Description

It is known that textile yarns or filaments are frequently treated by the wet process while they are in the form of masses wound in coils. Thus, in particular, for their dyeing, such coils are often stacked on or in perforated tubes which are mounted on rods carried by hollow circular plates in which the coloring solution is injected, so that it enters each of said tubes through an opening provided for this purpose. These being closed at the top, it must cross the coils and thus regularly impregnate the wires that constitute them.

When such a treatment is finished, it is important to wring out each mass in order to expel the liquid which it has retained. Small individual centrifuges are used for this purpose, each receiving a single coil. We understand that this way of operating poses difficult handling problems because each coil represents only a relatively small mass of wire.

The invention aims to make it possible to produce an installation by means of which the necessary handling operations can be automated, at least to a very large extent, and which consequently makes it possible to obtain high production with relatively little labor.

The installation which is the subject of the invention is defined in the claims.

1 consists of a turnstile or merry-go-round comprising a hollow base plate 1 (see fig. 2) rotatably mounted on a base 2. This plate carries eight vertical rods 3 (fig. 2 to 4) on each of which one comes to spit a stack of coils 4 held inside an outer perforated tube 5. To center this stack on the rod, one can associate with the latter an inner tube 6, connected to it by radial fins 7 and on which the the above coils can slide freely. The tube 5 ends at the top with an outer rim 5a.

As a variant (FIG. 5), the coils 4 can be friction mounted on a perforated inner tube 8 which engages in free sliding on fins such as 7, but which are only welded to the rod 3 considered. The tube 8 then extends at the top above the coils 4 by a part comprising a constriction 8a.

It will be recalled very briefly that during the dyeing operation, the hollow plate 1 is mounted on a tube which is connected to its lower central opening 1 a. The tubes 6 or 8 being closed at the top by suitable covers 6a, 8b retained by nuts 3a screwed at the end of the rods 3, the dye is injected into the above-mentioned tubing and the latter is thus forced to pass radially through the coils 4 to impregnate them. It is after this operation has been carried out that the plate 1 in question is brought to the rotating base 2 to produce the aforementioned turnstile 1-2.

This torniquet 1-2 is associated with a straight row of wringing stations 9 (fig. 1). As shown in fig. 6, each of them contains an elementary centrifuge comprising a fixed tank 10, a rotating basket 11 carried by a hollow shaft 12, a drive motor 13 associated with this shaft, a lower pusher 14 capable of sliding axially in the shaft 12, a lifting plate 15 fixed to the upper end of this pusher, a bent tube 16 containing balls 17 and which opens into the bottom of the motor 13 along the axis thereof so that the balls 17 can act on the pusher 14, and a jack 18, the rod of which can slide in the horizontal part of the tube 16 to repel the balls which are there, thereby making the plate 15 rise inside the perforated basket 11.

The assembly of the tank 10 and the fitter 13 can be mounted on elastic blocks 10a in the known manner.

Each elementary centrifuge corresponds to a table 19 whose upper face is substantially flush with the upper edge of the tank 10. On this table can slide a hollow drawer 20 whose height is equal to or very slightly lower than that of a reel 4. This drawer is integral with an arm 21 which passes through a slot 19a of the table to come to couple with the end of the rod of a horizontal jack 22. The arrangement is such that the drawer, suitably guided by suitable guides which are not detailed (and which may consist of the slot 19a), moves along a path which passes through the vertical axis of the motor 13 and of the perforated basket 11.

1, if we consider the row of stations 9, the corresponding drawers 20 move perpendicular to it and the arrangement is such that when these drawers are in the retracted position, that is to say pushed back fully to the left in fig. 6, they are clearly below the vertical plane A-A (fig. 1) passing through the axis of the turnstile 1-2 and parallel to the alignment of the stations 9.

The upper wall of each drawer 20 is perforated for reasons that will be better understood below, and below the retracted position thereof, there is provided under the table 19 a collecting chute 23 which opens into the tank 10 through an orifice 10b. On the other hand, the evacuation pipe of said tank has been indicated in 10c.

Au-dessus de la cuve 10 est disposé un poussoir supérieur 24 co-axial à celle-ci et commandé par un vérin 25, et qui porte à son extrémité inférieure un plateau 26.Above the tank 10 is disposed an upper pusher 24 co-axial with the latter and controlled by a jack 25, and which carries at its lower end a plate 26.

On the front of the row of stations 9 runs a conveyor belt 27 of relatively large width (more than three times the diameter of a coil 4 in the example shown). Each station is associated with an inclined corridor 28 which, starting from the top of the corresponding tank 10, descends in the direction of this mat. As shown in fig. 1, these corridors are arranged so as to terminate at locations different from the width of the belt 27. In the example shown, starting from the left, the first corridor 28 is relatively long, the next shorter, the third still shorter, then the fourth takes up the length of the first, and so on in groups of three.

If we now refer to fig. 7, above the turnstile 1-2 and the row of stations 9, and in the plane AA mentioned above, is arranged a conveyor 29 (with two rails in the example shown) on which a carriage 30 can move The latter supports a first winch 31 to the cable 31 from which is suspended a system 32 comprising two articulated jaws 33 in the form of hooks with oblique lower edge.

The operation is as follows:
  • Assuming first of all to fix the ideas that we find ourselves in front of the arrangement according to fig. 1 (coils 4 stacked in an outer tube 5), the carriage 30 is brought above one of these stacks carried by the plate 1 of the turnstile, for example that which is closest to the beginning of the row of stations 9. The first winch 31 is then actuated on the descent and the jaws 33 open so as to pass on either side of the perforated outer tube 5 to return to hang below the edges 5a. The coils are blocked inside the tube 5 by any means, not shown, for example using a tab provided at the lower end of said tube 5 so as to be able to pivot inwards around a vertical axis. The winch 31 is then actuated upon lifting so as to raise the stack in question and to release it from the corresponding rod 3. The carriage is then moved on track 29-29 so as to bring this stack just above an empty station immediately behind the tank 10, the corresponding drawer being in the advanced position of FIG. 6 and the lifting plate 15 being lifted by the jack 18, the balls 17 and the pusher 14 so as to be at the level of the table 19, while the upper plate 36 is also in the high position.

On se trouve ainsi à la position indiquée en fig, 8.The winch 31 is then actuated on the descent until the stacking is deposited on the drawer 20. We are thus in the position indicated in fig, 8.

The tab or other device for stopping the coils 4 inside the tube 5 is then released, so that they can slide freely in the tube.

The drawer 20 moves back so as to release the lower outlet of the perforated tube 5. Of course, it is appropriate for this purpose that the tube does not follow the movement of the drawer, which can be avoided, if necessary by providing behind this tube a bar such as that shown in broken lines at 34 (fig. 6 and 8) extending over the entire row of stations. Anyway, due to this recoil the lower coil 4 of the stack falls on the table 19, since it was assumed that it could slide freely in said tube. We are thus in the position shown in fig. 9. As for the tube, it is retained in the vertical direction by appropriate means, not shown, in particular by the winch itself remaining in position above the post in question.

This done, the drawer 20 advances. It slides on the table 19 the lower coil 4, now disengaged from the tube 5, and it thus brings it onto the lifting plate 15 (position in fig. 10). The other coils remain held by the upper wall of the drawer.

One can possibly provide on the table 19 lateral guides such as 19b (fig. 6) so that the coil 4, pushed back by the drawer 20, cannot deflect laterally.

11.The plate 15 then lowers, so that the coil 4 considered engages in the rotating basket 11 to be subjected to the action of centrifugal force. At the same time, the upper plate 26 is lowered by its jack 25, so as to prevent the reel from crushing while going up on the wall of the basket. We thus arrive at the position of fig. 11.

12.During centrifugation the drawer 20 moves back so that the next reel 4 of the stack falls on the table 19, as shown in fig. 12.

Of course, the plates 15 and 26 are arranged so that they can rotate freely with the basket 11. Thus, for example, the upper plate 26 can be mounted on a suitable ball bearing.

13).Once the spin is complete, the plates 15 and 26 are raised to bring the treated coil 4 to the level of the table 19 (position of fig. 13).

14.The cycle just described is then repeated. But this time, during the advancement of the drawer 20, the new coil 4 driven by the latter pushes the coil 4 out of the tank 10 and thus brings it onto the corresponding corridor 28 on which it slides for arrive on the belt 27 which takes it to an appropriate receiving station (not shown), as shown in fig. 14.

It is understood that thus all the coils of the stack can be wrung one after the other. When this is done, the carriage 30 can be brought back above the turnstile 1-2, which has advanced in the meantime by one step to present a new stack to the jaws 33 of the carriage.

During all of the individual operations described, the stack of coils 4, which is very humid, drips to a considerable extent. It is for this reason that the drawer 20 is provided with a perforated horizontal wall and that the collecting chute 23 is arranged below the table 19 which can also be established with a perforated wall if its slot 19a is not sufficient to ensure the flow of water.

In practice, a number of carriages 30 is provided equal to that of the stations and a return route to the starting position is arranged for the upper conveyor 29. It can then be arranged so that all the stations of the installation operate at the same time. Alternatively, one could also provide switches or the like, so that when the stacks are in a useful position above the posts, the way remains clear to allow to evacuate any carriage whose stack is exhausted and the replace with another carrying a full stack, all without having to stop the other stations.

It will also be understood that, by virtue of the division into three of the width of the conveyor belt 27, the treated coils are evacuated regularly without the risk of colliding with one another. It is also possible to program the entire machine to avoid any collision and achieve strictly continuous operation.

It may happen that the coils 4 are clamped inside the tube 5 and that they cannot slide freely in the latter only under the effect of their weight in the wet state. To counter this, it is then possible to provide on the carriage 30 (FIG. 7) a second winch 35 whose cable 35a carries a weight 36 at the end which is made to rest on the stack.

In the foregoing explanations it has been assumed that the stacks were of the kind illustrated in FIG. 1, that is to say made of coils 4 mounted inside a common tube 5. But it is easily understood that they are also valid, mutadis mutandis, for stacks of the type of FIG. 5 in which the coils are arranged on a common inner tube 8. Since then the frictional forces between the tube and the successive coils are relatively strong, it is possible, as shown in fig. 15, associate with the carriage 30 an auxiliary cylinder 37 disposed on the side with respect to the jaws 33 (obviously provided here more tightened than in the previous case so as to cooperate with the throttle 8a), this auxiliary cylinder carrying at the end a finger 38 in the form of a fork which acts on the upper coil of the stack to slide the whole of the latter on the tube 8 in the direction of the bottom each time it is necessary to deposit a new coil on the table 19 at the post considered.

In the example shown, the cylinder 37 has been shown as made in telescopic form in order to reduce its overall height.

Fig. 16 schematically indicates a variant according to which the stations 9 are no longer arranged in a rectilinear row as in FIG. 1, but in a circle. In this embodiment, the carriage 30 of FIG. 7 a mobile assembly of eight tracks arranged in a star and on which eight secondary carriages run. At the start, the star assembly is above the turnstile 1-2, the eight secondary carriages are tightened towards the center (diameter d of the stacks), so that the main carriage is centered above the turnstile, the winches associated with said secondary carriages can lift and clear the eight stacks. They then move away from each other (diameter D) so that these stacks come to be arranged according to a star identical to that produced by the locations which they will have to occupy once placed on the tables 19 of the stations 9. The main carriage then moves to center on the star thus constituted by the stations 9. It is easy to understand that if the diametrical spacing D of the secondary carriages in the spread position has been suitably chosen, the eight stacks can be directly lowered onto table 19 so that their coils can be successively brought to the baskets of the centrifuges.

In such an installation, the stations being oriented in the centrifugal direction (the centrifuges towards the outside of the circle), the spun coils are pushed back on a sort of rotating carrousel 39 constituted by a suitably driven annular conveyor belt and they are deflected in the passage towards the discharge belt 27 by a fixed deflector 40.

8 à 14.It is understood that otherwise the operation remains the same as that described above with reference to FIG. 8 to 14.

In the embodiment of fig. 17 to 27, there is the evacuation conveyor belt 27 with the corridors 28 which bring to it the spun coils 4 coming from the row of centrifuge units 9.

There is indicated in 41 (FIGS. 17 and 18) an autoclave in which the coils 4 are treated with a view to their dyeing or other operation. These are mounted on perforated tubes 6 secured to a base plate 1 (which has already been assumed to have been removed from the autoclave in FIGS. 17 and 19). In the example shown, this tray carries twenty-one tubes distributed in two concentric circular rows, plus one in the center of the tray.

In addition, on the base plate 1, there is provided an intermediate plate 42, suitably perforated to allow the passage of the tubes 6 (and possibly that of the dripping water), this plate thus being interposed between the coils 4 and the base plate 1.

There is also provision for a conveyor greater than one or two rails 29 (FIG. 18) with which is associated a carriage with hoist (not shown) suitable for extracting from the autoclave 41 the entire base plate 1, of the intermediate plate 42 of the tubes 6 and of the coils to be wrung 4 to bring it above a pit 43 (FIG. 18), which contains a jack 44 intended to lift two rods 45 which, passing through the base plate 1 through appropriate perforations, act on the intermediate plate 41 to lift it with the coils 4, which then slide on the perforated tubes 6.

On the side of the pit 43 opposite the autoclave 41 is arranged a dispensing system or robot. This comprises a column 46 which rotates a head 47 in the form of a cross-member. At each of its ends, this head is equipped with a vertical jack 48 whose rod 49, oriented in the direction of the bottom, supports a plate 50, which for a determined angular position of said head 47, is located above the pit 43, co-axially with the jack 44. The underside of the latter is equipped with vertical inflatable fingers 51, made of rubber or the like, of which fig. 19 and 20 show the detail. As shown, each of these is in the form of a socket, the lower end of which is closed, while the upper end is connected to a frustoconical base 52. A pipe 53 provided in the plate 50 makes it possible to connect all the fingers 51 thereof to the same control line (not shown) which can be connected to a source of compressed air to inflate the fingers, or on the contrary to the atmosphere to deflate them.

A l'état dégonflé (fig. 19.In the deflated state (fig. 20), the fingers 51 have a diameter smaller than that of the cylindrical interior space 4a of the coils 4. It is therefore possible to engage them freely in these. If they are then inflated, they come to bear against the inner wall of the coils 4, thus fixing themselves to the latter, as shown in FIG. 19.

Below the head 47 and on the other side of the column 46 relative to the pit 43, is disposed the upstream end of a conveyor belt 54 intended to bring the coils 4 to the centrifugation units 9 as the head 47 deposits on him in the way that we will expose later. At the downstream end of this mat 54, a distributor is provided, of which fig. 21 and 22 show the detail. It essentially comprises a stop screen 55 made of a succession of semicircular parts opening in the direction of the head 47 and having a radius slightly greater than that of the coils 4. This screen is extended in the direction of the bottom by the perforated tubes 5 associated with the centrifuge units (see fig. 6), but which are here fixed in place permanently, and no longer movable. To the edges of the screen 55 are fixed elastic blades 56, of height greater than that of a coil 4 and which extend longitudinally above the carpet 54. These blades are crossed near their free edge and in their part upper by a common rod 57 which connects them to a transverse lateral jack 58, which is controlled so as to cause them to oscillate as indicated by the arrow 59 with an amplitude substantially equal to the radius of a tube 5 in one direction and in the other. As shown in fig. 22, the mat 54 stops immediately upstream of the tubes 5, which are integral with a sort of shelf 60 which extends to the immediate vicinity of the mat.

The operation is as follows:
  • Opposite that a set of coils 4 carried by a base plate 1 has been treated in the autoclave 41, the latter is opened and using an appropriate hoist and an upper conveyor to which the or the rails 29, the plate is raised with the base in question and it is brought above the pit 43 where it is centered by appropriate means (marks, stops) both in the axial position and in the angular position .

For the rest of the explanations, reference is made to the diagrams in FIG. 23 to 27 in which the two plates 50 of FIG. 17 and 18 have been respectively referenced 50A and 50B to distinguish them. Firstly, the plate 50A is brought exactly above the set of coils 4, as shown in FIG. 23. The actuator 44 is maneuvered so as to raise the intermediate plate 42 from the height of a spool. The aforementioned plate is lowered so that its fingers 51, while not inflated, penetrate inside the coils of the upper layer. Of course, this requires perfect centering, but which any technician can achieve, possibly automatically using a programmer or the like.

Once the fingers 51 thus introduced into the coils 4, they are inflated, then the plate 50A is lifted which carries the above-mentioned coils with it.

The head 47 is then made to rotate a little less than half a turn in the direction of the arrow 61 (FIG. 24) so as to bring the plate 50A, thus loaded with coils, above the conveyor 54, but at a slightly offset position on the side (upwards in fig. 24). The fingers 51 are deflated from this plate, so that the coils fall on the conveyor which takes them to the right, as indicated in 4 '.

The head 47 is then rotated by a small angle, so as to bring the plate 50B above the set of coils 4, as shown in FIG. 25. The intermediate plate 42 is again raised by the height of a coil, the plate 50B is lowered so that its fingers 51 engage in the non-inflated state in the coils of the second upper layer, the fingers and we go up the tray which takes with it the coils of this layer.

The head 47 is then rotated by a full half-turn so that the head 50B loaded with coils 4 is located above the conveyor 54 and in the axis thereof, as shown in fig. 26. The fingers are deflated and the coils of the aforementioned second layer fall down and are driven as indicated in 4 ''.

During this time, the intermediate plate 42 was raised from the height of a reel, the plate 50A was lowered to engage its fingers 51 inside the reels of the third upper layer and they were inflated.

27.This plate 50A is lifted which drives the coils of this third layer and the head 46 is made to rotate by more than half a turn (arrow 61), so as to bring the plate 50A above the conveyor 54, but to a laterally offset position (down in Fig. 27). The fingers of this plate 50A are deflated and the layer of coils which it carries (third upper layer 4 ") is discharged by the conveyor on the right in FIG. 27.

The cycle just described is then repeated as many times as necessary to bring all the coils carried by the base plate 1 to the conveyor 54.

The coils thus driven by the conveyor 54 during each of the above-described operating phases arrive at the distributor constituted by the reciprocating blades 56. They are thus distributed over the entire width of the mat and can arrive at the screen 55 to fall back into the tubes 5.

For the rest, the operation of this second embodiment is identical to that of the first described above.

Of course, the number of fingers 51 carried by each of the plates can be any. We could even conceive, ultimately, a machine in which each plate would have only one finger. Furthermore, operation would be possible with a single plate 50, as is easily understood.

It will be noted that in either embodiment, the centrifuge units are easily removable, which allows them to have baskets 11 of different shape, diameter and height.

It will be noted more particularly that the installation which has just been described can be adapted to coils of frustoconical shape. It suffices that the baskets 11 1 of centrifugation are correspondingly shaped, the coils to be treated being loaded with the small diameter at the bottom.

Bien entendu, l'entraînement des paniers peut se faire partout moyen approprié (courroie, moteur individuel, etc...).Of course, the basket drive can be done anywhere appropriate means (belt, individual motor, etc ...).

It is also conceivable that the entire installation can be automated using a suitable programmer.

It is understood in particular that one could replace winches everywhere such as 31 and 35 by jacks, use carriers different from those indicated, plan to operate the stations in succession, the stacks being brought to them individually; the jacks 18 could be arranged vertically under the baskets 11 and the motors 13; these could be replaced by an endless belt system with a single motor; etc ...
