Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for fastening a window or door frame to a wall or to another part of a building according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a device is known from British patent application GB-A-21 23513.
- the conventional device consists of a threaded sleeve with a section provided with an external thread, an external thread and an internal thread and a plastic bushing, which is pressed into a central bore on the wall of the threaded sleeve and through which an anchoring screw is passed.
- the known device replaces the traditional way of setting up window or door frames in a masonry opening with the aid of washer parts etc., but has a number of disadvantages.
- the anchoring screw is still attached to the masonry using dowels.
- the known sleeve consists of two parts, namely the actual threaded sleeve and a plastic bushing, which is pressed into the former with an additional assembly step.
- the frame is held with the aid of an anchoring screw in such a way that the anchoring screw acts only on the plastic bushing, which in turn holds the threaded bushing without having a form-fitting fit. With an appropriate torque, an angle is formed between the inner sleeve shoulder and the screw head, but it cannot be shaped in a controlled manner because it is not visible. It also pivots when the screw is loosened or the material ages.
- the known device is therefore not only complex to manufacture and pre-assemble, but also sensitive to errors caused by carelessness.
- the screw is only held on the sleeve by positive locking.
- the known device is adjusted either via an internal hexagon or alternatively via an external hexagon.
- the external hex is in tight spaces, i.e. a narrow gap between the window frame and masonry is difficult to access because it is not arranged at the outer end of the device.
- the invention has for its object to provide a device for fastening a window or door frame to a wall, which avoids the disadvantages of the known device, is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and easy and safe to assemble.
- the wall anchor screw serves directly and exclusively for fastening the threaded sleeve.
- the frame is held exclusively by the threaded sleeve.
- the threaded sleeve is screwed into a hole in the frame part. Through holes of this type are usually already introduced during frame production. They are usually about 10 mm in diameter.
- the threaded sleeve which has a self-tapping thread, is either attached at the factory or, for example, at the construction site. In addition, retrofitting is also possible without factory preparation. Screwing the threaded sleeve into the bore without a prepared thread is particularly useful if the component, e.g. the window frame is made exclusively of wood or plastic (PVC).
- the screw head can also be located on the inside of the frame in narrow-edged casings.
- the threaded sleeve After mounting the frame, the threaded sleeve is supported on the mounting surface. Since, as already mentioned, only the threaded sleeve is attached to the wall with the aid of an anchoring screw, the threaded sleeve can be rotated in the bore relative to the anchoring screw. When the threaded sleeve is twisted, the distance between the frame and the mounting surface naturally changes. If a frame with several threaded sleeves is fixed within the masonry opening, the frame can be easily and precisely aligned in the masonry opening by turning the threaded sleeves. The threaded sleeve can be rotated either by grasping its part which is out of the frame or its part which is in the frame. It is therefore also possible to make an exact alignment if there are difficult or inaccessible places. In addition to smoothing out dimensional differences between the frame and the masonry, there are other advantages.
- the threaded sleeves can serve as a gauge for drilling in masonry.
- the screw-in depth of the anchoring screw in the masonry remains constant and can be adapted to the material requirements if necessary, depending on whether concrete, lattice brick, gas concrete or other building materials are available. Because of the constant screw depth, the pull-out strength is also constant. The length of the anchor screw can therefore be minimized.
- the threaded sleeve is made of plastic. This offers the advantage of simple and inexpensive mass production.
- the threaded sleeve has no external hexagon and thus the external thread extends continuously over the entire length of the threaded sleeve.
- the threaded sleeve is adjusted from the inside via a hexagon socket which extends over part of the length or, in a further embodiment of the invention, over the entire length of the threaded sleeve.
- the threaded sleeve can be screwed into the hole in the frame using a suitable screwdriver and an attachment tool in the form of a hexagon wrench.
- the threaded sleeve can be rotated after it is supported on the attachment surface by inserting the hexagon key into the frame bore.
- a tapping sleeve can be attached to the hexagon wrench in order to form a thread in the hole in the frame and screw in the threaded sleeve.
- the screw is a wall anchor screw. It must be supported axially. According to the invention, it is supported on the inner end of the threaded sleeve.
- the counter surface of the screw is formed by the underside of the screw head, which has a conical section. In the case of a relatively elastic plastic sleeve, this is elastically prestressed in the end position of the screw. This ensures security against loosening of the screw, which can be caused by changing loads, e.g. Vibration on the window frame could be caused.
- the wall anchor screw expediently has a sharp-edged first thread on the shaft and a second thread arranged between the windings of the first thread at a distance from this, the first thread having a larger tip diameter than the second thread. Notches can be formed in the tip of at least a plurality of the first turns of the first thread adjacent to the entry end of the screws, the tip diameter of the second thread essentially corresponding to the diameter of the predrilled hole into which the screw can be inserted.
- the device according to the invention is not restricted to a specific material for the window or door frame, for which e.g. Wood, aluminum, PVC, etc. can be used.
- a window frame 10 which, as can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3 and 5 and 6, can be a plastic profile with a steel reinforcement 11, is fastened in a wall opening 12.
- the attachment points are designated 13.
- the wall opening 12 and frame 10 are rectangular, but the frame 10 is arranged in an inclined position relative to the opening 12. This is often the case because the opening walls are not exactly horizontal or vertical. As a result, the distance between the frame and the opening walls is very different.
- precautions must therefore be taken to align the frame 10 and to hold it in the aligned position. This is done with the fastening device shown in Figures 2 to 6.
- FIG. 4 shows a threaded sleeve 14 made of plastic, which has a self-tapping thread 15 on the outside.
- An external hexagon 16 is formed at one end, the maximum diameter of which corresponds to the thread diameter.
- An internal hexagon 17 is formed within the hexagon 16.
- the threaded sleeve 14 is slightly chamfered at 18.
- the frame 10 is provided with through holes 19 at the fastening points 13. They are usually molded at the factory. However, they can also be made on site. With the aid of a screwing tool 20, the head 21 of which is shown schematically and in which a hexagon wrench 22 is clamped, the threaded sleeve 14 is screwed into the through hole 19. The drive can be done by hand or by motor.
- the hexagon key 22 is preferably so long that it passes through the through hole 19. In this way, the threaded sleeve 14 is screwed into the through hole 19 in the correct position.
- the inner end lies within the frame part. Are all threaded sleeves 14 screwed into the frame 10 in the manner described, the frame 10 is upright in the wall opening 12 ge poses.
- the frame 10 can be precisely aligned in the opening 12 by rotating the individual threaded sleeves 14.
- the frame 10 is firmly clamped in the opening 12 with the aid of the threaded sleeves 14.
- the threaded sleeve 14 can also be rotated via the external hexagon 16.
- a hole 23 is then drilled in the masonry 24 using a suitable drilling tool.
- the threaded sleeve 14 serves as a teaching, so that a correct and aligned bore 23 is guaranteed.
- a wall anchor 25 is inserted from the inside through the through hole 19 and into the threaded sleeve 14.
- the head 26 of the wall anchor 25 has e.g. also a hexagon socket.
- the wall anchor is screwed into the bore 23 until its head 26 rests firmly against the associated end of the threaded sleeve 14.
- the outside of the through hole 19 is closed with the aid of a plastic cap 27, which holds itself.
- the distance of the frame 10 from the masonry 24 can be different. In Fig. 5 it is designated X and in Fig. 6 with Y. Regardless of these distances, the frame 10 can be aligned and held securely and stably in the opening 12.
- the anchor screw 25 expediently has a so-called high-low thread, i.e. a first thread which digs into the wall of the bore 23 and a second thread which cooperates with the center of the bore wall.
- a so-called high-low thread i.e. a first thread which digs into the wall of the bore 23 and a second thread which cooperates with the center of the bore wall.
- notches are formed in particular in the vicinity of the shaft tip, which ensure more effective insertion of the wall anchor 25 and a secure hold.
- the threaded sleeve 14 is formed from plastic.
- a matching thread is cut in one operation when the threaded sleeve is screwed in by a thread cutter 30 provided on the hexagonal rod 22 (generally a rod with a polygonal cross section).
- the thread cutter 30 is preferably formed by a threading zone formed in one piece on the hexagonal rod 22; this results in high strength and easy handling.
- the thread cutter 30 can also be designed as a separate tool element, for example as a thread cutting sleeve which has an axial passage matching the hexagon rod 22 and is fastened on the hexagon rod 22, for example by means of a countersunk locking screw.
- the position of the thread cutter 30 on the hexagonal rod 22 can be chosen as desired.
- the distance between the tap 30 and the sleeve 14 is dimensioned such that the sleeve 14 is still screwed to the component 10 when screwing in if the tap 30 has already emerged from the component 10; then the hexagonal rod 22 with the thread cutter 30 located thereon can be released from the head 21 of the tool 20 and pulled off to the right in the sense of the figures.
- the hexagonal rod 22 expediently projects so far beyond the threaded sleeve 30 that guidance is already provided in the first bore through the second bore 19 during thread cutting.
- the threaded sleeve 14 is partially cut.
- An external hexagon is not provided at the left end, rather the external thread extends to the slightly conical end.
- the head 26 of the anchor screw 25 has a conical section which is designed such that it slightly widens the associated end of the threaded sleeve 14. In the end position, the head 24 lies firmly against the end of the tapping sleeve. Since this is made of plastic material, it can therefore be placed under an elastic pretension, which contributes to securing the screw 25.
