Definitions
- the innovation relates to a tufting needle, the shaft of which is connected to a piston and is flat, has a thread groove on one side and, near its tip, has an elongated eye in the direction of the needle axis, which has a curved upper eye edge at its upper end and a lower one at its lower end End has a curved lower eye edge, a groove being provided in the shaft on the side opposite the thread groove following the upper eye edge.
- Such tufting needles are either fixed individually in the desired division on a needle bar or combined with several identical needles to form needle modules, which in turn are then fixed on the needle bar.
- they are pushed through a base material, the thread to be processed running through the eye of the needle.
- a looper engages in the area between a side surface of the needle and the associated thread by a movement essentially transverse to the needle axis, in order to hold the thread in place when the needle moves backwards and in this way to form loops which can then be cut depending on the type of goods desired.
- the task of the present innovation consists in particular in creating a tufting needle which results in reduced puncture and puncture resistance and has a long service life.
- the innovation in a tufting needle of the type mentioned at the outset provides that the point of the needle tip begins at the level of the upper half of the eye of the needle or above.
- the increase in cross-section in the tip area which is referred to here as tip, is distributed over a relatively large area.
- the tip is therefore particularly "slim" and therefore results in a low puncture and puncture resistance. This becomes particularly clear when if one takes into account that with the previously known tufting needles, the tipping usually only begins at the height of the lower edge of the eye.
- the tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed in such a way that the point of the needle tip begins by a third of the eye length below the uppermost eye point (01 point) or above.
- the tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed in such a way that the point of the needle tip begins at the level of the uppermost eye point (01 point) or above.
- the tufting needle according to the invention can be designed such that the height of the curved lower eye edge measured in the direction of the needle axis between the lowest eye point and the beginning of the reduction of the eye width is greater than half the eye width. In this way, a weakening of the needle in the area of the tip is prevented, since the course of the lower edge of the eye largely follows the given course of the tip. In this way, peaks that are particularly long and thus only slowly increase in cross-section can be realized without reducing the eye length.
- the tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed such that the lower edge of the eye is part of an ellipse.
- the tufting needle according to the invention can be designed so that the fillet runs out at its upper end over a flat grinding surface. Just like the extension of the needle tip, it also leads the fillet. ahsehleiende flat grinding surface for much smaller changes in cross-section than was previously known. This also reduces the puncture and puncture resistance of the needle according to the innovation.
- the tuftang needle according to the innovation can be designed such that the shaft merges with the piston via a gradual cross-sectional boring. In this way, the base material is expanded, so that the retraction forces acting on the needle are reduced.
- the tufting needle shown in the figures has a piston 1 which has a front flattening 2 and a rear flattening 3.
- a shaft 4 adjoins the piston and has a front side 5 and a rear side 6.
- Front 5 and back 6 run essentially parallel to each other and give the shaft 4 a flat, substantially rectangular cross section. This cross section increases continuously and slightly in the direction of the piston 1.
- the front side 5 has a fillet 7 which rises upwards, i.e. in the direction of the piston 1, over a radius which is finally followed by a flat grinding surface 8, so that the fillet 7 gradually advances from its base to the outer surface the front 5 lifts.
- FIG. 8 clearly shows how a gradual increase in cross-section is achieved in this way, which leads to far lower loads than was possible with the previously usual runout of the fillet 7, which is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 8.
- the fillet 7 starts from an edge of the front side 5 of the shaft 4.
- An inclined surface 8 connects the fillet 7 to the opposite edge of the front side 5.
- the tufting needle has an eye 9, which runs elongated in the direction of the needle axis 10.
- the eye 9 has a curved upper edge 11, a front edge 12, a rear edge 13 and a curved lower edge 14.
- the upper edge 11 of the eye 9 is asymmetrical with respect to the needle axis 10, namely because the highest point of the upper eye edge 11, that is to say the uppermost eye point, is offset to the right relative to the needle axis 10 when viewed from the front.
- the lower eye edge 14, however, is symmetrical. However, it is not defined by a circular arc, the radius of which corresponds to half the width of the eye, but rather the height of the lower edge of the eye 14, that is to say the distance between the lowest point of the eye and the point at which the reduction in the width of the eye in the lower region of the eye 9 begins, is greater than half the width of the eye 9.
- the lower eye edge 14 is elliptical in the embodiment.
- the tufting needle has a tip 15, the tapering or tapering of which begins at the top eye point (01 point).
- the back of the tufting needle is equipped in a known manner with a thread guide groove 16 which adjoins the eye 9 and runs out at the upper end of the shaft 4.
- the tufting needle can be connected to a bar as a single needle or can be combined into modules.
- the needle can also have any desired piston design, in particular a round or flat piston. Oval piston designs are also easily possible.
Abstract
Description
The innovation relates to a tufting needle, the shaft of which is connected to a piston and is flat, has a thread groove on one side and, near its tip, has an elongated eye in the direction of the needle axis, which has a curved upper eye edge at its upper end and a lower one at its lower end End has a curved lower eye edge, a groove being provided in the shaft on the side opposite the thread groove following the upper eye edge.
Such tufting needles are either fixed individually in the desired division on a needle bar or combined with several identical needles to form needle modules, which in turn are then fixed on the needle bar. When using such tufting needles, they are pushed through a base material, the thread to be processed running through the eye of the needle. After the base material has been pierced, a looper engages in the area between a side surface of the needle and the associated thread by a movement essentially transverse to the needle axis, in order to hold the thread in place when the needle moves backwards and in this way to form loops which can then be cut depending on the type of goods desired.
Both when the tufting needles are pushed into the base material and when these needles are pulled out, they are exposed to extremely high loads, depending on the nature of the base material. Such loads result e.g. with the highly deformable base material, as has recently been e.g. is used for the manufacture of tufted products for laying the floor of motor vehicles.
The task of the present innovation consists in particular in creating a tufting needle which results in reduced puncture and puncture resistance and has a long service life.
To solve this problem, the innovation in a tufting needle of the type mentioned at the outset provides that the point of the needle tip begins at the level of the upper half of the eye of the needle or above.
With this needle, the increase in cross-section in the tip area, which is referred to here as tip, is distributed over a relatively large area. The tip is therefore particularly "slim" and therefore results in a low puncture and puncture resistance. This becomes particularly clear when if one takes into account that with the previously known tufting needles, the tipping usually only begins at the height of the lower edge of the eye.
The tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed in such a way that the point of the needle tip begins by a third of the eye length below the uppermost eye point (01 point) or above.
The tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed in such a way that the point of the needle tip begins at the level of the uppermost eye point (01 point) or above.
The tufting needle according to the invention can be designed such that the height of the curved lower eye edge measured in the direction of the needle axis between the lowest eye point and the beginning of the reduction of the eye width is greater than half the eye width. In this way, a weakening of the needle in the area of the tip is prevented, since the course of the lower edge of the eye largely follows the given course of the tip. In this way, peaks that are particularly long and thus only slowly increase in cross-section can be realized without reducing the eye length.
The tufting needle according to the innovation can be designed such that the lower edge of the eye is part of an ellipse.
The tufting needle according to the invention can be designed so that the fillet runs out at its upper end over a flat grinding surface. Just like the extension of the needle tip, it also leads the fillet. ahsehleiende flat grinding surface for much smaller changes in cross-section than was previously known. This also reduces the puncture and puncture resistance of the needle according to the innovation. Finally, the tuftang needle according to the innovation can be designed such that the shaft merges with the piston via a gradual cross-sectional boring. In this way, the base material is expanded, so that the retraction forces acting on the needle are reduced.

The tufting needle shown in the figures has a piston 1 which has a front flattening 2 and a
The

The tufting needle has an
The

The tufting needle can be connected to a bar as a single needle or can be combined into modules.
The needle can also have any desired piston design, in particular a round or flat piston. Oval piston designs are also easily possible.
