Claims (7)

1. Pay-off reel in which the material (2), essentially wound in the form of a coil (18), is to be removed from a reel body (1) rotating about a vertical axis, to supply a processing machine which takes up the material intermittently, while in the vicinity of the reel body (1) but mounted separately from it is a draw-off unit (3) located in the path of the uncoiling material (2), characterised in that below the reel body (1) is a surrounding annular trough (4) of larger diameter, into which the outlet of the draw-off unit (3) is directed and in which the deflected material is formed into a buffer loop (5) prior to exiting to the processing machine.
2. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claim 1, characterised in that the draw-off unit (3) consists of a pair of pinch rolls (6, 7), the gap of which can be adjusted to the thickness of the material (2), and of which one roll is driven.
3. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the draw-off pinch-roll unit (3) is pivot-mounted on a slewing arm (8) outside the reel body (1) and can move in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the reel body.
4. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the trough (4) has a bottom (9) similar in shape to a truncated cone, rising from the outer wall (11) to a cylindrical inner rim (10), the latter of which terminates below a flange (12) of the reel body.
5. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claim 4, characterised in that on the inside of the inner rim (10) facing the trough space is at least one sensor (13) which responds to contact with the material (2, 5).
6. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claim 5, characterised in that the sensor (13) is part of a circuit arrangement which, on receipt of a signal from the sensor (13), switches the drive (15) of the draw-off unit (3) to a higher speed.
7. Pay-off reel in accordance with Claims 5 and 6, characterised in that at least one further sensor (14) is located on the inside rim (10) a peripheral distance from the first sensor (13), the signal from which second sensor (14) shuts down the drive of the processing machine.
