Definitions
- the invention relates to a roller for machines of the paper industry or the like, in particular a sheet forming roller such as e.g. a circular screen cylinder, a forming roller or a Aufgautschwalze, with a support tube on which several, at least approximately in the circumferential direction and upright in the radial direction upright tapes are fastened, straight and corrugated band sections in the axial direction and the straight band sections at connection points through the corrugated band sections are connected to one another, the latter having recesses on their radially outer edge, and with a covering fabric forming the roller circumference and being supported at least on the corrugated belt sections, between which and the belts a flow in at their connection points in the region of the radially outer edge of the corrugated belt sections Passages permitting circumferential direction are provided.
- a sheet forming roller such as e.g. a circular screen cylinder, a forming roller or a Aufgautschwalze
- a support tube on which several, at least approximately in the circumferential direction
- Such a roller, but without a support tube, is known from DE-AS 21 48 361.
- the straight and wavy bands are of equal height in the radial direction, and
- the corrugated band sections have recesses on their radially outer edge at the connection points, which allow flow in the circumferential direction - without these recesses, acute-angled pockets would form at the connection points between the straight and the corrugated band sections, in which because of the Paper-water accumulations occur on the outer edges of the covering fabric when the rotating roller plunges into the wet paper web.
- the covering fabric lay directly on the outside edges of the strip, the recesses in the corrugated strips would not be sufficient to prevent disadvantageous water accumulation on the outside edges of the corrugated strips; therefore, a backing fabric is arranged in the known roller between the belts and the cover fabric.
- This not only increases the cost of roll production, it also brings with it a whole series of additional disadvantages: it reduces the free passage area of the roll circumference, increases the risk of contamination for the covering fabric and impairs the concentricity of the roll.
- the invention was therefore based on the object to improve the known roller so that the underlay fabric can be dispensed with, which can be achieved according to the invention in that the corrugated strip sections are provided approximately in the middle of the connection points on their radially outer edge with additional recesses and the covering fabric immediately at least on the corrugated band sections.
- the additional recesses in the corrugated belt sections not only enable additional flow in the circumferential direction between the covering fabric and the belt sections supporting it, but also reduce the total support area for the covering fabric and thus, like the omission of the underlay fabric, contribute to increasing the free passage area of the roll circumference, without impairing the quality of the support of the covering fabric.
- the covering fabric is also subject to a lower risk of contamination, and finally the roller has a better concentricity than the known roller described due to the lack of a base fabric.
- the corrugated band sections project beyond the straight band sections in the radial direction, so that passages are left at the junctures between the corrugated band sections and the covering fabric, which allow a flow in the circumferential direction.
- the straight belts can be made thicker, since this does not increase the effective support surface for the covering fabric and consequently does not reduce the free passage area of the roll circumference. Thicker straight band sections also lead to wider passages for flow in the circumferential direction.
- the straight bands form closed rings which are shrunk onto the support tube. It is then advisable to arrange the corrugated strips at a radial distance from the support tube so that the straight strip sections protrude inward over the corrugated strip sections in the radial direction and sit on the support tube, with pressure compensation between the individual strips lying between the straight strips being brought about Ring channels, the straight band sections are provided with recesses on their radially inner edge.
- FIGS. 1 to 4 show a roller 10 with a circular cylindrical support tube 12, preferably made of stainless steel, on the ends of which end rings 14 are fastened. Furthermore, the support tube 12 holds annular straight strips 18 which are arranged at an axial distance from one another and are shrunk onto the support tube and between which annular corrugated strips 18 are welded. In the embodiment 1 to 4, the corrugated strips 18 protrude beyond the straight strips 16, and their radially outer edges are aligned with one another and with the outer circumferential surface of the end rings 14. On the other hand, the corrugated strips 18 end at a radial distance from the support tube 12. The welding connection points at which the Straps 16 and 18 attached to each other have been designated 20.
- a covering fabric 22 lies directly on the radially outer edges of the corrugated bands 18 and on the end rings 14 and forms a self-contained circular cylinder.
- passages 26 are formed directly within the covering fabric 22 between the latter and the edges 16a of the straight strips and between the corrugated strips 18, which allow a flow in the circumferential direction. These passages have a particularly advantageous effect when adjacent corrugated bands are offset from one another in the circumferential direction by half a wavelength, as is the case with the corrugated bands 18 'of the embodiment shown in FIG. 5.
- the free passage area of the covering fabric 22, which has already been increased by the resetting of the straight strips 16, can be further increased by means of central recesses 18b in the region of the radially outer edges 18a of the corrugated strips 18 and 18 ', respectively between the covering fabric 22 and the belts supporting it, further passages are generated which allow flow in the circumferential direction of the roller, as was represented by arrows A in FIGS. 2 and 5.
- these recesses 18b further reduce the risk of water accumulation on the radially outer edges of the belts supporting the covering fabric, which can impair the sheet formation process during paper production.
- the straight belts 16 are provided with openings 16c, which in particular adjoin the support tube 12 and serve the following purpose: Since the support tube 12 forms a roller body which is closed on its circumference and onto which the honeycomb structure carrying the cover fabric 22 is shrunk, pressure compensation is necessary between the ring channels lying between the straight belts 16 - if the fiber suspension flows towards the outside in the radial direction during the sheet formation, air must be able to escape from the ring channels mentioned in the circumferential direction of the roller; without the openings 16c, pressure differences could form between the ring channels, which would prevent uniform sheet formation.
- the third embodiment according to FIGS. 6 to 8 differs from the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4 only in that the radially outer edges of the straight bands 16 "are aligned with the radially outer edges of the corrugated bands 18" and the outer peripheral surface of the end rings 14 and that in place of the passages 26, recesses 18c have been provided in the corrugated bands 18 "in the region of the connection points 20.
- the embodiment according to FIGS. 6 to 8 is particularly suitable for rollers in which the covering fabric is exposed to a high pressure load.
- the straight and corrugated belt sections which follow one another in the axial direction could also be formed by one or more straight or corrugated belt, which extends helically around the support tube 12.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a roller for machines of the paper industry or the like, in particular a sheet forming roller such as e.g. a circular screen cylinder, a forming roller or a Aufgautschwalze, with a support tube on which several, at least approximately in the circumferential direction and upright in the radial direction upright tapes are fastened, straight and corrugated band sections in the axial direction and the straight band sections at connection points through the corrugated band sections are connected to one another, the latter having recesses on their radially outer edge, and with a covering fabric forming the roller circumference and being supported at least on the corrugated belt sections, between which and the belts a flow in at their connection points in the region of the radially outer edge of the corrugated belt sections Passages permitting circumferential direction are provided.
Such a roller, but without a support tube, is known from DE-AS 21 48 361. With her, the straight and wavy bands are of equal height in the radial direction, and To avoid a scoop-like process, the corrugated band sections have recesses on their radially outer edge at the connection points, which allow flow in the circumferential direction - without these recesses, acute-angled pockets would form at the connection points between the straight and the corrugated band sections, in which because of the Paper-water accumulations occur on the outer edges of the covering fabric when the rotating roller plunges into the wet paper web. If, in the known roller, the covering fabric lay directly on the outside edges of the strip, the recesses in the corrugated strips would not be sufficient to prevent disadvantageous water accumulation on the outside edges of the corrugated strips; therefore, a backing fabric is arranged in the known roller between the belts and the cover fabric. This not only increases the cost of roll production, it also brings with it a whole series of additional disadvantages: it reduces the free passage area of the roll circumference, increases the risk of contamination for the covering fabric and impairs the concentricity of the roll.
The invention was therefore based on the object to improve the known roller so that the underlay fabric can be dispensed with, which can be achieved according to the invention in that the corrugated strip sections are provided approximately in the middle of the connection points on their radially outer edge with additional recesses and the covering fabric immediately at least on the corrugated band sections. The additional recesses in the corrugated belt sections not only enable additional flow in the circumferential direction between the covering fabric and the belt sections supporting it, but also reduce the total support area for the covering fabric and thus, like the omission of the underlay fabric, contribute to increasing the free passage area of the roll circumference, without impairing the quality of the support of the covering fabric. In the roller according to the invention, the covering fabric is also subject to a lower risk of contamination, and finally the roller has a better concentricity than the known roller described due to the lack of a base fabric.
In a preferred embodiment, the corrugated band sections project beyond the straight band sections in the radial direction, so that passages are left at the junctures between the corrugated band sections and the covering fabric, which allow a flow in the circumferential direction. With such a construction, the straight belts can be made thicker, since this does not increase the effective support surface for the covering fabric and consequently does not reduce the free passage area of the roll circumference. Thicker straight band sections also lead to wider passages for flow in the circumferential direction. In the case of rollers for particularly high pressure loads, however, it is advisable to arrange the corrugated and the straight belt sections in such a way that they have the same outside diameter, the corrugated and / or the straight belt sections being provided with recesses at their connection points on their radially outer edge, to create passages at the connection points that allow flow in the circumferential direction.
In a preferred embodiment of the roller according to the invention, the straight bands form closed rings which are shrunk onto the support tube.

Due to the radially
The free passage area of the covering
Finally, the
Since in the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 to 5 the
The third embodiment according to FIGS. 6 to 8 differs from the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4 only in that the radially outer edges of the
Just as with the roller according to DE-AS 21 48 361, the straight and corrugated belt sections which follow one another in the axial direction could also be formed by one or more straight or corrugated belt, which extends helically around the
