- the present invention relates to an initiation delay for a military head comprising two formed charges mounted in tandem and initiated successively. The front charge is initiated first, then with a pre-determined delay, the rear charge detonates.
- Delay of a few hundred microseconds could be carried out without problem by a winding of detonating cord, but for a delay time greater than 0.5 ms, the length of ring used becomes prohibitive. Indeed, it is necessary to use 3.5 m of cord for a delay of 0.5 ms or 10.5 m for 1.5 ms. These long lengths pose a major problem due to their large size.
