  • the invention relates to a substantially disc-shaped plastics plate to be pressed on a cavity wall tie used for retaining an insulation blanket against the inner wall of a cavity wall, said disc being provided with a central opening forming a seat for a wall tie and communicating with a slot extending up to the outer rim of the disc, through which the wall tie can be moved towards the seat when pressing the disc on a tie, which central opening is surrounded by a lug forming part of the disc and stiffening the latter but being elastically deformable, said lug being interrupted at the slot.
  • Such a retaining disc is known trom NL-A 76 09 119 of the same applicant.
  • This known disc can be pressed on a wall tie which has already been fixed in the inner and outer walls , so that only forces which can be taken up by the underlying brick layer will be exerted thereon without pulling the tie from the still unhardened mortar.
  • Such a disc can be placed on a tie closely to an insulation blanket which, during brick laying, is put on the ties,and consists, for instance, of glass wool, if desired provided with aluminium foil, said disc thus retaining the blanket against shifting.
  • the central lug of the disc when being pressed on a tie, will be bent open elastically until the tie snaps into the seat, and then the disc will be kept clamped on the tie by the elastic tensioning force, the relatively large dimensions of the lug in the axial direction of the tie ensuring that the disc will not topple over.
  • the disc is relatively thin and, thus, does not impede the elastic widening of the lug. Since the insulation blanket is very flat, it is not necessary that the disc remains flat when being bent open, as long as the seat sufficiently clings to the tie.
  • Such a disc can be arranged on ties of different thicknesses, and the central lug will be bent open accordingly.
  • the lug will be bent open farther as the tie is thicker, and the required pressing force will increase accordingly.
  • a disc adapted to be clamped on a thinner tie can be pressed on a thicker one too, the increased pressing force being generally no objection, the slot will remain open farther so that, when said slot is directed downwards, water may pass towards the blanket as yet, and there is a possibility that the seat will break loose from the tie if by bending open the seat the latter insufficiently surrounds the tie.
  • the invention provides a retaining disc of this kind i which will always remain safely clamped on a tie irrespective of the thickness of the tie.
  • the disc of the invention is characterised in that the lug is in the form of a ring coaxially surrounding the seat at some distance, and in that,substantially aligned with the rims bordering the slot, two flexible strips each I extend mutually parallel from a respective extremity of the interrupted lug towards an opposite point thereof and are integral with this lug, which strips each are provided with at least one recess, the recesses of a pair opposing one another and forming together a tie seat. In particular two or more pairs of recesses are provided which are each adapted to a group of tie thicknesses.
  • an additional spring action can be obtained by closing the control opening between the strips and the lug by means of an integral plastics foil providing a certain stiffening of the strips and, moreover, by closing the opening, being able to divert condensation water.

  • the retaining disc shown which, externally, mainly corresponds to the disc of NL-A 7609 119, comprises a plane disc-shaped portion 1 with circular circumference and an obliquely extending dripping rim 2 and an insertion slot 3 bounded by upstanding rims 4.
  • annular lug 5 Coaxially with the circumference an annular lug 5 is formed integrally with the portion 1, said lug being shaped, in the case shown, as a hollow bulge, and being interrupted at the slot 3. This lug surrounds a central opening 6.
  • the central opening 6 between the strips 7 and the lug 5 can be closed by a plastics foil 9 which can provide a certain stiffening of the strips in the case of thinner ties, and, furthermore, closes the opening 6 in such a manner that condensation water drops can slide downwards therealong. In the case of thicker ties this foil will buckle, and will then no longer contribute substantially to the effect of the strips 7.
  • Fig. 3 shows a special embodiment of the strips 7, in which, now, two sets of bulges or recesses 8' and 8" are provided in the strips 7, each intended for a specific group of tie thicknesses.
  • the strips 7 Since, when inserting a tie rod towards the seat 8, the strips 7 will bend at this seat, the tie will be enclosed sufficiently at both sides for ensuring an unambiguous clamping.
  • the strips 7 act more or less as the arc string of an arc, which arc is then formed by the lug 5. In the case of thicker rods a part of the deformation force will be transferred towards this lug 5.
  • a disc constructed in this manner can be used for all the available tie thicknesses, and the insertion slot 3 can be chosen sufficiently wide for facilitating the insertion of thicker ties, and nevertheless the risk of breaking loose in the case of thicker rods will be avoided as the strips 7 will bend to such an extent that also a thicker tie will still be sufficiently enclosed at the side of the insertion slot 3.
