as a clamp boom head 10 consists of a tensile and compressive plastic material or a metal alloy, in particular aluminum alloy and has 13 and 14 holes in each clamp half, which run essentially in the -clamp plane and into which the two fork ends 22 and 23 are inserted. The fork ends 22 and 23 are clamped in the boom head 10 by screws, not shown.

The two clamp halves 13 and 14 expanded to accommodate the fork ends 22 and 23 are moved apart from one another by bending the elastic fork tubes 20 and 21 to such an extent that the split fork head 10 can be plugged onto the mast 30. The eighth connecting fitting 50 can, however, also be designed in a split manner, the two fitting parts being guided together by a hinge, the pivot axis of which runs essentially perpendicular to the fork plane. By this measure, the two-part boom head 10 can be opened without any effort and hinged to the mast.

The axially split boom head clamp has an inner surface 12 which is essentially circular-cylindrical and the diameter of which essentially corresponds to the outer diameter of the mast 30. The inner surface 12 of the clamp is additionally lined with an adhesive covering 15, which consists for example of an adhesive rubber. This adhesive rubber is used for the gentle coupling of the inner clamp surface 12 to the mast 30. The clamp 30, which surrounds the mast 30 with its two halves 13 and 14, is provided with a quick-release fastener 40, with which the two clamp halves 13 and 14 can be immovably coupled to the mast 30, and which is inserted in the clamp so that it can be removed from the mast 30 when the quick-action fastener 40 is open. The quick-action lock 40 can be designed in a known manner as a bayonet or as a locking pin lock. In the embodiment shown in the figures, the quick-action fastener consists of a simple screw connection, which is provided in the two halves of the clamp opposite the fork connection.

In one clamp half 13 a hole for a wing head screw 41 is made, which is substantially perpendicular to the clamp separating surface and is extended towards the outer edge of the clamp. This widening or recess 19 in the clamp half 13 serves to completely accommodate the head of the wing screw 41 and to make the wing head screw accessible for easy handling.

In the opposite clamp half 14, a corresponding threaded bore 42 is made, into which the wing screw 41 can be screwed to clamp the clamp to the mast 30.

Also in the front, cheek-widened clamp end, a bore 18 is made in the clamp half 14 for a starting sheet.

At the fork-side clamp end, in the area of the clamp trinus surface in the two clamp halves 13 and 14, a groove-like or rebate-like undercut 16, 17 is provided for better guidance of the clamp halves when connecting to the mast 30 or for stabilizing the clamp clamp half connection thereby achieved. Instead of the fully separable boom shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the two clamp halves 13 and 14 of the boom head 10 can be pivoted together and the boom can be opened at the rear end by a two-part fork connection fitting 50. This aft separable boom is placed with the forks 20 and 21 pivoted around the mast 30 and the clamp 40 is clamped to the mast 30 in that the aft fork connection fitting 50 is closed and locked. For this purpose, the eighth fork connection fitting 50 is provided with a quick release lock. The advantage of this embodiment is obvious and is that the two fork arms 20 and 21 serve as lever arms, which favorably clamps the boom head clamp 40 on the mast, so that this boom can be easily connected to the mast by anyone.
