Abstract

A device for binding holed sheets or a ring book fastener includes a binding cover elastically supported by supporting elements and receiving a plurality of rings spaced from each other along the axis of the binding cover and connected thereto. Each ring is comprised of two ring halves which are releasably engageable with each other. Each ring half is provided at the end thereof cooperating with the end of the other ring half with a tooth-shaped projection engageable in a tooth gap-shaped recess of the other ring half so as to produce a lock preventing a displacement of the ring halves in the closed position in the direction transverse to the closing direction.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for lining up perforated sheets, consisting of a resilient mechanical cover which can be connected to a book-shaped cover, resiliently supported supporting parts in the mechanical cover, and at least two ring parts made of metal wire and each consisting of two ring halves, the ring halves of each ring part on the one hand are fastened to the supporting parts and are provided at their other ends, which are adjacent to one another in the closed position, with intermeshing formations running in two different axial directions, the intermeshing formations of the ring halves being designed as toothings with flat surfaces lying against one another in the closed position, whereby one ring half is provided with a tooth-gap-like depression and a tooth-like projection running in a different axial direction, while the other half of the ring is equipped with a correspondingly offset recess and a correspondingly offset projection.

A device of the aforementioned type is known from US-A 21 19 639.

The device shown and described there is provided with teeth in the region of the ends of the ring halves lying against one another in the closed position, the shape of which is characterized by wedge-shaped notches. These notches are worked into the ends of the ring halves in such a way that their base lines form an acute angle to the axis of the ring halves and converge at a point which is in a position offset from the outer or from the free end of each ring half with the axis of the respective one Half of the ring covers. The inside of the toothing thus contains four essentially triangular and flat surfaces. When the ring halves are joined together, the flat surfaces bring about that in the event of a displacement of the two ring halves ends within normal limits, the mutual guiding action of the surfaces aligns the ring halves ends, the spring tension which brings the ring halves to close for this purpose should be sufficient.

From FR-A 478 925 or DE-C 350 693, for example, there are also devices for lining up perforations Scroll known, in which the displacement of the respective cooperating ring halves against each other and transverse to the closing direction is prevented. In such constructions, a vertically projecting pin is provided on one end of a ring half and a cylindrical bore is provided on the other half of the ring, into which the pin of the other ring half engages in the closed position.

The above-mentioned construction with protruding spigots on the one hand and bores on the other hand has the disadvantage of relatively complex machining methods, since ultimately the spigot and the corresponding bores can only be made with machining methods.

The design of the ends of the ring halves according to US-A-21 19 639 requires machining methods, since in the closed state the connection area between the two ring halves should be free of projections or edges, that is, there should be a smooth and continuous shape in the connection area be. This necessarily requires an exact machining of the two ring halves.

The present invention has for its object to improve a device of the generic type in such a way that a displacement of the ring halves cooperating in the closed position is prevented transversely to the closing direction and that the necessary deformations of the relevant ends of the ring halves can be carried out with simple manufacturing techniques.

The solution to this problem is that the flat surfaces of the toothing lying against one another in the closed position run parallel or minimal deviations due to non-cutting shape almost parallel to the closing direction of the two ring halves.

The invention has the advantage that the interlocking interlocking teeth in the sense of the invention can be produced with simple, manufacturing-technical means, in particular the ring halves can be designed in the manner indicated by non-cutting shaping. This results in a considerable simplification of production compared to the known prior art, without the desired effect, namely to prevent displacement of the respective ring halves against each other and transversely to the closing direction, is adversely affected.

In Fig. 1, a complete device for lining up perforated sheets is shown in perspective view and overall provided with the reference numeral 10. Such a device is also generally referred to as ring binder mechanism.

The device 10 consists essentially of a resilient mechanical cover 11, therein resiliently supported support parts 12 and a plurality of ring parts 13, each ring part 13 in turn consisting of two ring halves 13a and 13b. Each ring half 13a and 13b is attached at one end to a support part 12. In the closed state, the two ring halves 13a and 13b form a closed ring.

The ring halves 13a and 13b are each made of metal wire.

In order to line up perforated sheets on the device shown completely in FIG. 1, it is first necessary to open the respective ring parts 13. This is made possible by the attachment of the respective ring halves 13a and 13b to the supporting parts 12 which are spring-supported in the mechanical cover 11. In the open state, perforated sheets can be lined up on the ring halves 13b; if this has been done, closing the ring parts 13 prevents the lined up sheets from being inadvertently removed. Due to the ring-shaped design, it is also possible without further ado to turn the lined sheets completely with the ring parts 13 closed and also to move them back into the starting position.

In order to prevent the ring halves 13a and 13b of the ring parts 13 from being displaced transversely to the closing direction in the closed position, the ends of the respective ring halves 13a and 13b are designed in a special way.

Der zahnartige Vorsprung 15 liegt im mittleren Bereich der Vertiefung 14.In the exemplary embodiment of the innovation according to FIGS. 2 and 4 to 9, the ring half 13a is equipped with a tooth-like recess 14 and a tooth-like projection 15 running at right angles thereto. The tooth-like projection 15 lies in the middle region of the depression 14.

The opposite end of the ring half 13b is provided with a tooth-like projection 16 and a corresponding tooth-gap-like recess 17 which is offset by 90 o from the formation of the ring half 13a, so that in the closed state there is a positive connection between the two ends of the ring halves 13a and 13b, which reliably prevents a displacement transverse to the closing direction of the two ring halves 13a and 13b.

The deformations of the two ends of the ring halves 13a and 13b can be carried out without cutting, for example by punching processes.

In the exemplary embodiment of the innovation according to FIGS. 3 and 10 to 15, the ring half 13a is again equipped with a tooth gap-like depression 14. At right angles to this, the end of the ring half 13a has tooth-like projections 15 which are offset from one another on both sides of an imaginary axis running at right angles to the central axis of the recess 14.

The end of the ring half 13b is equipped with a tooth-like projection 16 which engages in the recess 14 of the other ring half 13a. Furthermore, the ring half 13b has two in its end region corresponding to the projections 15 of the other ring half 13a Wells 17 on. The projections 15 of the ring half 13a engage in the recesses 17 of the ring half 13b in the closed position. With this construction too, it is no longer possible to move the ring halves 13a and 13b in the closed position transversely to the closing direction. In addition, the projections 15 and 16 and the depressions 14 and 17 can be attached by non-cutting shaping.
