Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cutter for making two series of juxtaposed and fishbone cuts in a thin continuous plastic strip.
We know that the garlands of metallized plastic, used as decoration and ornamentation, are obtained by winding helically and with a thin metal wire, fringes themselves coming from ribbons on which two series of juxtaposed cuts were made and oriented perpendicularly. or obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the ribbons. Ribbons with oblique cuts, i.e. fishbone, are preferred by garland manufacturers because they allow garlands to be made with all their elements oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the work. and therefore with a maximum diameter relative to the initial width of the ribbons.
We also know that the cutters used to make these cuts in thin plastic ribbons are of the guillotine type, that is to say with a vertically movable blade and sliding expediently in adhesion with a counterblade, so that they act by cutting the ribbon which is interposed in contrast between the cutting edges of the blade and the counterblade.
This operating mode of known cutters is the main cause of their low reliability since the plastic inevitably remains in adhesion with the edge of the blade, and quickly dulls the wire; which requires frequent stops and careful cleaning and sharpening of the blade.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate this drawback by proposing a cutting machine of high production and high reliability.
This was achieved in accordance with the invention by adopting the idea of carrying out the two series of peabone cutouts by means of two facing shears, each with double sharp, crossed and oscillating blades in the manner of pairs of scissors, so that each cutting is obtained by a gradual but rapid division of a corresponding portion of the ribbon.
The advantages obtained thanks to the present invention essentially consist in that it is possible to obtain a very high number of oscillations of the blades which can reach 4500 at mid-nute; that it is possible to cut ribbons of a certain width, that is to say up to 200mm; that it is possible to modify the angle of inclination of the cutouts with respect to the gitudinal axis of the ribbon; that it is possible to modify at will the distance between the two series of cuts, that is to say to modify the width of the central zone of the uncut ribbon; that the operation is very silent, vibration-free, with a high degree of reliability even after long periods of uninterrupted operation.
Fig.1 shows an overview of a cutter according to the invention, in the operating phase; Fig.2 shows a variant of the cutter of Fig.1; Fig. 3 represents the kinematic diagram of the movement of the blades of a shear with a double sharp blade for the cutter of FIG. 1
