- Dosing pumps which are designed as piston pumps, have the disadvantage that pressure surges and vibrations occur, so that no uniform dosing, but a shock dosing he follows. If spindle pumps or the like are used as metering pumps, high-frequency stochastic vibrations arise, so that a continuous, uniform dispensing of the liquid for the purpose of atomization is also difficult herewith. Continuous atomization is required, for example, when spraying tobacco with flavorings, when spraying textiles and in similar applications.
- a known dispenser of the type mentioned at the beginning (US-A-1 460 389) has two containers, one of which is connected to an expansion tank and the other to a pressure tank. When one container is filled with liquid, the gas displaced from that container escapes into the expansion tank. The pressure tank delivers to the other Container of compressed gas for expelling liquid from this container. In this way, one container can be filled when the other is emptied, and vice versa.
- the known dispensing device requires, in addition to the pressure tank, an expansion tank and a compressor which extracts gas from the expansion tank, compresses this gas and supplies it to the pressure tank. Each of the two containers must be connected to at least three lines. In addition, a large expenditure on valves is required.

- liquid line can be connected to the outlet line and to the first container through a second valve and that the second gas line can be connected to a vent line if the first valve separates this second gas line from the compressed gas source.
- the second container serves as a reserve container. From this reserve container, liquid is pressed into the first container or into the liquid line leading out of the first container when the first container is almost empty. During this liquid transfer from the second container into the first container, both containers are connected to the compressed gas source, so that they are under the same pressure stand. This avoids the occurrence of pressure fluctuations in the liquid line leading out of the first container. The transfer of the liquid from the second container into the first container takes place during the dispensing process and without this being interrupted or changed. When the first container has been filled from the second container, the second container is refilled. In this case, the gas line of the second container is connected to the vent line and the liquid path from the second container to the first container is blocked.
- the second container can now be replenished from the external liquid source until it is filled, while liquid is continuously pressed out of the first container.
- the two containers thus form a tandem arrangement, so to speak, the first container being emptied when the second container is being filled and the first container being filled during the emptying of the second container.
- Both containers preferably have at least approximately the same volume.
- the containers can be made relatively small, so that only small amounts of liquid remain in them when the dispenser is switched off. Because of the constant refilling of the containers, small container volumes are sufficient.
- the compressed air network usually available in factories can be used as the compressed gas source, which supplies compressed air at a pressure of approx. 6 bar.

- An additional external pressure source to generate the pressure difference for decanting is not required.
- the second container 17 is designed in the same way as the first container 10. Its liquid line 18 leading out of the bottom wall is on the one hand via a valve 19 with a supply line 20 coming from a liquid source (not shown) and on the other hand via a further valve 21 with the outlet line 11 of the first container 10 connected.
- the gas line 22 of the second container 17 can be connected to the compressed air supply line 16 via a changeover valve 23 and an adjustable throttle point 24.
- valves 14, 19, 21 and 23 can either be controlled by a timer or by level control depending on the liquid levels in the containers 10 and 17.
- the second container 17 Since the second container 17 is arranged so high that its bottom wall is at a higher level than the top wall of the first container 10, the liquid contained in the second container 17 flows through the opened valve 21 to the outlet line 11. A part of this liquid becomes discharged via the open valve 12 and the excess part rises in the first container 10, which is filled in this way becomes.
- the pressure difference caused by the height difference of the containers 10 and 17 is so small in relation to the size of the pressure of the compressed air supplied that the pressure change in the outlet line 11 is negligibly small.
- valve 21 is closed according to FIG. 3 and the changeover valves 14 and 23 are switched over in such a way that the gas line 13 with the compressed air supply line 16 is connected, while the gas line 22 is connected to a vent line 26 leading into the outside air.
- the line 25 is blocked in this phase of refilling the second tank.
- the second container 17 is now depressurized because it is vented via the gas line 22, and via the opened valve 19, liquid flows from below through the liquid line 18 into the second container 17, which is refilled in this way.
- the valve 19 is closed and the changeover valve 23 connects the gas line 22 to the compressed air supply line 16 again, so that the standby phase shown in FIG. 1 is reached again.
- the liquid source (not shown) need only provide the liquid under low pressure, which may be much lower than the pressure in the first container 10.
- the gas lines 13 and 22 of both containers are connected to one another unthrottled via line 25. Therefore, an air flow can be maintained while maintaining the full air pressure flow from the first container 10 into the second container 17. In this way, the same volume of air as that which is displaced by the increase in the liquid level from the first container 10 is replenished in the second container 17, in which the liquid level decreases approximately to the same extent as it does in the first container 10 increases.

Abstract
Two containers (10, 17), which interact in tandem, are provided for the uniform and continuous supply of a consumer with liquid under pressure. The first container (10) is continuously connected to a compressed air source (16) during operation, which expels the liquid via an outlet line (11). When the first container (10) has run empty, a second container (17) arranged at a higher level replenishes it without interrupting the liquid dispensing. The second container (17) can be refilled with its gas line (22) to a vent line (26), while its liquid line (18) is decoupled from that of the first container (10).
Description
Druckgasbetriebene Ausgabevorrichtung für FlüssigkeitenPressurized gas dispenser for liquids
The invention relates to a compressed gas-operated dispensing device for liquids, with a first container which can be connected to a compressed gas source via a first gas line and the outlet of which is connected to an outlet line, and a second which can also be connected to the compressed gas source via a second gas line and a first valve Container which can be connected to a liquid source via a liquid line.
For the expulsion of liquid from a container, for example for the purpose of spraying the liquid onto a material to be treated, it is known to use metering pumps with which the pressure required to expel the liquid is generated. Dosing pumps, which are designed as piston pumps, have the disadvantage that pressure surges and vibrations occur, so that no uniform dosing, but a shock dosing he follows.
It is also known to dispense liquids under pressure from a pressure vessel. Because of the constant pressure over time, a uniform liquid output is achieved, but there is the disadvantage that the pressure vessel has to be charged periodically in order to refill liquid. No liquid can be dispensed during loading. With this batch-wise filling of the pressure vessel with liquid, it must be ensured that the exact amount of liquid required is in the pressure vessel, because otherwise the dispensing process has to be interrupted prematurely or there is still a residual amount in the pressure vessel after dispensing the intended amount of liquid, which has to be emptied again . Pressure boilers also have the disadvantage that they are subject to strict safety requirements due to the high pressures and form a constant source of danger.
A known dispenser of the type mentioned at the beginning (US-A-1 460 389) has two containers, one of which is connected to an expansion tank and the other to a pressure tank. When one container is filled with liquid, the gas displaced from that container escapes into the expansion tank. The pressure tank delivers to the other Container of compressed gas for expelling liquid from this container. In this way, one container can be filled when the other is emptied, and vice versa. The known dispensing device requires, in addition to the pressure tank, an expansion tank and a compressor which extracts gas from the expansion tank, compresses this gas and supplies it to the pressure tank. Each of the two containers must be connected to at least three lines. In addition, a large expenditure on valves is required.
The invention has for its object to provide an output device of the type mentioned that with a simple source of pressurized gas, e.g. a usually existing compressed air line, which can be implemented easily and with little technical effort.
The solution to this problem is according to the invention that the liquid line can be connected to the outlet line and to the first container through a second valve and that the second gas line can be connected to a vent line if the first valve separates this second gas line from the compressed gas source.
Here, the second container serves as a reserve container. The second container can now be replenished from the external liquid source until it is filled, while liquid is continuously pressed out of the first container. The two containers thus form a tandem arrangement, so to speak, the first container being emptied when the second container is being filled and the first container being filled during the emptying of the second container. Both containers preferably have at least approximately the same volume. The containers can be made relatively small, so that only small amounts of liquid remain in them when the dispenser is switched off. Because of the constant refilling of the containers, small container volumes are sufficient.
The compressed air network usually available in factories can be used as the compressed gas source, which supplies compressed air at a pressure of approx. 6 bar.
In order to transfer the liquid from the second container into the first container, it is necessary that the pressure in the second container is somewhat higher than in the first container. This pressure difference can be caused, for example generated that a throttle point is provided in the gas line leading from the gas pressure source to the first container, while such a throttle point is not provided in the line leading to the second container.
A simpler way of generating the pressure difference required for decanting is that the second container is arranged at a higher level than the first container and that the gas lines of both containers can be connected to one another when the liquid line of the second container is connected to the outlet line. Here, both containers are connected to the same gas pressure during the transfer phase. The required pressure difference is generated by the height difference of the tanks. The bottom wall of the second container is at a higher level than the top wall of the first container. An additional external pressure source to generate the pressure difference for decanting is not required.
In the following an embodiment of the invention will be explained with reference to the drawings.

The

13 and 22 are via thegas lines changeover valves 14. and 23 connected to the compressedair supply line 16. Therefore, both 10 and 17 are under pressure. Thecontainers 19 and 21 are closed. Thevalves valve 12 is constantly open during the dispensing of liquid. In phase, theliquid line 18 of thecontainer 17 is shut off, so that this container is under pressure, but no liquid is squeezed out of it. In contrast, the liquid is constantly expressed from thecontainer 10 under constant pressure via theline 11.
When the liquid level in the
Since the
If, in the manner described, the liquid contained in the
In the decanting phase shown in FIG. 2, the
