Description

The invention relates to a tennis racket with a frame formed from bars, the free ends of which are angled or bent to form a handle, in which at least one damping element is inserted and held in position between the free ends of the bars in the handle area. Tennis rackets of this type, which are bent, for example, from aluminum profiles, have a handle at their free ends, which is completed, for example, by foaming a handle and / or wrapping it with a grip tape. In tennis racquets, it is also already known to make the handle hollow and to guide a weight displaceably within the handle in order to be able to influence the shift in weight within the racket.

Especially with metal rackets, there is now often the problem that the vibrations of the frame triggered by the impacting ball are transferred to the handle in an unpleasant manner and often cause the so-called tennis arm. In the outlet area of the covering towards the handle, heart pieces of different construction have been installed, which are intended to dampen these vibrations to a certain extent, so that the vibrations are not introduced directly into the wrist.

Tennis rackets of the type mentioned at the outset can be found, for example, in US Pat. No. 3,206,204. In this known construction, handle scales with webs are provided, a damping effect being attributed to these webs. The free frame spars are directly connected by tapes and the webs, which are said to have a damping property, are primarily used to fix the grip panels. A targeted influencing of the damping properties does not appear to be possible with such a construction, since these webs are in through the fastening speed characteristics of the handle shell must be provided at certain distances in order to avoid deformation of the handle shell. In particular, these are stiffening ribs on the grip shell.

In order to influence the damping properties in a targeted manner, it has already become known to use oscillating bodies in the handle part with an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle part. Such a training, as can be seen, for example, from DE-AS 23 38 534, aims to achieve an interference with the vibration resulting from the ball impact by free vibration of the vibrating body, and in this way damping enable. In the case of a free-swinging damping body, extremely complex guidance is required, the damping body not being able to be guided directly through the frame spars, since it could then no longer act as a free-swinging resonator.

The invention now aims to provide a simple design of the type mentioned at the beginning, with which the damping behavior can be set within wide limits. Above all, the assembly of the handle area should be significantly simplified. To achieve this object, the invention essentially consists in the fact that the clear spacing of the frame spars normal to the frame spars damping elements in the longitudinal direction of the frame spars are adjustable and can be fixed in the selected position. Characterized in that the damping elements the clearance of the R mimic struts normal to the same are to be bridged, damping elements having the corresponding strength and damping properties can be brought by displacement between the frame beams in the appropriate position, wherein the subsequent determination by bonding with handles, by foaming a handle shells having grip area, by gluing or by interposed Spacers that have only low damping properties can be ensured. The desired position of the damping elements can thus be determined in a simple manner and, once the grip area has been completed, a grip area which is matched to the vibration properties of the racket is achieved immediately. Different damping elements of different quantities and made of different materials can be used, different damping elements of this type being able to be arranged adjacent to one another in the longitudinal direction of the handle area or the frame bars in the handle area. The damping behavior can also be set within wide limits in this way.

According to a preferred embodiment of the tennis racket according to the invention, the design is such that a plurality of damping elements are arranged next to one another in the longitudinal direction of the frame bars in the grip area, it being possible for different materials to be connected to one another in the axial direction. A particularly simple possibility for assembly results if the design is such that at least two damping elements are arranged in at least one cross-sectional plane of the handle area, which are inserted between the frame spars and bridge the clear distance between the frame spars.

Compared to the design of damping frogs, it is possible, for example, to use porous or foam structure elements as damping elements, since the damping elements can be protected in this area by the subsequent attachment of the handle. Above all, however, it is already possible during production to control the damping behavior more precisely by means of suitable positioning of different damping elements. Such a design allows starting from a given one Damping to take into account the specific needs of the individual player.

In a particularly simple manner, the damping elements are designed in such a way that they completely fill the clear cross-section between the bars in the grip area, and recesses can be provided to save weight. Such a design makes it possible to wind a grip tape for forming a grip directly over the unit consisting of the two free ends and the damping element or the damping elements, only one closure plate having to be attached. However, the damping elements can also be connected to grip shells, such grip shells being formed in one piece, and then being pushed onto the free ends of the angled or bent spars from below. However, half-shells can also be used, which are then attached laterally to the handle ends and, in combination, result in a complete encapsulation and damping fixing of the handle ends. Such half-shells are subsequently held in position by the grip tape wound around the outside or held together by gluing or form-fitting engagement of the two half-shells with one another while simultaneously gripping the damping elements in a form-fitting manner. In such designs, it is particularly advantageous if the damping elements are formed in one piece with grip shells, and in the case of using two half shells, which are supplemented to form a grip, the damping elements, which are intended to bridge the clear cross section between the two ends, are divided in half one half shell and half can be connected to the other half shell. Such half-shells can be equipped with damping elements in predetermined positions, wherein different half-shells can be used to achieve different damping properties. In a particularly simple way, the training in one provide such cases that one of the two half-shells carries damping elements offset from the damping elements of the other half-shell made of different materials, so that when plugging together there is a positive engagement of the two shells due to the positive engagement of the damping elements of the two half-shells.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing. In this Fig.l show a tennis racket with the grip tape removed; 2 shows an enlarged view of a modified handle, also with the grip tape removed; 3 shows a section along the line III-III of Figure 2; 4 shows a further training in an analogous representation as Figure 2; 5 shows a section along the line V-V of Figure 4; 6 shows a further modification in the illustration according to FIG. 2; 7 shows a section along the line VII-VII of Figure 6; 8 shows an embodiment with a grip shell; 9 shows a section along line IX-IX of Figure 8; 10 shows a modified design of a grip shell and FIG. 11 shows a grip half shell with an integral damping element.

In Fig.l the racket is designated 1. The spars forming the frame are bent outwards at 2 and form the handle with their free ends 3. A centerpiece 4 is provided in the area of the bend or bend 2. The covering of the frame is designated 5. Damping elements 6 are arranged between the free ends of the frame. The handle is held together by an end piece 7 and subsequently wrapped with a non-illustrated grip tape.

In the embodiment according to Figure 2, a damping element 8 is arranged between the two ends 3 of the spars, which, as from 3 shows, the free cross section between the ends 3 completely fills. In contrast, in the illustration according to FIG. 4, the damping element 9 is divided in the longitudinal direction of the handle and is advantageously designed in the manner of a slide so that it can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the handle and can then be fixed in the selected position. In addition, a plurality of damping elements 9 can be arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction (arrow 11) of the bars 3. Opposing sections of these damping elements can, as can be seen from FIG. 5, be separated by a common center line 10, so that opposite sections can also be arranged in a staggered position in the longitudinal direction of the handle, which is indicated in FIG. 4 by the double arrow 11.

Zur Gewichtseinsparung sind in den Dämpfungselementen 12 Ausnehmungen 16 quer zu den Holmen 3 angeordnet, die in Fig.7 strichliert angedeutet sind.6 and 7, the damping element 12 bridges the full width a between the opposite ends 3, which form the handle, but they do not fill the cross section to the edge. Such a training, as illustrated by the corresponding FIG. 7, must be supplemented by a grip tape to form a complete handle, wherein shells can also be used to form the handle part. To save weight, 12 recesses 16 are arranged transversely to the bars 3 in the damping elements, which are indicated by dashed lines in FIG.

A special shell construction is shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, in which half-shells 13 are used, which are attached to the free ends 3, for example, in a configuration according to FIGS. 2 and 3. A modified design of such half-shells 13 can be seen in FIG. Here, the damping element 14 can be glued to such half-shells, so that the assembly is simplified.

bei der Ausbildung nach Fig.ll ist das Dämpfungselement einstückig mit einer Halbschale 15 ausgebildet und umgreift jeweils die Endbereiche 3 der Holme, welche der Ausbildung des Griffes dienen.in the embodiment according to Fig.ll, the damping element is integrally formed with a half-shell 15 and engages around the end regions 3 of the spars, which serve to form the handle.
