Description

The invention relates to a method and a device for the finest spraying of suspensions in finely divided form, as known from EP-A-0 039 839.

From DE-OS-27 24 931 a device for spraying disperse systems, in particular suspensions, is known, comprising a spray head with a nozzle opening, an arranged inside the spray head, which can be pushed through the nozzle opening and optionally a between the inlet for the disperse system and the nozzle insert arranged with a scraper device for the sieve insert. In order to work satisfactorily with this device and to obtain a uniform spray pattern, a nozzle opening with a minimum diameter of 0.3 mm and a minimum working pressure of 20 bar must be maintained. This means that a certain throughput cannot be undercut. This also means that when spraying, the disperse systems are applied as relatively thick films. It was therefore proposed in European patent application 0 039 839 to spray the disperse system through an air atomizing nozzle. An air atomizer nozzle enables a much better regulation of the spray quantity and is particularly suitable for evenly distributing the smallest quantities of material.

When spraying suspensions containing graphite as a disperse, larger proportions of polymers such as alkylene polymers, dispersants and stabilizers, usually suspended in water, through an air atomizing nozzle there is a risk that the polymer in particular tends to form films and gum.

Such suspensions are described in DE-OS-24-50717 as high-temperature lubricants.

It has been found in practice that the polymers, due to their film-forming properties, can adversely affect the effect of the air atomizing nozzle in continuous operation due to running deposits. While the liquid nozzle is pierced by a cleaning needle in the event of blockages, the film-forming polymers can gradually build up deposits and impair the air flow and finally interrupt it.

The object of the present invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to propose a method and a device which enables trouble-free continuous operation when spraying polymer-containing suspensions.

According to the invention, this is achieved by a method according to claim 1 and an apparatus according to claim 6.

According to the method of the invention, air is expediently used as the spray gas and water is expediently used as the liquid.

Air is generally used primarily for reasons of economy, but it is also possible to use other gases, such as nitrogen, CO 2 , halide hydrocarbon gases or noble gases, alone or in a mixture with one another or in a mixture with air instead of air.

For economic reasons, water is also used as a liquid. However, alcohols with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, glycols, glycol ethers or glycol ether esters can also be used as the liquid alone, in a mixture with one another or in a mixture with water. If appropriate, the liquid can also contain fractions of organic, water-soluble oils or an emulsion of oil in water.

The liquid can be mixed into the gas in different ways. For example, there is the possibility of evaporating the liquid and having it taken up by the gas stream, or the liquid can be injected into the gas stream.

Dazu bieten sich Vorrichtungen, beispielsweise Dosierpumpen, Druckgefässe mit Dosierung, Unterdruckdosierer usw., an.Devices, for example metering pumps, pressure vessels with metering, vacuum metering devices, etc., are suitable for this.

According to the method of the invention, the compressed gas must be saturated or supersaturated with liquid. This should also include degrees of saturation that only correspond to an approximate saturation and how they can occur, for example, due to volume changes and temperature fluctuations in the compressed gas. In the present case, oversaturation does not only mean an oversaturated state, but in a broader sense, in particular also the mist, i.e. the liquid in the form of very fine droplets, in the compressed gas.

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawings in an exemplary manner. Figure 1 shows an axial section through a first embodiment of the invention. A stamp 4 is arranged in the housing 1, which is equipped with an inlet 2 for the suspension and at the tip of which there is a nozzle opening 3 with a diameter of 1.0 to 4.0 mm. The punch 4 is arranged to be movable in the longitudinal direction and is moved by the piston 5. For example, the piston is controlled pneumatically by the compressed gas connection 11 and 12. A partial flow of the compressed gas forms the compressed gas supply 8 to the air atomizing nozzle.

The sieve insert 6 expediently has a cylindrical shape which encloses the side surfaces of the stamp. The sieve insert 6 can be attached to the piston 5. The stripping device 7 is expediently designed as a hollow cylinder which straddles the outer circumference of the sieve insert and is attached to the housing 1, or the stripping device can be embodied in a bushing in the housing 1. Sealing elements can prevent media from penetrating.

If suspensions are sprayed with the device according to the invention, any entrained, undesirably large particles are retained on the sieve insert.

The saturated or supersaturated pressurized gas is pressed through a pressurized gas supply 8, which opens into the spray nozzle 3. In front of the nozzle opening, the saturated or supersaturated compressed gas mixes with the suspension and the suspension is sprayed as a mist.

The piston 5 first moves the plunger 4 attached to it in the opening direction, i. H. the punch tip is withdrawn from the nozzle opening and clears the way for the suspension. If the piston is moved in the opposite direction, the punch tip pushes back into the nozzle opening, presses out any dirt and closes the hole nozzle opening. The sieve insert 6 connected to the piston 5 is stripped off during the closing process, the sieve surface being cleaned. In the end position, the entire screen surface is covered by the liner 7 or the stripping device and closes the passage for the suspension. When the piston is withdrawn, the suspension passes through the sieve insert and any excessively large particles and impurities are retained.

In a device according to Figure 2, a capillary 14 with a diameter of 0.4 to 0.6 mm, preferably 0.5 mm, is arranged in the piston 5, with the capillary 14 and the compressed gas supply in a spray pause via the compressed gas connection 12 8 humidified compressed gas flows into the nozzle opening 3. It is thereby achieved that the compressed gas supply 8 is protected from the flowing back suspension and kept free. Drying of suspension residues is reliably prevented and cleaning of both the fine channels of the compressed gas supply 8 and the nozzle opening 3 is achieved.

Of course, the devices can also be operated without a sieve insert, but this also removes its cleaning effect. Further variants of spray devices are known from EP-PS-0 039 839.

The device described is used for spraying suspensions which contain, in particular, graphite as a dispersion, larger proportions of polymers, such as alkylene polymers, dispersion auxiliaries and stabilizers, and a liquid, generally water, as the dispersion medium. Such formulations are described in DE-OS-24 50 716 as high-temperature lubricants. In order to be able to use these high-temperature lubricants in non-cutting metal forming, they must be applied to workpieces and / or tools in the most uniform layer and distribution possible.

The minimum pressure for the suspension can be reduced close to the ambient pressure, pressures from 0.01 to 15 bar are advantageous. expediently 0.1 to 0.5 bar. The pressure of the gas must be somewhat higher than the pressure in the suspension in order to prevent the suspension from flowing back into the channels of the compressed gas supply 8.

By controlling the ratio of gas volume to suspension and the pressure ratios, minimal amounts down to 10 g / min suspension can be sprayed as a finely distributed mist with no risk of clogging for long periods of time.
