Abstract

A ceramic cover plate with or without an enamel surface possesses a polygonal or circular peripheral edge. The cover plate consists of a frame part (R) having a recess (2) extending through the body of the plate and of an insert part (E) which fits into the recess (2) and can be inserted therein. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a ceramic cladding panel with a glazed or unglazed visible surface with polygonal or. circular peripheral edge.

To achieve special decorative effects, ceramic cladding panels of this type (tiles) are provided with a visible surface instead of a flat and smooth-running visible surface which has the same and evenly arranged elevations and / or depressions in the form of grids and other patterns. Cladding panels are also known, in which elevations and depressions distributed unevenly in the visible surface together represent a highlighted plastic image (ornament). Such cladding panels require a special shape for the entire panel for each type of representation, and they pose difficulties for the manufacturing process of molding, firing and glazing, for example. in that the individual plates cannot be placed on top of one another during the preliminary stages of the molding process.

The invention has for its object to improve generic cladding panels so that these difficulties are eliminated.

This object is achieved in that the cladding panels consist of an outer frame part provided with a recess passing through the plate body and an insert part fitted into this recess. The peripheral edge of the insert part can, like that of the frame part or otherwise, be polygonal or circular run in shape. The visible surface of the frame part can - as the invention further provides - run for example flat and smooth or be patterned with the same and evenly arranged elevations and / or depressions, while the visible surface of the insert part is unevenly distributed (ornamental). Has elevations or depressions; these can be dimensioned higher or lower than the elevations and depressions of the visible surface of the frame part.

In addition to the elimination of the difficulties already mentioned, the use of the design of the cladding panels according to the invention results in the possibility of different; Manufacturing methods of the frame part adapted to the intended use by pressing and the insert by molding. Furthermore, due to the separability of the frame part and insert part of the cladding panel, diverse decorative effects of wall cladding can be achieved by changing the compositions.

The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the embodiment shown in the drawing. Show in the drawing

  • 2 shows a section along the line AA through FIG. 1st

The frame part R, the cladding panel 1 is provided with a recess 2, which here runs circularly, and into which the insert part E (see FIG. 2), which also has a circumferential edge that runs in a circular manner, is fitted. The visible surface R S of the frame part R is kept flat and smooth in the exemplary embodiment, while the visible surface ES of the insert E has unevenly distributed elevations and depressions.

As already mentioned, the frame parts R, which are preferably produced in the pressing process, are applied in a customary manner to the surfaces to be covered, for example, placed in a mortar bed or glued to the surface, and then the insert parts E are inserted into the recess 2 and also with the cover plate connected to the surface to be clad.
