A door operating bar according to Claim 1, characterised in that the aperture (6, 13), communicating with the interior (18) of the bar member (2) of tubular cross-section, is either a through hole (6) formed in the exposed face (5), or a free space (13) situated between the edges (14, 15) of two inturned edge portions (11, 12) of two parallel wings (9, 10) of the exposed face (5), of the bar member (2) of tubular cross-section, and that the indicating element (16) and/or the protective member (17) is or are slidably engaged with the interior of the bar member (2) of tubular cross-section and locked in position by the end members (3, 4, 44), the latter having a support foot (23, 24), holding the indicating element (16) and/or the protective member (17) either against the inner wall (19) of the exposed face (5), or against the inner wall (20) of the inturned edge portions (11, 12) of the bar member (2) of tubular cross-section, and a shoulder (27, 28) abutting against the ends of the indicating element (16) and/or the protective member (17).
